OH IT'S ON NOW!

Rules breakdown: I have 10 categories to choose from. I need everyone to select only 8 categories total for your song submissions. For now I'm limiting it to a 25 participant maximum, but depending on how this goes, I may be willing to expand that out to a few more people. I will not count you as a participant and add you to the tally until you have sent me your 8 song submissions.

I am okay with people submitting artists that count as stans for me, with the only artists I am excluding submissions from following:

Devin Townsend
Rush
Converge
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
The Smiths

Any songs submitted by those artists will receive a score of 0.

Scoring bonus breakdowns are as follows:

A song I have never heard before = +0.5 points
Score of 8.0 or above = +1.0 point
Score of 9.0 or above = +2.0 points
Base score of 10.0 = +3.0 points
Podium finish (top 3) in a category = +1.0 points

1. I Want the Bun I Can't Have (And It's Driving Me Mad): Submit a food-themed song, preferably a song about your favorite food, dish, or sweet treat.

2. Ultimate Pandering: Submit a song from an artist that you do not think I am familiar with, but that I might enjoy a lot. Preferably if it fits one of my stans (prog, metal, indie, post-rock/post-metal)

3. The Long Road Home: Submit a song that makes you nostalgic about the childhood town you are from. A 0.5 bonus point will be given if it is a song specifically about the town you grew up in (must be referenced by name in either the song title or the lyrics).

4. Chills Me to the Bone: Submit a song that literally gave you chills/goosebumps the first time you heard it.

5. Expansive Milestone: Submit a musical piece that is 10+ minutes in length. I may break this one down into 2 separate listening sessions if I get enough submissions in this category.

6. Classically Trained: In college, I really got into jazz and definitely consider myself a very big jazz fan. I've struggled more so with classical music just because I often feel overwhelmed by the breadth of options. Submit a classical piece for me you think I might enjoy. I tend to trend towards a lot of Stravinsky and modern classical (20th century and onward) of the more avant-garde variety if that helps, but it doesn't have to be in either of those veins.

7. Can You Hear Me Now?: Submit a song where crescendos and diminuendos are the main focus of the piece.

8. Hipster Cred: Submit a song from a more obscure artist you enjoy. For measurement guidelines, I want this to be an artist you enjoy that has less than 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Dig deep here.

9. Music Generations Never Die: I was born right at the end of 1989 (the 29th of December specifically). Even though I'm a 90s kid, I tend to identify more with the 80s kids I think because I'm one of the youngest of my cousins and those experiences shaped me as a child. Submit a song from either the 80s or 90s for this category.

10. Freebie: Submit whatever song or piece you would like for this category. Anything goes and everything will!

I am going to give everyone until 11:59PM EST on Sunday, the 17th of January to submit your song and category choices. Please submit via PM here on the site, and not the Syndicate Discord, so it's easier for me to keep track of everything. And no spoilers please with your submissions.
