I think so too, but this discussion is something we can talk about at endgame, because it's clear that valued members of our community feel as though it needs to be discussed badly enough to self-destruct within-game.

Now let's please get back to the game, everyone, before this thread degenerates into MORE stuff that should not be in the thread affecting the game that inevitably will affect it.

Hello again padawans. A reminder that I am here for you to talk to, and to abuse. I know the thread can get intense when we are accusing each other of being liars and killers. Let's all do our part to keep it as friendly and upbeat as we possibly can. You are welcome to vent your frustrations to me, and if you have a problem with another player on a personal level, please try to handle it through me and not through the thread :)

I have to leave in a few minutes, but I'm just about caught up with the thread. Let me finish real quick and leave you all with a few of my parting thoughts, then I'll be back this afternoon to dive more deeply into certain players I think we need to thoroughly examine and discuss today, before I cast my vote.

sig wrote:Okay I don't really have much this phase, but I think Sorsha seems scummy. Her lie detecting post as well as her soft defense of Enrique seems scummy to me. She is potential Hutt.
I think either Roxy/Eloh is a scum not sure which though, this is because of their back and forth.
Wilgy is a minor scum ping to me, he hasn't posted much but when he does his posts aren't really that helpful.
I still think we have a few inactive/former inactive people on the Empires team, and maybe one active member but I have no real leads on them outside of this. If they silenced me it seems random at this time.

I think Glorfindel/Space could be mafia this is based off of Glor's game. I'm hesitant about this though since I would like to give Space a chance. I'm also though used to not being able to lynch a replacement there first day. Thoughts on this?

linki: That is interesting, I will need to think on it and reread Zebra.
Yes, Sorsha needs to be examined. I agree that the past few cycles she's been dropping for me, but I haven't really fully gotten a grasp of her recent behavior.

Let's all talk about Sorsha, Roxy, Elo, Wilgy, and Dom. What do you all think of these players?

Regarding GlorfinDaisy, I'm feeling torn. I consistently was reading Glorfindel's relative lack of contributions (except for consistently suspecting Russ) as bad, especially since practically every post he made in his defense was so emotionally over the top. But so far I see an engaged Daisy, and with Rox's recent posts, I'm starting to wonder if there is another thread that players are reading that I'm apparently not reading with regards to the game being unpleasant. Glorfindel's recent sudden replacement, without even so much as a post, and with a weird driveby vote, has me seriously questioning my mafia read and wondering if he really just wasn't able to get into mafia here, found the thread and trying to get a feel for all of the new players too difficult/intimidating, and was never able to rise above the consistent suspicion he was getting. So despite reading him as mafia and skeptically watching Daisy, I'd like to hold off for at least a Day here and see whether Daisy produces town or mafia tells, because so far in what little she has posted I'm reading it as genuine town Daisy.

Linki w/ Mac: I need to leave now in order to give my ACC 2013 their final exam (I know... on a Saturday, my university is sadistic). I want to make one more quick post, but I will explain in detail as soon as I return. For now...

Reading gut civilian on Wilgy, not sure why really, I just think if he is mafia he'd be trying harder by now and couldn't pull the trigger in that direction. Faraday I need to engage with more, but I GTHed him mafia because I can remember that he's been throwing out names but not at all why he suspects any of those names. As to Russ, well, I've still not seen a town spark from him, but based on your original observation and a similar logic as the Wilgy read, he came out town. There obviously are some gut feelings that I haven't fully investigated that are displaying with those reads. Consequently, these are 3 players I want to examine since I have very unfleshed out feelings on them.

If I had to vote right now, it'd be for Dom, and I strongly implore others to consider the same.

I really don't think he believes his own vote, and he's clearly not genuinely hunting for mafia... not just for this Day cycle, but from what I can recall, previous cycles as well.

These are his posts about Mac:

I don't buy this as genuine. This is SO FAR from the civilian questioning Dom I've known ever since my first game of mafia. I think Dom is taking advantage of an already-formed train on Mac, the thread being dominated by both of them, and hoping he can get rid of someone who has been producing a ton of content by piggybacking onto Golden's Mac-o-vision.

Now I have to go, be back this afternoon.

I have no idea why Floyd ditched, but it's possible he was replaced just because he wasn't participating at all. He was definitely a civ, as I am.

Nice of you to join us as soon as the topic is about you.

Epignosis obviously is aware of the situation there and when Floyd went and signed up for Tree Mafia (oh here I am actually putting 2+2 together for the Tree Mafia game by accident) he basically came out campaigning for Floyd to get lynched so I guess he was pissed off about it or at least trying to make Floyd feel bad for it. He also specifically referenced a reason that Floyd ditched, which Floyd claimed was for schoolwork but Floyd then went and signed up for tree mafia. It's not playing the man but it's weird.

And yeah man imagine if you were Floyd. Pretty sure he was scum in 2 of his first 3 games wasn't he?

How am I being two faced? I thought about it some more read through your post and came to the conclusion you seem scummy, certainly more scummy them Matt, who from my understanding is getting votes from fly by voter or based around the Death Star thing.
You lower yourself to insults and you attempt to paint me bad by voting for you, I gave reasoning for my vote and stand by them.
This reaction much like your reaction when I mentioned the hutts and said you were interesting seems odd and scummy.
This interaction between sig and Enrique is a little unusual. Sig soft cased Enrique very early in the game about his opinion of Tattooine favouring the independents and pointed out that it would favour the Hutts. He seemed to have an opinion that Enrique was specifically a Hutt back when Enrique was just being generally scum read not alignment specific and then Enrique called him two faced which infers that he felt Sig was at least friendly with him when I can't see evidence of that at all.
Nice catch.
It would be a nice catch if Enrique had btsc with his teammaates.

BS. Me and Golden are the only two votes on him. You are exaggerating big time. I'm exhausted from playing this game because it used to be fun and now it's turned into "if you don't post 400+ times, you're bad or a bad player" and I'm done with it.

Dom looks like someone who thinks the way you play is exhausting. Dom is pretty done with this idea that everyone who disagrees with you is bad. Dom is also pretty done with the idea that you are somehow supreme command on how to play mafia.

It says Crumb has to amuse his master, Jabba. Jabba was Bcornett. Bcornett was amused by you, apparently twice.

That isn't "daft", it's logical IMO.

Oh, and in the time it took you to tell us about singing christmas carols, you could've responded to Mac whatever Zebra asked you to respond to.

Derp. Back to rereading.
Does nobody else think it's completely ridiculous that someone's role would have to perform a completely subjective act in order to gain benefit, with the sole judge of their success being someone who has btsc with them and not only knows what they have to do but likely shares the benefit? I think the whole idea is dumb tbh. Still catching up.

This attitude is especially annoying when there are 14+ pages almost entirely dedicated to an argument between two players that has literally no benefit to anybody. I'd rather be criticised for being too quiet than actively be flooding the thread with meaningless BS that makes it hard for other people to keep up with the game.

Glorfindel was never close to being lynched and neither was Enrique. That was the day Brian got lynched though, who sig had been null reading.

Sig was on the Enrique bandwagon on day 4 though but it was late enough for him to easily just be voting a goner teammate.

He also calls for us not to analyse Enrique's interactions with other players. I still think he knew their names though? What is the prevailing wisdom on that?

I really do think Enrique was bussed though. Had to be. He ended up with 12 votes on him and almost everybody threw shade at him. He was railroaded. The only question is by whom. Sig would be a good chance at that.

Sig does raise some good points where sorsha defended Enrique in his biggest post. http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 42#p204442

I think it's a stretch to call sig Hutt. But his analysis outside of his read of Enrique and Enrique related material has been less thorough. With less Hutts to hunt he might have run out of things to say?
My team theory fell through with Simon flipping civ, I still think Glor/Space could be a Hutt, but right know I'm recalibrating. I do have a few theories based around the Empire team (inactive players/player) not sure how accurate that is. Besides that I think Sorsha Roxy/Eloh, and Glorfindel (Space) is scum. I'm not sure which team they are, but I'm leaning Hutt on Gorfindel(Space) and Sorsha. I've got a few theories bouncing around, but they are tin foil hat level.

Alright, Sig has pretty consistently voted for Enrique, and voted early on two of those occasions, so that's a good look for him. Although as others pointed out Enrique's two-faced comment could suggest teammates, depending on whether or not Enrique knew his team.

He leans slightly civ on Bcornett, then says Bcornett is pingy and Sig needs to reread him, but ultimately votes Glorfindel instead. That could be read as mild baddie distancing.
sig wrote: Know this is just guesswork, but the Emperor (non BTSC and not responsible for submitting kill) could be active this means out of the other three Stormtrooper, Vader, and Grand Moff whoever was responsible for the kill was inactive. No planet have been exploded, but they could just be waiting. So I've seen a few set ups, either a specific player must submit there kill, any mafia member, or instead of using an ability the mafia kills. The third fits my theory the best. This could mean all three members are MIA or at least missed night 2. In theory if someone else was poisoned Vader could be a poisoner and decided to poison instead of kill. However, what is Vader known for? Force Choke so I'm thinking he has an enforcing/silencing ability.
IF it is silencing well no one has been silenced leading me to think Vader is still inactive. While Stormtrooper/Grand Moff is our killer this time.
sig wrote:Since I don't learn my lesson I'm going to say the same thing I did in LC game. :P

It could be either the Empire is among top poster, Macs idea which has some credence, or they are targeting low posters to not leave a trail. They need them to be dead anyway andSavage was posting enough he wasn't in danger of being Mod killed. They need these players dead and at this point if a high poster is killed and they so much as mentioned a member of their team said team mate could be lynched. Something especially if it is just one or two active players they would no doubt be trying to avoid. We could also have a less experienced mafia player directing the kills, though this would eliminate the Matt/Bass theory.
These suppositions about the Empire felt a little out of the blue and seem to infer a lot (eg. Vader being a silencer, Emperor not submitting the kill, inactive team). It's not unusual for players to hypothesize about their own role/team in-thread, so it's a possibility that could be the case here.

He votes early on Simon, which I don't find particularly suspicious, since I was against Simon as well.

Sig has been pretty consistently wary of Glorfindel, which I agree with, so points to Sig for that.

Conclusion: Overall he reads genuine, and I think he's trying to work things out as best he can. But I don't think he's certified supatown. My leaning is most likely civ, but if he's bad probably Empire.

This has less to do with Golden's statement and more to do with something I've wanted to say. Was gonna just drop it, but since this was posted, will address it...

I absolutely played Boba like I would any civ role. I mentioned Death Star like 8,000 times because I thought it would be cool to go there...there was no ulterior motive.

Just FYI, people. IMO, you didn't "catch" bad Matt.

:sigh:

Anyway, I have about two hours before I go in...which gives me about an hour and fifteen before I start gettin' ready...catchin' up...

If it makes you feel any better Matt, when I first replaced in and read through everything I was quite surprised anyone wanted to lynch you because you looked your typical zany civ self to me. I'd have said as much if I were here.

From what I can recall of your suspicions throughout the game, you've been hopping from one to the next, and you haven't been consistently staying on one player. However, I owe you specific instances, so let me look through your posts ISO and I'll see if my perception matches reality.

What concern do you mean? Sorry, I lost you there.

There's also Glorfindel's vote, but I don't know whether that counts or what's going on with that. You really think a bunch of other players aren't just going to come in and bandwagon onto a big talker? I've seen it before. Yeah, sure, I'm exaggerating, but Mac and Golden are the only two players being talked about (no thanks to themselves), and there's already momentum (which I probably should have used instead of "train", since what I really meant was propensity to be lynched, not votes) on him. I think he's town and producing some of the most meaningful content throughout the entire game, so yeah, I'm going to fight that.

Bullshit. Who said there and where? Mac and Golden have both posted like crazy and are demanding that the other be lynched, so that's not true for them. Several players have also vocalized suspicion for zebra today as well. Is anyone talking about Bass 2.0 and the fact that he's contributed NOTHING since his return, self-voted Day 5, been asked about it, and hasn't posted since? Nope.

How many low posters have been legitimately suspected and lynched, Dom? None. Even Glorfindel, who's had heat for a while, had more than 60 posts before he was replaced. Most of the heat in the game right now is focused around big talkers.

No one is telling anyone else how to play the game. No one is saying that you have to contribute 400 posts to be civilian. Who the hell is saying that?

Excuse me for getting a bit upset, but this is clearly incorrect, and I don't know what thread you, Rox, and others are reading, because I clearly DENOUNCED MULTIPLE TIMES the 14-page bullshit back and forth between Golden and Mac.
