Thanks for hosting, Epi. Very cool set up. The game was challenging and seriously fun and I feel like it could have swung both ways. I mean, me and Eloh had given up several times in the scum chat and just said we'd have fun till we got lynched, that's all we could do with Mata's watches looming over us and juliets not dropping it. I was >this< close to throwing my towel in the other day before I came up with that fake role claim lol.

Now I know why I was lynched, that shit would not have flown with me at all. LC was clearly town. And I didn't even read endgame, I saw the poll and knew immediately dunya was bad because civ dunya would never have voted for LC in that situation.

Also I wished I was still alive so I could tell you I had been blocked. But I hadn't been sure until the night I died.

This game was fun, but I had just as much fun following after I died. The new style of playing is also fun, but now it’s time for me to point out one thing about old skill playing:

When a person is killed and they are revealed to be a watcher, read! My role specifically says I get the name of anyone who targets my target.
Dunya claimed that she did not target Nutella on night one and she did not target Nova on night 4. I made a case against Dunya, on day 5, a crap one, admittedly, but I was quite adamant about it. After I was killed, didn’t anyone other than Juliet’s get it? I had her name as targeting someone, I had her in my red list, anyone? How could she not target someone but I had a pic of her targeting someone?

And Elo! Oh my word, she said she did not use her power all game. Then how did I get a picture of her using her power?

It’s true that I suspected her before I got her picture targeting JJJ, but either way, I had her in my red list right before I was killed.

Old Skool doesn’t ignore evidence, and someone should have called out their claims of not using their powers. Omg I was half laughing, half screaming at my phone all end game!

I was watching people saying ‘don’t vote me it’s not fair’, and watching people say ‘ok maybe I wont’. I’m like wth???? How do people play this game without using info?

The MacDougall lynch was accidental. I was in too deep when they all decided on him instead of nutella and I couldn't justify having a last minute change of heart. I do feel bad about it, and will reassess my distancing methods for future games in 2020.

Ahhh. Not sure what that was. I wasn't even sure what I WAS going to claim. At first, I was going to claim jailkeeper of some kind (it would explain the block). The fact that Jay was saved on N2 and then also came in and said his action failed was like a lifesaver. We knew there was a jailkeeper. Then I started thinking how people would react to a town blocker. The fact I'd blocked townies would have looked bad so I couldn't do it. The doctor was just random bullshit, a final hail mary. I do hate roleclaiming (you can check all my games, I don't like it), so that much was true.

Hope you enjoyed this game a little more than Gossip Girl since you had a very active role

The problem with that is I didn’t know all the roles. There could have been a role that switches peoples targets. I literally was thinking about My Old School, ‘California tumbles into the sea’, maybe the ground shifts and all targets move. I overthink things.
Plus, like Dunya, I’m not too keen on role claiming unless I’m about to be lynched. It takes some of the mystery out of the game, you know? So I left both Dunya and Elo at 80% or more red. Next time, I’ll try to play your way and just assertively put it out there.

I think the problem was that you had consistently suspected her, and the suspicion grew kind of organically. It was hard to pinpoint when it developed and if it was a cause of your role.

And to be fair, juliets was dying to get Eloh and/or me lynched as soon as you flipped watcher for town (something we weren't expecting at all).

The way I see a game may or may not allow role claiming.

The next two games I'm gonna host (both of which should be soon) will not allow it. Maybe sign up to them if you can.

But if a game does allow it, then there is nothing wrong with people doing it. It's part of the game.

I don't mean to bash you, btw. When I came into this site in 2015, all games banned role claiming. Things have changed so it's normal if you found them strange. And I don't think things necessarily have to change all the way, that's why I still make games that ban claiming now and then. Just letting you know that what some things that used to be socially unacceptable are now acceptable.

And claiming doesn't necessarily make a game less fun. If the game is well designed, it can add a whole new dimension to it (though if its badly designed it can break it).

Generally a game should be designed so that revealing your role doesn't usually save you. And investigations are limited so town can't win with just them. Case in point: this game.

If you can't guarantee that, just ban claiming and call it a day.

Thank you JJJ and DUNYA for the kind words. I will try next time to just come out with it. Dunya, Gossip Girl was every bit as fun as this for me. My fun comes from playing detective and trying to peg the baddies, like reading a mystery and trying to solve it before you get to the end, so being vanilla was good for my first game back.
I think the next game I’m signed up for is an open set up, so I’ll compare the styles afterwards. If I can get past the claiming hang up, then I will definitely play another closed set up.
