You guys are all making me hungry. I am considering my daily grapefruit but I don't like to eat this late. Maybe I will eat two of them tomorrow.

Got my grapefruit!
Sometimes I cut them in half and sprinkle Stevia or Splenda on top, but usually I just peel 'em and eat 'em like an orange.

That said, I'm currently making both egg salad and beans and rice. I'm not sure which I'll eat tonight but both of them are delicious.

What do you put in your egg salad? For a long time I was putting curry into my mixture, but now I'm on a tarragon kick instead.
I just had some cashew butter on some wheat Saltines. Not my favorite, but I was really rushing out the door this morning.

I usually make it very basic. Eggs, celery, onion, mayo, mustard, paprika, salt, pepper. Tarragon sounds like an interesting twist though. I may have to try that next time! (I adore dill in potato salad btw.)Mongoose wrote:bea wrote:the last bit of the 3rd shift amber lager.

Your "make it better with food" meal sounds divine. I'm going to make a lasagna at some point this week, just haven't figured out which day yet.
Tonight I'm making this: http://www.recipetips.com/recipe-cards/ ... tables.asp - I tweeked it a bit (I usually do most recipes) - I also added a bit of thyme to the spice mix, and I used Marsala wine for the broth. I also have a crap ton of fresh corn on the cob so I cut up a couple cobs into manageable sizes and tossed that in the crock pot as well. Currently, I'm boiling potatoes to make mashed potatoes. I think I'm going to use the hand masher for them this time as I am looking for a more chunky consistancy with this dish than I usually get from my Kitchen-Aid.

2 more hours to go - chicken quarters - with carrots, onion, squash, zuccini, red and yellow potatoes. Cooked for 8 hours in the crock pot - seasoned with some dill, some thyme, some turmeric, some majorium, a bay leaf and just a sprinkle of chinese 5 star spice on each chicken quarter.
I'm still waiting for it to be done so I can decide if it was awesome or fail yet.

Re: What are you eating RIGHT NOW???
Chicken turned out pretty great. Only adjustment to the plan I would make is to not give it quite the low slow 8 hour cook. I dished out all the veggies and potations, but when I went to pull the chicken quarters out, they just crumbled apart from cooking so long. On the plus side - the meat was nice and juicy and easy to eat. On the down side, it didn't look very visually appealing.
I tossed in a can of chicken broth too thinking that I would make gravy. IDK, maybe less liquid in the crock pot would have helped to keep things together a bit more?

I would have thought it was cherries! You know, I almost said in my post that I don't split them and pour sugar on top. I love the way peeling a grapefruit feels, probably because the peel is so thick. I separate it into segments and eat it that way. No sweetener needed. I like white grapefruit over red.thellama73 wrote:Grapefruit is my favorite fruit. I've had a grapefruit pie, but it was kinda like a key lime pie. I've not had candied grapefruit peel, but I tend not to like candied things. I definitely like sweet things, but never for breakfast and never too sweet. I think that's why citrus flavors are always my fave. I think grapefruit paired with vanilla is amaze! Zevia has a great grapefruit soda if I want to splurge on a beverage.thellama73 wrote:I made a grapefruit pie once, which was not an unqualified success.Mongoose wrote:I would have thought it was cherries! I had one of those Chobani flips and I bought it because it was Peach with some pistachio seeds. What I didn't see was that there was also dark chocolate bits in the little flip cup as well. The dark chocolate totally takes over the flavor of the peach. I don't recommend this one at all. I had a pina colada type one yesterday that was quite good. I have a blueberry chia saved for tomorrow. I eat these like desserts because they have soooo much sugar. At least they have a good amount of protein (about 15g).

oh - yea - dark chocolate with peach just doesn't seem like a good combo. Peaches are so light in flavor. I'd say at *best* milk chocolate.
*puts on thinking cap* - I wonder how white chocolate and peach would taste. Would it be like a jacked up peaches-n-cream?

My sister in law just made this amazing thing out of a banana, peanut butter, cocoa powder and an egg in a coffee mug in the microwave. It was stupendous.

waiting for my favorite "I can't be assed to think about cooking right now, but I want something to eat" dish.
Past w/ butter and parm cheese. It's frightening how much I love this. Waiting on the pasta to cook now...

That sounds awesome. Can you and your mom come out here in a couple weeks and make that for me?

Re: What are you eating RIGHT NOW???
For brunch today for myself I made two eggs over medium served on top of grits with some hollandaise sauce on top. I made cherry-limeade pancakes for my husband. I can't do sweet in the mornings.
For the third day in a row, he is refusing to make me coffee, so we are having iced Earl Grey lattes.
