I have had one idea, but I'm also keeping it to myself until I see how day 1 plays out. Will be funny to see if it is the same thing you see lol.

I chose telegram for 3 reasons:

a) I read this amazing book on the telegraph in journalism school at UF called The Victorian Internet, which was about the invention and proliferation of this communication medium.

b) because Logan and I use them as a plot device in our Film Noir game

c) I always think Singing Telegrams would be a great fundraiser around the holidays, but no one ever bites at this.

FWIW - it is not at all unusual for BF to ask me stuff like that at any point in a mafia game, in fact it's quite common.

First game here. Is there a nomination process, or do we all vote for individuals and whoever has the most votes hangs?

Just like the poll right now, at some point later (day 1) that poll will be all our names, and you vote for who you think is bad. One person, one vote. Generally speaking, it's best not to vote right away (you certainly don't have to)... during the day, there will be discussion of who is bad and good and you can share your views and ultimately vote for the case you think is most compelling.

In most games it's most votes dies.

Today is day 0, which is to jump start discussion and there usually isn't a lynch until day 1. Instead of items up above there will be players names tomorrow.

No one is familiar with Harry Stephen Keeler. He's the most obscure guy ever. But if you are smart, you will seek out and read his books because they are worth it.
He clearly had a gift for creating amazing character names, if nothing else.

And as I'm apparently the last person to check in, I guess I'm getting berries. :shrug2:

As I'm reading back through... because the way you've phrased it makes me now think we are possibly seeing different things.

Mine is definitely more an idea, a category of people, than a single person. But your phrase makes it sound like a suspicion of a particular individual... and that I'm not getting.

Lies! You must be a baddie. Because I've read some of his series back in the day, or night. I can't really remember I was stoned out of my mind. Also, I'm not very smart. Damn it now I will have to go through my stuff to see which ones I've read and which ones I actually remember. :sigh:

I think I prefer Shep on the grounds that it's fewer letters to type :P Or we could go with the typical Lostpedia nicknaming conventions and call him SIWC. What say you, ShepInWolfsClothing, what should we call you? And welcome to mafia by the way!

I don't like acronyms that are too long, although I am an acronym myself lol. I would go with something different were I to rename myself today, but it is what it is.

I Am thinking I'll call him what he wants to be called if he states a preference. Until then, Shep it is since that is the first part of the name.

I am intrigued by BF & Golden. Positioning themselves as a Batman & Robin of sorts right out of the gate, sticking cred right onto each other. Then, as Epi pointed out, BF did the same in another game. That is still in progress, but Golden at least was civ there.

And don't get me started on socks, you guys :( I really was excited for this becasue I was excited about socks, the works of HSK, not so much. I was sad to see that sabotage-eed. I already have an alarming lack of dignity for my age :haha:
