This "capitalize" is very vague to me. I don't think these distinctions have as clear-cut a follow-up as you are laying it out here. I don't even really think this discussion is all that useful.speedchuck wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 3:41 pmIf we mislynch, mafia follow up on it. We make the decisions, mafia capitalize.
If we no-lynch, mafia has to make the decision. We get to capitalize on the info that gives us.

Not much we can do.

Re: Pikachu Tribe - Day 1
I think that, with certain exceptions, mafia tend to be somewhat more careful than civilians. sprityo followed the above up with this:S~V~S wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 3:47 pmIf he only skimmed the host post, possibly. I don't think ANYONE regardless of affiliation would admit that unless they had skimmed the host post. It is possible he came in before hitting the chat, or even that no one was in the chat.
And Chuck, LC, is it true that Chuck and Sprit made the same error regarding DH originating the RR?
linki @ DH, yeah.
And then this:
This indicates to me that sprityo is playing loose and not really paying attention. Look at that last quote: He hopes he doesn't get lynched Day 1 because he's super excited about playing? Was he unaware that getting lynched would not preclude him from playing further?
If you think sprityo is bad, then I think you either have to make the argument that these posts are fake, or that sprityo is completely comfortable playing the loose cannon and depriving his team of one of his lives and abilities this early, even though Days 1 generate the easiest civilian lynches.
I don't think either one of those things is the case.

The way I would design such a game is that there would the baddie team(s) would begin with a diminished size, designed to grow to a balance as the second lives emerge.speedchuck wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 3:54 pmNew role, sure. New alignment, not super likely, unless this game is completely broken. If we no-lynch, mafia has to make the decision. We get to capitalize on the info that gives us.
Then again, in that unlikely circumstance, if that person they nightkilled doesn't get nightkilled the next night, we might think something's up.
Mafia will be setting the pace, giving us something to go off of. Not much, but it's something.
You may not think it's worth it. You may be right. But these are not normal circumstances, and it's worth thinking about.
Hmm... having said that, what if the Civ-who-will-turn-bad end up surviving and winning on their first lives? One way to help force the issue would be to have certain Civ roles that are guaranteed to make the second-life transition. colonialbob, you might just be such a role. Better hedge your bets.

I think that a player's personality is a much greater factor in deciding how they play. Even if your theory is right, I'd arbitrarily put it at 3% alignment-related, 96% personality-related, 1% zodiac-sign-related.Epignosis wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 4:39 pmI think that, with certain exceptions, mafia tend to be somewhat more careful than civilians...S~V~S wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 3:47 pmIf he only skimmed the host post, possibly. yeah, that's fine with me. I really think sprityo is civ (especially with the points Epi just made) and also claimed to have a cool role, and I think probably everyone else is immune and I'd rather have a no-lynch than lynch a civ.speedchuck wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 3:13 pm Does anyone else have opinions on the no-lynch?
I know there's no option, but we could pile all our votes on an invincible person. Like me.

It would be hilarious, then, if the 3 recruits slipped the radar and we lynched the two mafia early.Epignosis wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 4:20 pm For all you know, speedchuck, there could be two active mafia in BTSC right now. One here and one in the other tribe. That could easily mean three potential recruits from the dead coming back evil.
What I am saying is that you cannot make assumptions about what mafia will do with their kills because of assumptions you are making regarding the setup.
But I suppose we can wait and see.
If there are a lot of recruits, then our lynches might backfire even more catastrophically.

We can approach this Day as though it is Day 2 and colonialbob was lynched Day 1.
DDL had something of a negative reaction to colonialbob, but colonialbob didn't appear to suspect DDL for it. Then colonialbob voted sprityo.
For someone who basically got outed as a civilian until at least Day 6, that wasn't a very useful read.

Re: Pikachu Tribe - Day 1
I have no suspicion of colonialbob or sprityo.
I have mild suspicion of S~V~S, because she's S~V~S. And because she expects me to suspect people over punctuation (it's 2018, not 2014), and also because I think I made a compelling argument in favor of sprityo being a civilian and she's still parked there knowing he could get lynched.
I have a mild suspicion of DDL based on his interactions with colonialbob and because he said:
I have a moderate suspicion of Dom. I know he can be quiet. I don't care. This is the Game of Champions.
I have a moderate suspicion of speedchuck, which may well be because he is not seeing things the same way I am (read: correctly), and so that may be coloring my opinion of him. However, his suggestion of a "no-lynch" is objectively awful, especially in a game that won't be over until Simon graduates high school.
I have no opinion of anyone else.

OK Great now I'll say this:
I'm not going to use the vote tag in subsequent votes, regardless of what the hosts decide to do or not do to address the tag. It's gross looking, distracting to me, and legitimately makes me feel disoriented when I look at it. I don't like it and I won't be using it.
Anyway. Easily predictable result. Very sketchy literally-last-minute push to vote for Quin, a guy who really didn't ruffle any feathers as far as I can recall and was not here/could not conceivably defend himself from a push like that with maybe 90 seconds on the clock.

Was Quin a civilian or not?

Did you expect speedchuck to survive if he got the most votes?DharmaHelper wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 7:03 pmThere was no result. Which is what was easily predictable. A no lynch. A dud. Quin survived. Re: Pikachu Tribe - Day 1
I mean literally my first post in this game was that I was gonna be inactive day 1.
And I'm dead right now so I'm not catching up. Later.

Some suspicious shit WAS going on. You guys voted for Quin out of the blue nowhere with like *maybe* two minutes left on the poll. You don't find that suspicious?
