But now you do understand the point of the post. So what exactly are you trying to learn?
Murder, Mayhem, and Mafia

I don't believe such a role can be pro-civvie, or pro-baddie for that matter. The SK is inherently alone and nobody should assume to have its allegiance. An SK will kill whoever they perceive to be the biggest threat to them, just like the baddies will. They aren't going to be looking out for the interests of people who they can't win with.Rbzmncaeaei wrote: linki @Bullzeye - So why do I often see players discuss games that have been over for months discussing their SK roles and claiming that at least in their minds, they were pro-civvie? I don't agree with "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" mentality myself, but picking a side is in the SK's best interest. Whether that side is good or bad is relative, and no alliance is eternal.

I think it's pretty clear?Golden wrote:@zebra - my horse is the perfect height. It's you who keeps claiming I think everything revolves around me, but what is it about that lynch that you see so many explanations for? I didn't see your explanation for that post before my two posts about it, but now that I have - I'd like to know more. Because I agree with you that there is a lot of material around it to analyse, and I think that's a good thing.
You see so many ways to interpret [stuff other than bea dying]. I'm interested in hearing your ideas.Rbzmncaeaei wrote:This lynch is frustrating me because there's so many ways to interpret what happened.
I have no idea why infodumping is forbidden. On mafiascum it's allowed, you've never had a public roleclaiming procedure on TS?Golden wrote:This is ludicrous.Rbzmncaeaei wrote:This lynch is frustrating me because there's so many ways to interpret what happened.
There is only one way to interpret what happened, you know exactly what it is, and everyone who says they want to vote for me tomorrow should be treated with utmost suspicion.
Infodumping is a weak strategy. It's also really nasty IMO, it completely screws a person over and shows a lack of respect or desire for them to have a fair chance at playing the game. I almost quit mafia entirely (twice) because of how much it kept happening to me and how many games I had ruined because of it.Choutas wrote:I have no idea why infodumping is forbidden. You could all work around such town advantage by enforcing other pro-antitown rules. OK enough complainin' this isn't my site just sayin'.
I'm off to sleep. This week isn't as bad as the next one when I'll begin some lessons two days a week and I'll need to work my ass off reading a manual.
Well a classic moment of mafia is two players claiming the same role. On rym we had three vigs in a closed setup made everyone go paranoid, fun moments. Of course it's bad for open setups but on rym we do mostly closed setups. A scum making a fakeclaim could make him survive in a situation where they would bite the dust.Golden wrote:@choutas - no infodumping is a big part of our culture, but each host in each game gets to set its own rules. Generally speaking, in open setups, outright infodumping would give the civs far too large an advantage. I'm not sure what other pro-antitown measures you are thinking of? Might be an interesting discussion about game construction over in our lounge section!
It can only be explained if you tell us your role.TheFloyd73 wrote:Can someone explain to me how to play this game? I actually have no idea.
Never.MovingPictures07 wrote:Effective immediately, fingersplints is replacing thellama73.
Sloonei and I are now all out of replacements. Considering it's now Day 4, the sheer volume of posts in the thread, and the efforts we have made to build a replacement base already, we will not be looking for other replacements.
Future non-participation will be dealt with via modkills. Cast your votes. Send in your PMs. Post in the thread. Or else.

Also, why not ask this when we first started? You've been casting votes every day, I thought?TheFloyd73 wrote:I think I've got the gist of it.

if possible without infodumping, could you explain this? i don't see it.Matt F wrote:Elohcin
After looking at the roles, trying to find out wth Golden and RBZ are talking about, I noticed something and now think...
You are civvie.
Can't sorry. After pretty much confirming Golden's role because of my asshattery in the thread, I'd rather not paint a target on Elohcin's back anyway. But trust me, if you read Elohcin, you should be able to figure it out. Along with the fact that absolutely NOBODY has called her out on it.espers wrote:if possible without infodumping, could you explain this? i don't see it.Matt F wrote:Elohcin

FYI, in case anyone is interested, I feel 100% positive about Golden, despite my earlier misgivings.Golden wrote:I think it is hilarious that my reaction to bea being civ is to feel a bit better about rico and JJJ, and then zebra feels the opposite.
Just a guess/assumption:seaside wrote:Why is Rico not on the poll?

My guess is game-related. Zebra wasn't on the poll the previous day. The role Take Me to the River corresponds to this. I'd put my money on that.seaside wrote:Why is Rico not on the poll?

Do you think he really doesn't get it? Did you see the post where I quoted him "having the gist of it" in pre-game?Golden wrote:@Floyd - just do the best you can. As far as a first time goes, this game is incredibly intense, but it will ease off as it goes on.
Really, the key thing is that if you are civ you have to see if you can catch which people are baddies. How might you do it? Do peoples motives seem honesT? Do they seem like they were defending other known baddies? It's more an art form than a science, or sort of a mix between the two.
I hear that. On Day 0 or Day 1, I would've been right there with you.Golden wrote:It's completely possible he is part of the scum team, but I won't leave someone new out in the cold in case they are really struggling.
I'm more inclined to believe he is a lost civvie. I feel if he was on a Mafia team he would have some peeps to talk him through it.Matt F wrote:I hear that. But on Day 4...after voting several times...after "having the gist of it" in pre-game...

At the same time, I don't want to railroad a new guy if he is being genuine. Weird, though.
If Floyd was on my Mafia team, and he had been rarely posting but making votes without explanation, I would absolutely tell him to start asking questions in thread to avoid suspicion.Black Rock wrote:I'm more inclined to believe he is a lost civvie. I never thought of it that way. I guess that is the other possibility. If he was on my team I wouldn't want him to come in at this point feigning ignorance, so that's not how I saw it.Matt F wrote:If Floyd was on my Mafia team, and he had been rarely posting but making votes without explanation, I would absolutely tell him to start asking questions in thread to avoid suspicion.Black Rock wrote:I'm more inclined to believe he is a lost civvie. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was taught this in my first game ever (I was Mafia my first game).
Does anyone agree this is possible?
(expecting Roxy to vote me again for questioning the new guy) :P
After letting everyone know I received 6 PMs at the start of the game, I was pretty much fucked, though. Haha!MR F wrote:Whoa.
I had no idea the game started, I have to get ready for work in like 20 min., I have like 6 different PMs and there's already 14 pages to this thread.
LOL
Anywho, ummmm like I said before I know next to nothing about the Beatles, but people seem to be making sense about Penny Lane being an actual road, so boom.
Hopefully there won't be 30 pages by the time I get off work lol
I just wanted to add that I am so sorry for missing the vote, I am a horrible person and deserve to die.Black Rock wrote:I never thought of it that way. I guess that is the other possibility. Edit for truth: I am a bad, bad lady and deserve to die. I should be punished for posting like nothing happened when really I missed the vote. Missing votes is a capital offense and if you're not careful you will die, like I deserve to.Black Rock wrote:I'm more inclined to believe he is a lost civvie. I know it's no excuse for my slow catch up but I started this game going into Thanksgiving weekend and as a caterer my hours have been long. Tomorrow is our family TG dinner and also two different celebrations of my sons 3rd Bday. It's not going to get easier for me until Tuesday.
Awww... I wish I had witnessed such newbieness. That is so cute.Matt F wrote:http://forum.lostpedia.com/showthread.p ... fia/page14
