I can't speak for everyone, but I do know that I (and at least some subset of the Syndicate group) favors a POE-driven approach on Day 1. Most of what I do is about generating as many comfortable town reads as I can, because if successful it will constrict the mafia into a difficult or even unwinnable posture right away. I wouldn't say I that my reads are predominantly meta-driven, though they're probably influenced by it on some level. To this point the Syndicate players have simply made most of the posts, so it's been easier for me to make judgments. That's no slight on the PerC gang -- we should shut up sometimes.

Act is uncertain at best and tends to find Gnome scummy regardless. So yeah, it's true, if she had a read on Gnome it would be shady. That said, I like her play so far. Did I miss her give a read on Gnome tho? Thought she was raising why it was shady that Dana didn't find Gnome shady as that tends to be the default of those who don't know better.

Long Con is a read I probably don't get right much more consistently than random stats say I should.

I was partially speaking as a host. So far this has felt predominantly like a Syndicate game. I want y’all to have a chance to put your stamp on things/take the game where you want it to go. But to answer your question:

Jay and I read each other better than anyone else reads either of us. I’m not gonna force a read on him here. I’ll know it when I know.

I have no clue how to read Mac or Nanook. I think I know how to read nutella most of the time. I have correctly read Made and LC in the past but I won’t call myself an expert on them. I’ve been town opposite mafia Alison exactly once (that I recall) and I caught her, but it took a lot of work and we were both on sockpuppet accounts.

That’s all the folks I have enough familiarity with to have a sense of how capable I am at reading them.

She's softer on the town scale than most outside that set. I've liked a couple isolated moments, e.g. this reflected my feelings in the same moment and making some effort to develop | her Act suspicion instead of flatly pushing it as I figure she'd be more inclined to do with an agenda.

Hi, I am a Gnome! I spend a lot of time in the garden so I don't go out on very many dates. I understand about feeling nervous and excited and about the need to have a healthy dose of paranoia because I too get pcoketed a lot by eager scum! They are so charming that I end up on and I am not even aware of all of the noisy howls It is very sad. I am looking for a sweet towny date and feel nervous and excited about finding romance, despite the presence of scummy scum scum!

I'm torn about this post more than I'd typically be for some early Day 1 thing.

Some part of me appreciates this pointed effort from Garden Gnome to reach across the site aisle to offer Dana encouragement, and the enthusiasm is nice. The language bears that sort of surface appearance that often gets people into trouble (e.g. scummy scum scum), sometimes rightly and often not.

Seeking opinions

You've probably already been answered but I'm here now, so; JaggedJimmyJay meet Garden Gnome. She not only encourages tunneling on her, she will pick up a shovel herself and assist your digging. Even if she posts something like "my welcome email said I was scum" it doesn't mean she is scum [true story, nearly]. Watch for her focus on solving, apparently. /not great at reading her

This comment serves no real purpose, but I just wanna say that "catching up" on this game was a breeze compared to what I expected when I saw 11 pages. Lots of short posts and easy-to-follow, direct conversation. So, I guess, if you find yourself on this page right now and think you can't get caught up on things, it's not nearly as bad as it might seem. And this is coming from the strongest advocate against catching up.

For sure... Long Con won't last very long though, because at least the Syndicate folks know me. I'm a slow starter. I don't generally get involved with all this POE/towncore creation on Day 1 that is all the rage. I just don't see it. I don't start suspecting people until... I do. I dunno.
