I totally missed the fact that we have a Lie Detector role. I'm not sure I can really visualize how this mechanic/power plays out. Which role is this anyway? I might be very tired but I'm looking at the role list and I can't figure out who it would be.

1. I'll say what I want to people. That's how this works, right? Any rule against people's perceptions of being rude? Nah.
2. I only voted Mongoose to see what she'd say. Her reaction makes me think she's bad. I hope more people vote for her.

Once again I say~ Mongoose says that Epi must know she is a civ, yet voted for her anyhow.

Yet she cannot/will not make a definitive statement on whether or not she thinks he is a civvie.

If she has no info as to this, what she says will not be prejudicial.

It caused me to look at Summer, whom I made a post about. It seems though that this post from MR is actually the one that led us down this path (finally found it):
Mister Rearranger wrote:

Mister Rearranger wrote:Mongoose, I don't believe you ever answered my question on the previous page.

Why do you feel Epi voted for you?
Sorry, I totally missed that.

I am not sure, but they are motivated reasons. He can read me pretty good as civ when hardly anyone else did (Exhibit A: The Island over on RM), so I'm pretty sure he knows I'm not bad.
So you essentially say he knows you're not bad. Now, I don't want to put words in your mouth, so I'll ask: that should also suggest to you that he knows this because he's bad, correct?

Yet you're hardly confronting him head on about this and building a case or even placing your vote and confidence in that direction?
I think people are misinterpreting what Mongoose said here - that Epi's reasons for voting her were motivated - as some sort of weird sign that Epi knows her role 100% and is thus bad. I don't think that's what Mongoose was trying to say here. I think she meant that she knew Epi was doing what he did in order to gauge reactions. I agree with her on this point. I think people are taking her words the wrong way and using it to fuel a battle between the two of them. MR says he doesn't want to put words in Mongoose's mouth, but... that's kind of exactly what he did here. And now it's a thing.

Anyway, looking at the poll I think this does not look good for civs. No one has more than two votes?! I think I will vote for a self voter this round since I am not appealed by any of the people who have two votes at the moment...

Crap, I'm afraid I properly won't catch up in time.

Anyway, I was thinking Summer, Dom, or S~V~S before I left, honestly. Probably will go one of those ways because I don't want to touch Epig or Mongoose (also I don't get why Elo has two votes?). Summer seems really noncommittal to me in a fake sort of way, whereas Dom and S~V~S seemed to be manipulating the thread more than anyone else, honestly, but of course that comes down to my perception -- none of these things are that strong at all, but so far (on page 11), I haven't seen anything else that has struck me.

I do think TH made some good points about Summer and I might just go that way.

Is there anyone else around who hasn't voted??

Wouldn't want to throw a "leading question" at you or anything. ;)

And I know you didn't ask me, but my opinion: The split vote is because it's Day 1 in a 30 player game and nobody knows wtf to make of anything yet. Couple that with the possibility that there may not be any baddie teams who have been pressured into saving one of their own. I'm increasingly nervous that only one of the most-vote-getters is bad, or even worse, that none of them are.

Wow, I did catch up in time!

I guess I want to give Summer the BOTD; I know she is playing on a site with new players and a new mafia style, so I understand not feeling definitive any which way on anyone... especially since I feel nearly that way myself. I am definitely keeping an eye on her, but I'm not sure she's really being manipulative.

I can never see eye to eye with S~V~S, so I can't read her at all (although I like to think I can), and since she doesn't have a vote anyway, I guess I won't bother with her today. I don't understand her vote for Devin either, but I guess that's a difference in perspective.

I think I will go with Dom. I do think out of anyone, he did seem to latch onto Mongoose subtly and his posts have made me feel not good about him so far. It's not much, but... I can't think of anyone else with 1 or 2 votes I'd rather vote right now.

Alright, well, voting Dom then.

Will address a few other things in a moment here, then bedtime, because I am wiped.

I think the spread vote means people who planned on voting Epig or Mongoose or Devin, most significantly Mongoose, backed off because they feared garnering too much suspicion.

Either that or her team is saving her.

Considering my reads on everyone thus far, definitely leaning the first option.

Sorsha wrote:
I am leaning towards MP with my vote today. I finally caught up with the thread and really can't make heads or tails of the little things that players are picking each other apart for.

MovingPictures07 wrote:For the record, K4J, I agree with you regarding Sorsha's post; it seemed unnecessary to me, as if she's trying too hard. BUT I have heard of games where those types of statements were "checkable", so maybe it's possible. Seems rarer to me though and kind of pointless, but I suppose her post could be completely legit. I don't THINK I've ever played one where statements that blatant were checkable by a lie detector role though.

Consequently, I'm not sure her post really means anything at all. I don't think it really tells me anything, especially this early in the game. But, out of curiosity, do others agree here with my assessment and was anyone else wildly pinged by that statement?
After I read it the first time I thought he agreed with k4j which pinged me... it just doesn't seem very civvie-MP to me to jump on something like "Oh yeah, I thought that too".... but then to go on and just be so.... wishy washy about it. Once he was called on it he said he didn't think I was suspicious. I guess reading his post it could go either way. Its just weird to me.
As I clarified, just because I agreed it was of note or "odd" doesn't mean I found it suspicious.

It tells me nothing of your alignment, but I did think it was odd. There's a difference.

Hopefully that helps to clarify.

Day 1 - Person of Interest

The mob gathered in a clearing in the forest of Parts Unknown. The forest had played tricks on their mind, and everyone's suspicions were ramped up.

"MONGOOSE IS WEIRD!!!!" shouted some.

"EPIG IS MEAN!!!" insisted others.

"VOMP VOTED FOR HIMSELF!!!" pointed out some others, as Vomp ran himself into a nearby tree.

The suspicions were endless. Finally, A Person found himself cornered by slightly more people.

"Guys, you've got it all wrong! I'm innocent!" he pleaded, but they closed in around him. A Person had a rope around his neck, which they tied to a tree. It looked bad for AP.

Just then, there was a blinding flash of fire, and Kane slowly walked into the clearing (he's also from Parts Unknown). Silently he looked around, then calmly raised his arms. As they came down, the rope snapped, and AP fell to the ground unharmed. Kane then disappeared into the shadows once more.

Just then, Mean Gene came back from exploring ahead. "Guys, we've got to get to Los Angeles! Summerslam is tonight!"

He was right. Annoyed at the lack of death, the group headed back to the road and on to Summerslam.

Nobody has been lynched. It is now night. You have 24 hours to get your PMs in.

MP my suspicions of Summer were lessened after I found her responses to me to be logical and genuine. There were still some things about her posts that seem suspicious but nothing I felt comfortable voting on at the moment. She seems like an active and logical player so I don't want to get her lynched especially being so unsure about her. Devin struck me as less genuine than Sumz.
