honestly, I knew something like that was going to happen. It's very common in the Middle East/Gulf to get rich countries paying or applying political pressure on weaker countries to lose in football. this is why Lebanon never make the WC. our players sell their souls to Qatar, Kuwait and KSA so often (and have been caught), and KSA has applied political pressure too (Lebanon's PM is KSA's puppet )

If any of the above is true it really sucks, but fortunately they are not likely to go through Spain/Portugal.

I still think Russia players employed doping though, based on the news I read this morning. It seems their physical performance was much better than everyone else's and that FIFA refuses to publicize the results of their doping exams.

If that is true then the results makse sense because doping should be enough for Russia to beat other weak teams like Egypt and Arabia, but not a team with more talented players like Uruguay.
