Civvies

MacGyver~ Cannot be lynched while Penny & Swiss Army Knife are alive *secret*

Swiss Army Knife~ Macs BFF~ sends messages to MacGyver periodically and goes into crisis mode should Penny find the bomb before she finds MacGyver *secret*

Duct Tape~ Does whatever Swiss Army knife cannot. Each day Swiss chooses the power Duct wields the next night~ if Swiss dies, the last power Duct has is permanent.

Ball of Twine ~ Holds things together when they are falling apart. Stops or switches a lynch once in the game

Chewing Gum~ stops air (and other gasses) from escaping when applied; so stops the nearly dead from being really dead, and rezzes one NKed player once in the game.

The Mullet~ MacGyvers tousled, highlighted Mullet looks perfect at all times. Attackers are blinded by its perfection~ Mullet lives through the first NK or Lynch, and can protect another player with its glory nightly

Paper Clip~ paper clips can be made into endless tools to stop whatever nefarious plot the baddies have in mind; blocks nightly

Magnifying Glass~ can see things others miss; can see who targeted a specific player that night

Chemistry Book~ Many things can be learned with SCIENCE The chemistry book gives a lecture in the thread each day. Do the facts come from the host, or the books author? No one knows~

Assorted Chemicals~ have assorted effects, unknown to the player. May stop night once in the game; however, there is a 25% chance the chemicals may have the opposite effect, multiplying night powers by two (all people who have night targets will have 2 the next night), or may stop the day once (with a 25% chance the votes will be turned on the people who cast them), OR may just PM "random" to the host one time in the game, and a random target will be hit with a random power (but there is a 75% chance the random target will not be a civvie) in addition to that nights regularly scheduled targeting.

There are no info roles in this game; there is a reason for that. Info dumps are discouraged, and roles hints can be dangerous. Don't do either.

Days are 24 hours, although Easter is coming, and the cycle will be extended over that weekend to accomodate those who will be celebrating with Family.
All Nights will end 23 hours after day ends, unless otherwise stated by me in the thread. Not 24; 23.

Our Story So Far~

Opening Post:
MacGyver was preparing to go out on yet another secret mission. His background as a lumberjack, hockey player, college professor, Special Ops veteran, nurses aide and chef made him particularly well suited for his next mission.

He was going undercover as a Social Director on a Cruise Ship.
Oh wait, wrong cheesy show.

But being out at sea meant he would not have access to his extensive collection of tools, and would only be able to pack a few essentials to take onboard with him. He chose his Swiss Army Knife (don't leave home without it), a roll of Duct Tape (ditto), a Ball of Twine (makes awesome fuses, and ties baddies up in a pinch), some Gum (utterly essential on board a ship; what if it springs a leak??), Assorted Chemicals (hey, this was the 80's, you could bring a valise full of chemicals onto a cruise ship, hell, you could bring them onto an airplane) a Chemistry Book (for some light reading) , a Paper Clip (only one), a Magnifying Glass (you would think a lighter or maybe matches would be easier for lighting fires and blowtorches, but what do you know, anyhow?) and several bottles of mousse, gel & hairspray. SEVERAL. Maybe all that product is why he eschews open sources of flame . But I digress.....

He had one last stop to make before reporting for his new "job": The Hardware Store

MacGyver needs one more tool. What should he bring?

I used to have a pocket fisherman. Caught a nice trout with it once.

Yay game! My first instinct is to go for the hook. A hook is always useful. I don't want to be hasty though, so I will think about it a bit first.

As for the poll - Gator Grip is a socket type tool that will shape itself to any socket/screw.

The Auger is a handy dandy digging tool.

Hercules Hooks are little devices to hang pictures/etc. I believe they are reusable.

Pocket fisherman is a mini fishing rod and reel.

I didn't realize what a Hercules Hook was. I was thinking something bigger. In that case, I will vote for the auger, because digging.

Being at sea the pocket fisherman would seem useful, but I doubt a MacGyver adventure will come down to him needing to catch fish to survive. I feel like he found himself trapped frequently, so here goes...Votes Gator Grip

I'm going to vote hooks because i like the idea of a hook on the end of the twine he's already got - handy for picking up things you can't reach.

Wow, such great choices! The auger seemed coolest to me on first glance, but we are on a boat and I love fish...it will come down to one of those two, anyway. Although if even more mousse were an option I'd do that

Seriously, I missed that, my fault. I read her story post but skimmed over the orange. Well, given it doesn't seem to matter, I'm tempted to vote for the Awesome Auger for similar reasons to INH. You can't argue when something has the word awesome in it.

This is true, digging would be handy. I don't think any of these would be particularly poor choices, but the fact that digging could indeed come in handy AND it has awesome in it pretty much cements my vote. I was going to sleep on it, but I looked at all of them again, and I don't think I'll be changing my mind.
