Mafia: A World Reborn - Night 7
-= Unfairaday =-
DFaraday was minding his own business when a member of the Circle of Decay just walked right up to him and stabbed him in the throat!
A traveller, named Jim Nonplayer, witnessed the brutal killing, and ran off into the darkness. He quickly got lost, and decided to find his way to the shining beacon of light that was the only real landmark he could see.
He was just getting close, when a huge explosion knocked him on his back, and he saw bodies flying through the air. Dazed, he got up to continue to the beacon, but instead he found that the whole area was nothing but a smoldering pit. Had all the people there been killed?!
DFaraday has been killed by the Circle of Decay. It is now Day 8.

Juliets, you and your coffee will be missed during your hiatus. RIH to your role.
RIPIYWG DF.
And Jim Nonplayer...do we think he's a secret role who is really one of the players? Also, great title.
And anyone have speculation on the bodies flying possible dead people beacon of light?

I speculate noone died as a result of the beacon of light, since the only person reported as dead it says he was killed by the Circle of Decay. So lets hope that is all that happened!

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8
It feels like a new post-juliets dawn where new suspicions need to come forth.
I have two clear thoughts so far. The first is that I can see a scenario where Dr Wilgy is bad and on the Cabal and they set up his 'death' knowing the night wouldn't count for cred. My impression from TH, and it was backed up somewhat when I asked about it in the thread, is that this is exactly the kind of gambit Wilgy would enjoy. It seems up his alley.
The second is that I get the feeling that tranq may know more about his death than he can expressly say. I get the sense that he has been honest in his suspicions about who killed him. Tranq, you may have answered this already, but do you know why/how you came back to life? I don't think Tranq is on the circle of decay, and he was killed by the Cabal, so that would seem to clear him... unless the Cabal wasted a kill knowing he would rezz (for cred reasons). Which seems unlikely to me.
So, I might vote floyd to see if tranq is right.
I'm going to listen to what people have to say about others too.
linki @Matt - Your theory that MM is Dr Dre doesn't hold water to me. As for HB's vote - I think between him and Mac they have made it pretty clear that they knew juliets wasn't getting lynched and that there would be some benefit to Mac getting HB's vote instead. I dunno what was going on there, but I have no reason to see that it has to be bad reasons. Whenever I've asked people to lynch me, it's been because I've perceived some way in which I think I can help the civs. I won't be voting either of those ways.

Do you think it could have been a random event? Thats interesting. I, too, assumed it was set there.
My thinking was its an item someone found on the map and activated there, whether or not they knew what it would do I don't know. A 'beacon' sounds like it could be pretty useful (more useful than it was).

I don't think it was random. But whether is was triggered by something or someone put it there, I have no idea. It could have also always been in that space potentially, if that makes sense, and something/someone turned it on, so to speak. I agree it would have been something from night 6. But you seemed to be implying earlier that someone put it there, by your language and the fact that someone was supposedly near there that night.Sorsha wrote:This is what LC said about it earlier. I guess I just wonder if you know more about this than the rest of us...and why you would mention that someone had claimed to be nearby.

Or, something in that square started to shine a light (or the ground started to shine a light if it's an empty square) based on a trigger somewhere.Sorsha wrote:I have been to the space that the beacon was shining from in the past and there was no mention of a beacon being there to turn on.LoRab wrote:Golden wrote:Do you think it could have been a random event? Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8
Bye Faraday.
That was odd. I too wondered about the "beacon of light" when LC posted it, so if it is something from the night before, not sure why it took so long to happen?
In any case, if anyone else was dead, i think the host would have said so
If we are gonna do the instavote thing, Idisagree with Matt to the point that I am going to vote for him.
*Matt F*
Linki~ there are those pulse emmitters that Canuck scattered around. I ran into one, but did not think touching it was a good idea. It was a mechanical device with a probe stuck deep into the ground. That's all I remember about it.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8
Why are people voting and not giving reasons
I just looked over bass's posts and not liking them. When it was Juliets vs Canuck he decided to vote for Canuck then the next two lynches when Juliets was a candidate he was a no show. He's showed up to vote in the night polls but not the lynch polls plus he's been posting elsewhere on the forums during all of this.
I had originally planned on voting Floyd today but his posts from last night have me doubting his baddie-ness. Tranq- how sure are you about Floyd? Do you think you could be mistaken?
What sounds interesting about the beacon fingersplints?

I actually have the morning off, woo-hoo!
So I see there are a million votes on a million people. I'll try to look into each one. The one thing I'm familiar with the most is Tranq's declaration about Floyd having killed him. So bear with, I'm going to try to get back into the saddle a bit, here.

So Mac... going through your posts, you've listed at various times about 8 people who you think are scum, but you've never stuck to one thought for more than about half a day. Can you clarify who you are most suspicious of, and why?
I also notice that you asked me about Dom way back. I have no opinion on him, like I've got no real opinion on most players in the game. I'm trying to catch up here, though.

It's the only thing I've seen visible from anywhere on the map. Don't you think it's interesting?Sorsha wrote:Why are people voting and not giving reasons![]()

Ripiywg dfaraday and bye juliets. I'm taking a break after this game too so see you around soonI think that someone should check it out. Not sure how much there is to speculate on it until we can figure out more though.
I'm starting to think that you put the beacon there

I started out going alphabetical, but bass' post history was boring. He could easily be bad or good, there's just nothing there to chew on.
I also tried looking through the lynch polls to see if juliets and luke's voting patterns matched up with a teammates in any obvious way, but nothing really jumped out at me there. I'll try to focus on reading the people currently being discussed.

Read through splints' posts.
So one question I have for splints, from earlier in the game, is what this post was about:
I read this as you agreeing that sig is suspicious (like the points about sig) but simultaneously suspecting lorab for suspecting sig? What was your gist, here? I don't see how you could suspect both sides of something?
As for the rest of splints' posts, she never really latched onto the cases against the known baddies, but has spent time commenting on things without getting too involved, a lot like how juliets often does. She NO U'd Epig at one point.
I'm not sure anything cries out as baddie specifically, but I don't get a strong civ vibe, either. The latest posts are a bit odd, to say the least, but maybe she's just not caught up?

I like the points about sig, and am interested to hear his response. Lorab's post remarking about Timmer's low posting also bothers me.
Partially because the idea is similar to that of sig's (something discussed in btsc maybe) and this really just feels like trying to set up someone talking about lynching a low poster.LoRab wrote:Thinking about Timmer's death...and RIPIYWG Timmer of course...two things dawn on me. One is that the mafia team was going for a low poster. Two is that it would seem like good strategy for someone to separate themselves from killing a low poster by talking about how against lynching low posters they are. Just a thought.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8
Read through floyd. It'd be easier if I knew his style. He reads as aloof, not really engaging with the game... in some players this could be a baddie sign, in others, a civvie sign, floyd? No idea. The "I don't know what NK means" is hella-odd but maybe other sites genuinely don't use the term? And now he's sort of thrown in the towel asking for replacement. Again, it would help to know the man. I know some people, like SVS, for have actually replaced IN to blown baddie roles, so if it were her, for instance, I wouldn't think baddie at all. But maybe when floyd gets called out he tosses in?
Like with splints, I get no civvie vibe, and floyd hasn't really tried to address tranq's call out against him at ALL. In fact, the fact that Floyd hasn't really addressed it is enough that at this point, I'd vote him easily. Even if someone isn't fully engaged, if they didn't do what someone is saying they did, they fight it a little. I'll actually put a vote on him for now.
Voting Floyd.

Re: Mafia: A World Reborn Game Thread - Day 8
Golden, your DrWilgy suspicion assumes the Cabal is responsible for the restarted Night. Why assume this? Isn't it more likely a non-Cabal restarted the Night?Golden wrote:It feels like a new post-juliets dawn where new suspicions need to come forth.
So, I might vote floyd to see if tranq is right.![]()
I'm going to listen to what people have to say about others too.
I voted Floyd this morning. Again. Looking back, i've suspected him since Day 2

What are your thoughts on Timmer right now?

I'm not sure how you can say that you don't see how I could suspect both sides of something. There are many roles in this game, and because they might not be teammates it doesn't mean they both couldn't be bad or Indy. Lorab responded pretty well after, but what caught my eye in her comment was that she was subtly pushing looking at those who could have been distancing without mentioning names. Seemed vague for Lorab.timmer wrote:Read through splints' posts.

The other thing that bothered me was how many people were jumping on sig while no one was mentioning Lorab for having a similar (although not totally the same corrected by juliets) thought.
