Fingers has been kind of giving boq some pursed lips contrary to thread consensus. Boq called Fingers out for being passive aggressive towards him. Later boq is using this to town read Fingers, because going against the grain and not accepting his placement as consensus town is town indicative to him. Which I do think is somewhat valid, although a little bit weak I guess, now that I think about it. But yeah... let me just have this train of thought fizzle out, there we go

I feel like it was not random that I was sussed in the manner that I was, especially with ender and marmot hopping on seanzies push and hopping off after (and a long time after) seanzie hopped off. I haven't looked closely at how jjj attracted sus, but that happened. seeing as how you and marmot are reforming a towncore is alarming to me because the breakdown of towncore felt very strategic, thus the remaining members are not scum since they would have encouraged the previous towncore if it was infiltrated and they would retain their influence and thread control. however that's not how things worked out

The timestamps for me are 7:26am for the vote post and 1:18pm for the next one, so it looks like they switched their vote to Wilgy and then dipped for a few hours, fine. But the poll doesn't match up. I was taking screenshots every once in a while, and a screenshot at 9:22am shows Dizzy's vote still on Fingersplints, the next screenshot at 10:58am shows the vote now on Wilgy. So basically somewhere between 2-4 hours after the vote post is when they voted in the poll, during a time when they weren't otherwise posting in the thread. Does this say anything about their alignment? No, I don't think it does. But it does lend some support to my gut feeling that they're not as disengaged as they appear, which is why I wanted some more eyes on them today.

I wouldn't touch Nate until FX.

@lucy, in your Discord Mafia experience, could you describe just briefly how that feels? I have never played a chat Mafia game. Is it a continuously torrent pace? Are there breaks in the action? Do players come and go at their leisure, or do they hover over the chat game all day? Hell, how long is a typical day phase in that style?

the best of them are similar-ish to forum mafia except people aren’t reading the actual actions of other players, lots of PR’s and very little reads that aren’t based off NK’s and other deaths/failed tunnels/cop investigations. it’s live chat but also 24/24 where people are talking (not usually about the actual game though) and eventually some reads do occur out of live chatting and they’re voted on until they claim/fake claim, clusterfucks. most people make themselves available to talk for a bit more than once a day, there are breaks in actions. and at the end of the game all the active players are dead and it’s basically a coin toss of who wins because the alive players haven’t played the game closely at all, since they’re alive

I think that, with lucy, there is value in starting with an understanding of her origins. She comes from a chat mafia landscape, and that likely encourages posts of a certain Discord-friendly structure (one line, sentence > paragraph, stream of thought, real-time > detached). Her games have also largely been very different to mountainous save for champs Game 7. This may or may not prove meaningful, but it's a frame for interpreting lucy.

I have had people who I got into a good talk about good tv shows before put a blind spot on me because I didnt want to figure out their slot because we were enjoying each others company. They were wolf and we lost so hard, so I am not letting anything innocent pass

A few things I wanna say before we get started for those of you who don’t know. Champs, particularly in qualifiers is incredibly scumsided. The current stats are 54 wolf wins to 19 town wins for qualifiers. Not only that but from what I know there has only ever been one town sweep in qualifier game for champs, and my goal is for us to be the second . Few things I’ve picked up from that game and previous champs games this year that I think might be important for us to incorporate and areas where I picked up previous towns went wrong

-This point may already be obvious to some but : the most important thing you can do as a villager is make yourself an obvious villager. The last town that swept was led by Jjj/spf and they encouraged a playstyle that focussed heavily on finding other townies first before hunting for wolves and the best way to facilitate that is by making yourself an obvious townie and taking yourself out of the miselimination pool and working with open communication to find other townies. Champs by nature encourages a glory hunting playstyle where people want to be the one who catches wolves before everyone and be the one to bury wolves but the most successful towns have always been the ones that focussed more on working with each other and finding other townies before trying to bury wolves. If we can all do our part to raise the bar of towniness wolves will eventually out themselves and either be forced to push obvious townies and further out themselves, bus each other or just give up and lolcat.

- if the game starts too feel too easy it probably means there’s something wrong. The stats don’t lie, this is favored for wolves which means it’s not supposed to be easy for us. People often go for the easiest/least accountable votes on d1 but keep in mind wolves have teammates and I’ve rarely seen wolves bus hard d1 in champs. So if the entire lobby is dogpiling on one or two slots d1 don’t get complacent because we could be way off.

I was asked who I have currently most equity on, and answered.

I didn't put a lot of thought into it tbh.

Lucy started the game with a flurry of posts: 85 during the 24 hours of Day 0. She explicitly indicated that she thought Day 0 was intended as a time for getting to know people more than Being Serious (which, by the way, is a really nice thought for future Days 0 regardless of lucy's alignment). She did not really make reads during this period. Perhaps the Day 0 vibe can be called an excuse. To get a better grip of this I have compiled a bunch of lucy posts from this period that, while not "reads", may reflect some kind of process or effort by lucy to make getting reads possible.

This isn't every such post, but it's many of them. If I double the number to be generous, that gives me 35-40 halfway game-relevant posts out of the 85. That's not a bad rate considering the context of lucy's interpretation of the phase. If that's too generous, I'm not sure the point diminishes much. In any event take this all as a small point, because in the end -- concrete reads have more power.

The content continues through Day 1 and takes on basically the same shape. I could quote all that stuff again, but I don't think it would be an insightful addition to this review. In all, if my counting is accurate, lucy finished Day 1 at 179 posts, which reflects 58% of her current total post count. That's actually lower than I anticipated, because while she has slowed down since the early game, she hasn't fallen off the map. When she is in the thread she seems to make it count at least in terms of being active.

It sounds like you were going in with a preconceived outcome and looking for evidence to support that. Or did you approach it from a more holistic point of view?

more of a psychological point of view of the specific thoughts in a message and how bluntly or passively and how long a message took to make, just seeing it like that, if I disliked it (as in I thought he was town) I just would not vote and he'd be lynched regardless

This was the 8th vote on the falcon wagon and the last vote anyone placed on Day 1. That placement doesn't mean a whole lot to me. The severe language of the suspicion is striking though. This first post is rather one-of-a-kind in the lucy ISO so far (and to my immediate memory, in all her posts this game). I can't recall if lucy expanded on this later, so I'll see.

because you're reading everything and responding with a fine tooth comb, actually putting a decent amount of work into formulating your own reads and responding to odd messages and getting into arguments based off specific wording. being more aggressive would be relative to the effort a player has put into the game

Seanzie wondered the same thing I did and lucy provided an answer. I don't really understand it. The description lucy provides for what Seanzie has done seems to be what she said Seanzie has not done. This may be semantic in the end, but I can understand Seanzie's concern in the moment -- that lucy received tips about Seanzie's play outside the game thread. Perhaps that can relate to mafia chat, or perhaps it's part of the warnings she received about the lobby before the game, or perhaps neither.

You really should actually read my ISO.

I am wary of them. I have found some of their analysis questionable, and possibly having an agenda. Some of their takes seem overly generous, and early on I got the feeling that they were less worried about my alignment than they were about my reads. Them voting Creature is bad IMO as well, considering that Creature is sometimes an easy miselim, and I don't sense wolf!Creature here.

That being said, I think I am just naturally wary of anyone who has as much threadclout as Jay demands, and in the past it has taken me many days and wolf flips to really come to trust Jay, so I am not confident in pushing him too hard. Besides, it feels a bit moot as even if I wanted to push him, there isn't the threadsupport for that push, so I am more inclined to try to flip another wolf and see if their flip supports a scum!Jay world, in which then there might be threadsupport for it.

This is something I commented on earlier in the thread. By this point my view of lucy had degraded from a comfortable town read to something less than that, and lucy suspected foul play. I appreciate that she directly addressed Seanzie to hash out this point about Marmot and I. It would have been pretty easy to just lay down some shade, but lucy took enough care to ask for someone's perspective first.

Conclusion

I'm not sure how useful this was to me. As I suggested earlier, the chat Mafia aesthetic is not especially amenable to a forum-styled ISO review. Many of the points I made in this I felt like I had to squeeze harder than I would like to derive a perspective, because it's not hard to see posts through multiple lenses good or bad. There are little tidbits I like, albeit with a low degree of confidence. Holistically I am less sure about the direction of lucy's hunt beyond exactly "attentive to Marmot and Boq". I am still developing my overall view of the game, but I suspect lucy will fall into a fringe POE region.

The timestamps for me are 7:26am for the vote post and 1:18pm for the next one, so it looks like they switched their vote to Wilgy and then dipped for a few hours, fine. But the poll doesn't match up. I was taking screenshots every once in a while, and a screenshot at 9:22am shows Dizzy's vote still on Fingersplints, the next screenshot at 10:58am shows the vote now on Wilgy. So basically somewhere between 2-4 hours after the vote post is when they voted in the poll, during a time when they weren't otherwise posting in the thread. Does this say anything about their alignment? No, I don't think it does. But it does lend some support to my gut feeling that they're not as disengaged as they appear, which is why I wanted some more eyes on them today.

I wouldn't touch Nate until FX.

Well the last three people I cleared off timestamp reads didn't replicate it in their scum games so I'm still gonna trust it. I will be using timestamp reads until I get burned for them and it's been 4 years and I haven't.
