Is this a trick question, lol? The best essay I ever wrote about was Montaignes Apology; I wrote a thesis on it for a Western Philosophy class. The best essay I ever wrote myself was about the relative nature of time (not relativity in a scientific sense, but in a philosophical sense). It got published in the school literary magazine.

On a side note, I think all Mafia players should read Montaignes Essays at least once; the lens of skepticism and self knowledge they present can be illuminating.

I probably wouldn't have gone to law school. Six years later, I'm not working in my field but I still owe $100k. But I did make the best friends of my life there, so I'm not married to that answer.

Dr Bernadette McCoy~ she was a former nun, and the first teacher I had that was a Dr (she taught High School english), and she was the first Dr I had met that was a woman. She lived an entire life before she decided to leave the nuns and become a teacher. She taught me that it is never too late, and that you can do anything you set your mind to doing.

Beverly Miller. Unashamedly racist, rude, demeaning, demanding, and only taught me what one should not be as a teacher. There is a close second, but I'm going to watch TV and don't want to rant.

Why did you decide to go into the occupation you went into?

There is a Twilight Zone episode, where the guy is alone in the world after a nuclear holocaust, and has all the time in the world to read. He goes to the library, and trips on the library steps and breaks his glasses.

Now, i am blind as a bat sans glasses or contacts, and that SO HORRIFIED me that i became an optician, and can now make my own glasses.

Have you ever done volunteer work?

Oh sure. Helped build roofs, served food, worked in a clothing closet, helped a guy get bicycle (which was fucking stolen that same week )- a variety of things.

What's the best volunteer experience you ever had?

At a dog shelter years ago, after the Storm of the Century, a little girls family had left the dog in the house when they evacuated (back in those days they said to do that) and the dog had gotten out when the house got damaged. I was in the back with the dogs, and I was with this dog when he heard his girls voice. He froze, and then he kinda melted. Seeing them reunited made up for some of the assholes that abuse animals that you see when volunteering at a shelter.

Have you ever feared for your life from a natural disaster?

No. I've seen some really bad hurricanes, but I never feared for my life, no.
