I am not the first person to find a civilian suspicious on Day 1. That has happened in every game of mafia ever played.

Baddies (you) knowingly lynch civs. This also happens in every mafia game ever played. That's your motivation. The benefit is that you get a dead civ. I'm not sure what you expected when you asked me this, its pretty straightforward.

So is your suspicion completely arbitrary? I didn't even end up voting for Scotty. 4 other people did. Are they all scum too? You voted for me, ergo you wanted to lynch a civ and are also bad. This is a completely meaningless accusation. You've laid out a more elaborate case about how I came in trying to spin the lynch against either one of you or Scotty and this suspicion made no sense to me. This is what I was getting at with my questions. I want to make sense of it, or determine that it does not make sense.

It's just one of those things about having to vote 7 or 8 hours before the deadline. Sorry Scotty.
I don't think this is a case of WIFOM.
Quin wrote:Scotty wrote:
Quin, I think it was you who said it was suspicious if I change up my day 1 strategies from my norm. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. I don't like giving tone reads on day 1, because I'm generally bad at them, but I figured practice makes perfect. It in this case, practice makes me get lynched day 1. So...cumquats.
I did not! I merely pointed it out as an observation and even argued that it was
not suspicious
I think Day 1 is much too early for Scotty to be dishing out scum-reads because they haven't stepped up to the plate, so that's mildly suspicious. Also interesting to note that he's straying from his typical 'voting an inactive on Day 1' strategy, which I find less so, because meta is meta and not evidence.
Metalmarsh89 wrote:Scotty's response to Epignosis isn't very persuasive.
He does make a good point to Quin. I said I was changing my Day 1 tactic, and Quin had nothing to say about it. Scotty changes his Day 1 tactics, and gets suspected for it.
NOT! HAPPY! JAN!
Rico gets some townie points because I had the same thought process before I read this:

Scotty was the wagon I was most in favor of voting. I don't find leetic's post suspicious, and I didn't have time to read inh.
Epignosis wrote:JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Epignosis wrote:Well hell.

You know what else is less than ideal? A lynch ending in the middle of a lecture on Anne Bradstreet and its relation to Puritanical beliefs.
Any opinion on INH and leetic?
leetic has three posts, only one of which says anything. So I have no opinion on leetic himself. However, INH
expressed outrage at a leetic lynch but made
no effort between then and voting to get somebody else lynched. Look at the times of those two posts. That's a long time to be morally outraged and do nothing to find an alternative.
This is a well-crafted argument right here.

MOVE ON INDEED
After what he felt was a successful interview, Donald Trump headed back to his mobile headquarters. Before calling it a night, however, he had to check in on Barron's progress on Michael Glassner's interrogation. He approached an otherwise unassuming limo and knocked on the window. The door opened and he slid inside.
"How did Glassner handle the questioning?" Donald asked.
"Well enough," Barron replied. "He seemed to sweat over a few questions but that's to be expected under the circumstances."
"Indeed. So he's clean?"
"Far from it."
"Go on."
"We traced his old and new devices for internet activity. On both of his phones and his old laptop he accessed a series of forums under the username 'Scotty.'"
"I don't get it," Donald grumbled, "his middle name isn't Scott."
"Correct. Several of the forums he posted on were Star Trek fan forums. Mostly harmless really. A few roleplaying sites and a fan fiction forum. Apparently he likes the Star Trek character of Scotty quite a bit."
"Oh don't tell me he's one of those weirdos!"
"Not exactly, dad. You see, I hacked into those sites because his post history is extensive and goes back well before the start of your campaign. I then also hacked the servers those forums are hosted on to gather IP address information relating to his accounts. His access point history revealed a few geographic anomalies."
"The hell does that mean?" asked Donald.
"It means our Michael Glassner was logging on to these froums from locations that Michael Glassner should not have logged on from."
"Because he's a phony?"
"Exactly. I hacked the email addresses he registered on those forums with. He tried to cover his tracks but he failed to do it well enough. One of the email addresses belongs to Wes Boyd. He and his wife, Joan Blades co-founded the liberal activist website MoveOn.org and he was recruited for something called Operation Cobalt. I haven't cracked the encryption on those emails yet but I'm working on it."
"Call it a night, champ," Donald said. Proud of his son, he hugged him and kissed the top of his head. "It can wait for tomorrow. Besides, with this Wes Boyd in isolation, maybe we can get more information out of him and figure out where the real Michael Glassner is and when they switched places. Good work son."
-------------------------------------------------
Scotty was actually WES BOYD disguised as Michael Glassner. He was a member of the mafia and part of Operation Cobalt.

The content which exists between the original reveal and the new reveal might prove very illuminating. I've never seen this before (a mid-phase reveal change), and I suspect some/all of the baddies haven't either -- they may have known it was coming, but either way the behavior figures to be atypical of the standard reveal reactions. I'll look into it when I have an opportunity later.

Quin goes right back on the table, for one. Quin, were you actually doubting sloonei? For me, sloonei is townie number one and was even with scotty's town flip.
In fact, I'm feeling a bit 'mafia championship' about this, and I'm saying that at this point sloonei, Jay and epi are not in my PoE. Don't ask me what PoE stands for, I never figured that out. Rico probably isn't either.
I need to look back on that End of Day, but I see no reason based on recollection to rule inh or leetic out, despite scotty being bad. So, my PoE at the moment is:
Beck, Boomslang, Wilgy, inh, leetic, MM, MP, Quin, SVS, maybe rico (need to revisit).

Do we assume that the democrats knew that Scotty's role would be concealed and then revealed the way it was? I've never seen anything like this, but I assume it was no accident. The first person who comes to my mind when considering this is Quin. He was using Scotty's civ flip to push hard against me. That could have been genuine. We both tunneled each other to hell and back in Turf Wars, and we ended up being two townies. But that suspicion made no sense to me at the time and it still does not, even though he has retracted it.

I do not think the democrats knew that Scotty's town-flip would end up revealed (working theory) and that makes Quin look worse, to me, but Quin already looked worse anyway.

Thank you for the poll data. I will add screenshots of the Day 0 and Day 1 polls to a separate thread tomorrow morning. My wife is on our desktop for the evening, which is what I need to use to load the images.

No way that the Jay/rico thing was teammates. One of them tops.

Question, sloonei - should MM be in the PoE?
WELL his vote for Scotty now looks pretty good, but not good enough to dismiss him as a suspect especially considering his WIFOMy nature. Jay is a worthy suspect.
I'm basically confirmed civ.
My top 3 suspects are Ricochet, Jay, and Epignosis.
Scratch that, Epignosis is coming off the list. But Jay and Rico will stay.

My suspicion of them is independent of each other.
I also don't understand the either/or argument. If I suspect a player, and they turn out to be civilian, why should another player be bad, and why should this logic also work in reverse on the same two players?
I'm not trying to criticize you, I just want to understand what benefit there is to this.

Would you mind explaining why you've felt that Jay is town up to this point?

I was more just asking if the suspicions were independent, like you said. They seem like an unlikely pair of scum partners, I think we are in agreement there. No reason they can't both be good, of course.

Oh, and can you explain what a PoE does? I get if you can't tell what it means, but you've thrown a bunch of people on this list. Is it like a list of FoSs?

Scotty wrote:Honest question, Rico: I know you're not in the States, but do you find ourself gravitating towards any particular politician over here? What's your take on the political climate? Very curious.
Would Scotty ask a teammate something like this when he could ask in the semi-privacy of BTSC? I would say no. I've had lots of BTSC with Scotty compared to other people, and he's a talker. I realize people don't like factoring in OT green stuff, but if it's in the thread, I use it. This is a point in Ricochet's favor.
