Perhaps you should give two sets of analysis then, one for serious, and one for not-serious. What are your impressions of Epi - Civ or Mafia?
That's an intriguing suggestion. I'll try it out, especially since I sort of skimmed Epi's posts with you and INH.

this post would feel super forced to me if serious. If not-serious, clearly just a way to start discussion by throwing some mud so to speak. I'd say slightly suspicious if serious, slightly town if not-serious.

this post also feels obviously not-serious, but I don't really know how to interpret his string of posts with INH in terms of alignment. Null either way.

No matter. It served its purpose. You are a civilian.
If serious, this post confirms Epi's not-serious mud flinging posts earlier as an attempt to uncover alignments, so I'd say this furthers that perspective and looks town as such. If not-serious, it's confusing, because I'm not sure why Epi would joke about a town read.

Epi is a slight town read. I guess I also cleared up my own confusion.

I think you can demonstrate your alignment without needing to be incredibly active.

What if I told you that the fact you keep excusing your lack of activity reminds me of something I do across both alignments but feel more pressure to do when I'm mafia versus town?

Unfortunately for all of you, I don't think I'm that good at hunting for mafia.

Let's talk strategy.

This is a relatively straightforward setup -- 9 vanilla townies, 1 cop townie, and 3 vanilla mafia. However, this kind of setup is still relatively new to The Syndicate, which largely has a player base historically much more comfortable or exclusively comfortable with open-setup role madness games. As a result, having hosted this setup exactly (Pet Sounds) as well as similar setups, I've seen towns at this site inadvertently put themselves into disadvantageous situations due to not knowing how to play with this setup. Consequently, I think it's very worthwhile to consider discussing a strategy as to how we want to approach this setup.

The fact that the mafia has no Godfather or similar role means that the Cop is an incredibly valuable role in this setup. This should change the way that both the mafia and vanilla townies approach this game; mafia need to eliminate the Cop ASAP and the vanilla townies need to both draw NKs to keep the Cop alive and avoid inadvertently lynching the Cop.

We cannot do much to avoid the latter other than by solving the game normally and hoping that the Cop works hard to prove his or her town alignment, but we can devise a strategy to accomplish the former. This could be accomplished in one of two ways, both of which I've witnessed in different heists here:

1) Fake peeks and claims, etc. so that the Cop can safely breadcrumb and the mafia won't know whom to kill; however, such an approach could be risky if players carelessly out themselves as vanilla to the mafia, thereby helping the mafia to eliminate who isn't the Cop based on clearly incorrect fake peeks.
OR
2) The absence of fake peeks and claims completely so that the mafia have literally no information by which to hunt for the Cop other than guessing based on in-thread activity alone; however, such an approach could be risky because the Cop has no safe way to divulge information without putting him/herself at risk, and we could have a situation in which the Cop dies suddenly without having any of his/her information. That is incredibly not ideal and essentially would reduce this setup to 10 vanilla townies versus 3 vanilla mafia, which is advantageous to the mafia.

I think it's worthwhile to consider how to approach strategy here, rather than going around blind, and what better time to discuss this than on Day 0? What do you all think?

If it wasn't clear, I think strategy 1) is the vastly preferable option. HOWEVER, I don't want to just claim anything or encourage people to claim anything if most of us aren't going to anyway.

The strategy worked out really well for town in the Arrested Development heist (in which Daisy was the Cop and masterfully used her role to the town's benefit while Turnip Head and I provided fake peek cover and got NKed so Daisy could then solve the game). However, it could have just as easily backfired on us that game because over half of the players did not end up peeking or claiming anything and we did not discuss any strategy as to whether we should engage in peeking or not; TH, Daisy, Wilgy, and I just peeked without concern. It could specifically have backfired in that the mafia could have simply kept NKing the claimers, figuring the Cop had to be among those who did peek/claim something, which would have been accurate, since Daisy consistently claimed her real information, even if she was trying to seem like a vanilla townie faking it.

Day 1 - Skeleton Tiger
"You can do what you want..."

...road to the right. Had he had time to consider and decide, perhaps selecting the path where all of the street lights were on would have been a preferable choice. Floyd's sight gradually faded into darkness. A thick blanket of blackness swarmed him.

Strike! Floyd drew blood and fell to Earth.

He was discovered the next day in a pool of blood. The coroners revealed he death was due to a depletion in blood caused by severe, deep scratches of a skeleton tiger. The scratches were in the form of the mafia's symbol. Those witnessing the deceased man's final state swore to avenge the innocent man.
