Well, I see the merits of voting for MP and SE, but I think something super fishy is going on with indi. I realize I'm alone in thinking this because no one appears to have seen what I saw, but anyway, *votes indi*

Day 8: Orkas Island

The shipwrecked company had no time to answer indiglo’s question, which was their own also. They were dazed, and baffled by their profound misfortune.

“I would bet anything MovingPictures07 is responsible for our crash. That tempest did not seem natural. Where is he?” said AceofSpaces.

But MovingPictures07 was nowhere to be seen on the beach, neither within the wreckage nor noticed among the trees.

“Maybe he was cast out of the airship over the jungle like indiglo,” Elohcin said. “If he is the cause of our trouble, then it would be unwise to seek him out.”

“To think we were nearly home,” someone replied distantly.

The sound of a horn startled everyone.

A band of beastly figures appeared on the edge of the trees. Weapons in hand, they appeared ready to descend upon the beach and bathe the sand in blood.

“Karikoni!” someone cried. “Prepare to defend yourselves!”

The hideous growl of one of the Karikoni dozen cut through the air. “I am Pinsore, the ruler of Orkas Island and cousin to the slain Clawful. How unfortunate that you should crash here! We have some work for you. Do not resist us!”

A rebellious but obviously weary voice cried, “We will not be slaves to the Karikoni!”

“You will,” Pinsore said. “When you’ve been pinched in every place imaginable, you will beg for the fate that we now offer you peaceably.”

“Never!”

“Then you only increase calamity for yourselves.”

The Karikoni, crustacean warriors, ruddy and belligerent, stormed down the to the beach, prepared to enslave the wounded strewn along it.

“We must swim. We have no choice!” a desperate voice announced.

Seeing sand dunes in the distance, each member of the party threw themselves into the water.

But DFaraday, whose left leg was already injured from the crash, found his right leg in the massive chela of one of the Karikoni cohort before he could reach the waves. The pincer’s teeth bore into his upper thigh, tearing into his flesh while crushing the muscle within. DFaraday heard the bone in his thigh crack and he screamed. His vision dimmed.

A guttural moan came from the attacking beast, and the pressure died away. When he looked again, DFaraday saw his assailant knocked out, but his vision was blurry, and he could not see his rescuer.

“Come. I have the strength to carry you.”

DFaraday shrieked as his legs, the right one a bloody remnant of a limb, were plunged into the saltwater. He fell unconscious as someone carried him across the strait.

Day 9: The Sands of Time

Heaving sea water that seemed to weigh heavily in their lungs, the company fell upon sand that had been warmed all day by the afternoon sun, but was just starting to cool down again.

For a long time, DFaraday was unresponsive save for his labored breathing.

And everyone saw MovingPictures07 observing them from a distance, perfectly dry, his long hair flowing in the wind. Most of the swimmers wanted to smite him then and there, but their muscles protested at the slightest movement.

Unlike Orkas Island, there were no trees in this region to shield them from a sun that had weighed hotly upon them all day, and even in what seemed to be a lifeless desert, they were grateful for the forthcoming night.

Some instinct- or perhaps the realization that the Karikoni might be watching them, preparing to advance on them again- made them force themselves inland.

After they traversed a fourth sand dune, and the sun was half hidden by the horizon, they beheld a radiant figure, who was chanting.

“Nothing has permanence.” The syllables folded in upon themselves with a resonance that made the sentence soon sound like one harmonic tone. Her words seemed to be lifted by the arid wind, and echoed as though they defied time itself. The air was fused with a hypnotic element.

“Who are you?” someone moaned.

The humming and the radiance fell away, and she regarded the group as though she had not noticed them up until that point.

“I am Zanthora, daughter of Zanthor the Cosmic Enforcer.”

A silence followed as she regarded all of them. And then she said, “You are not whom you appear to be, are you? None of you are. You are strangers to one another. Yet nothing has permanence, not even strangeness. Take comfort in this.” And then she said, “If you will perform a task for me, I will perform a task for you. The Sands of Time inform me also that your party is not whole. The Sands of Time tell me that many of you have been lost along the way. The Sands of Time say that my father’s enemy, Skeletor the deceiver has been responsible for many deaths, and that his former professor, Hodak, has been responsible for many more. The sands see this.”

Zanthora’s eyes had been drawn closed as she uttered much of this, but then they flicked open with a sudden resolve. “The Sands of Time have given me the authority to release one whom you lost to Snake Mountain or The Horde from the bonds of death, for nothing has permanence, not even death! Yes! And in return for this life, this companion of yours, you will journey to the Ruins of Zalesia, from whence my father came, and you will make a sacrifice there. For nothing has permanence, not even life! No! And with this blood sacrifice, I may be free. For I am at once prisoner and priestess of these sands. And ephemerality, purchased by blood, is my only salvation.”

A puzzled silence came over the austere desert.

The aural alterations returned.

“Nothing has permanence.”

It is now Night 9. You have 24 hours to send in your PMs.

Dang. Sorry it went down like that gang, it was so hard to know which way to go with so many vocal players stinkified. I guess I should have WIFOMed the other way, but then the deal with Spaghetti seemed so unsure to me because we couldn't communicate well. :( Blurgh.

I think we're going to have a hell of a time lynching the mafiosos from now on because they have so much lynch manipulation that we don't know about so we can't work out the math/formula/etc and plan accordingly. Blurgh again. :|

I would be quite fine with Llama or Vomp coming back. :)

Why didn't you trust me, Indiglo?
Ok, I'll make 1 more comment since you asked, but that's it, simply because I don't want this to become about in-fighting.

I have been pinged by you on and off all game - but I was giving you the benefit of the doubt since it's your first game (I believe). I was taking a wait and watch approach with you. Then what I saw during this last day was honestly the weirdest thing yet, so it only made my pings from you all game seem more substantial. It was like I was finally seeing what I had been waiting to see - really obvious mafia behavior.

I realize now that we are likely on the same side, but to switch gears that quickly (while you have 1 hour to decide who to lynch) is next to impossible. (From really being wary/dubious to trusting 100%) I don't like to blindly trust anyone in a mafia game and vote how they say with no reason and no thinking. That's what I would have had to do to vote along with you, and I couldn't do it.

What I saw was an LT who didn't even seem sure Spaghetti was bad, and since she couldn't talk I couldn't ask her more about it. So I voted the only way that made sense to me at the time.

Were you right? Would a Spaghetti vote have ended up with a dead mafioso? I don't know. I do know that by voting the way I did we did not get a dead mafioso, but we did get an injured DFaraday.

So let's work together from here on out. We can only do our best. I know mafia can be frustrating, and I remember feeling the same way you are feeling right now many a time. But at the end of the day - it's just a game, it doesn't really matter, and sometimes if you're lucky you make friends in the process of playing! Nothing in mafia is personal, we all just play the best way we know how. :hugs:
