Oh, also I just wanted to say thanks for organizing this, Sloonei. Definitely think this will be a great opportunity for reps to experience the setup in addition to just being a really fun game for everyone.

That's such an exaggerated stereotype. It is often grey (which I admit I appreciate more than many people do, and we do still get a good amount of sunshine as well) but the rain is seldom more than a light drizzle. It very rarely pours hard like it does back east (though I do really miss thunderstorms/harder rains sometimes). And it doesn't get too intensely hot and humid in the summer like it does in the east and the winters are milder as well. Basically it's better in every way.

Generally we get more sun than you think, and a good amount of rain is better than the alternative. Makes for extremely beautiful lush green and colorful springs.

The dry part of the year is the worst, when we've had the horrible wildfires the last couple years.

The east is one general climate. Maine doesnt exists when talking about temperatures and I guess neither does Nevada or Arizona where it’s so hot and humid all the time it’s awful. There is only California and??? Florida?

The PNW and the only relevant part of the east coast is on the same longitude so they have the same climate so like.... what makes the west so great when the East has all the good cities

We just need 5 more and we can get this underway. If any of you know of anyone who might be interested, don't be afraid to invite them here. My hope for this game remains to be as diverse as possible in our player roster. The more communities we can have represented, the closer we'll be to a real tournament atmosphere.

I'm about to go away for the weekend, so the earliest I'd possibly be able to start this is Monday if we fill it in that time. If we can manage to get those last 5 people in here by Easter, I can have roles sent out on Monday.

In the meantime, I encourage everybody to review the rules and the mechanics in the first post. Lots of things in this game are not standard for Syndicate users, and other things are not quite as they will be for the tournament; I also anticipate that certain Syndicate software features might take some getting used to for our newcomers.

Hmm the problem was with captcha question and it doesnt work with my gmail account , had to create a yahoo acvount to get verification.

Also if i fail to remember the captcha question pops and says the answer is wrong.

If all else fails, it is probably doable to reduce the player count to 15 and adapt the setup slightly to compensate (without losing its spirit or strategic intent).

So... given nutella is now scheduled for Game 1, I'd say it'd be great to still run this thing, but maybe we should run it as a post-Game 1 qualifier sort of thing, or at least some other time.

With that said, regardless this game cannot possibly serve the purpose of being a scrimmage to nutella at least, so that's unfortunate -- but it was a fantastic idea and attempt for sure. Perhaps it can still serve that purpose for anyone else in later games though.

As things currently stand, I intend to start the game as soon as it fills up (exception being that Monday's my birthday, so I probably won't be able to get it off the ground then

). I made a commitment to run this game and people have been invited here specifically to play in the game. I would hate to let those folks down. And I also want to thank you all again for signing up. I hope that this thing will be underway soon. Feel free to continue inviting people, @everyone.

That said, I regret that we will be unable to run this game in time for nutella to use it as a warm-up for her game. She's certainly still welcome to participate if she's inclined, but I would encourage her to not have any other mafia obligations while her tournament game is ongoing.
Not that it matters too much. I am 100% certain that she will hold her own over there. It's what she do.

I'm totally cool with continuing this thing if everyone else (sans nutella if she feels obligated to back out, which I understand) still is game. I hope my previous statement didn't come across as inconsiderate or rash. I imagine any reps just might want to keep in mind their schedule once they figure it out, but every person is free to proceed however they want. At the end of the day I defer entirely to Sloonei's judgment, since he's the one who put together this thing. If he's game and we can get it filled, let's do it.
