I am very excited for Dan's game, and that I am a part of it! I voted yes but quite honestly, whatever works best for most people is fine with me.

On an unrelated note, I have never read or seen The Hobbit. Which is funny because I have read and love The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, and even The Lost Tales. I have not watched the movie, because I refuse to do so before I have read the book...

Sooo your venerable host (Long may he reign!) needs to put on his sheepish face.

Apparently polls can only be set for a certain number of days, not hours, as I noticed yesterday and have since had confirmed (thanks, Epi). In light of that, I have realized I need to be awake when the polls end. Given that and player responses to the poll, Official Poll Ending Time for the Moment will be 6m EST (midnight in most of Europe, or 3pm PST). That's a bit earlier than I was saying originally, but it will allow the polls to get later and later (as I'm sure they will) while shutting as few people as possible out of last-minute voting opportunities. Hopefully that is agreeable to everyone.

By my count, we are waiting for just over 1/3 of the players to check in. So, at 6pm EST, a new Day 0 poll will go up! It will last one real-time day, and then we'll get on to lynching people starting Friday. This is a little after the original Day 0 poll was supposed to end, but hopefully it'll work out best. If you've already checked in by posting or voting, your Gold for the day is guaranteed, but voting in the Day 0.2 poll would still be cool.

Sorry for any confusion! Hopefully for the rest of the game it will be less painfully obvious that I'm new.

So since there's nothing else going on right now, I had an idea...

In the Hobbit, lots of characters have fun nicknames. "Smaug the Unassessably Wealthy, Chiefest and Greatest of Calamities", and Bilbo "Luckwearer, Barrel-Rider" Baggins come to mind.

Come up with nicknames for your fellow players! Top 3 submissions will get 100 gold. Contest is open until Day 0 ends. Mean or demeaning names will not be accepted.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words. It was really thoughtful :)
Anyway, my husband is coming back tomorrow, so I'm already feeling better, and I need a break from all the cleaning and tiding up, so I'm here :D
Just read the last few posts. While I enjoyed all the names you're all coming up with, it seems like a good way for baddies to blend in and take the conversation to more comfortable places. I'll let it slide for now, because it's amusing and to be honest, I don't feel like being too serious myself, at the moment, but at some point, we're going to have to start actually looking for baddies.
By the way, is it still day 0 or are we in day 1?

Actually, I'm going to change this once more. All but 6 players have now checked in, and one of those just got her role a few hours ago. Poll is going up now, followed shortly by the Day 1 post. Note that the Day 1 lynch will actually END SATURDAY, JUST AFTER 4:30pm EST.

Because of the repeated changes to Day 0's schedule, ALL players will be receiving their 100 gold for the Day, regardless of whether they have checked in.

Contest entries will be accepted until I go to bed in about an hour. If you read this later and feel that you had something to contribute to the contest but did not get to participate because of the change, PM me and I will judge your entry on its own merits.
