Looks cool.
I've never seen the Thin Man series, but I believe my dad owns the entire box set. Do they hold up well today?
Anywho, I'd be happy to sign up whenever ya all begin.

Thanks! The boxed set is a must have. The first few are definitely solid and I feel hold up well. The first one in particular has some very funny bits and these characters will forever be endeared to you. And good mysteries to boot.

The first three or so are great. After that they go downhill pretty dramatically.

Right on, I'll borrow that from my dad sometime then. At least watch the first three.
Just another reason I love Mafia'ing. Introduces me to all kinds of wonderful TV and movies that will eventually rot my brain.

As someone who watches old movies almost nightly, I can say I'm super-stoked about this!
I've seen everyone of these movies except for His Kind of Woman and they are timeless
As to the Thin Man series, the first few films are like a cute, innocent version of James Bond, although the main character is always drunk and drinking more which sort of feels weird these days. And Myrna Loy is just.... oh my, I'd have married her on the spot
My only concern with the game is there is so much chaos and random killing, I'm worried the civs may be underpowered? I haven't hosted many games though, so my opinion may not be very important on that lol...
And Sam Spade is my hero, lol... "when you're slapped, you'll take it and like it!" What a bad ass...

I don't think that the civs will be underpowered. They have a baddie checker, a role checker, and a truth checker, as well as a role blocker and some BTSC. Cody's kill is random, so it could just as easily be a baddie as a civvie. We actually toned down some of the civ powers to make it more balanced.

OMG!! I love Nick and Nora and you made Asta a role?? Ahhh!!
Pastor Harry Powell is seriously one of the creepiest baddies ever. Uhhh. (Shaking)
My only complaint is where is Peter Lorre? He needs a role!
You can't stop me from playing this one!

We agonized over including him! The Thin Man is actually my #1 fave film

The only Noir film we could have reasonably tapped for Lorre was the Maltese Falcon, which we already have one role from, and then I would have insisted on Sydney Greenstreet as well, because he is awesome. They would both have to have been baddies, and that would have tipped the scales too far against the civvies. A tough call, but I think the right one.

Yeah, that is a problem. There are so many great baddies! Peter lorre from M could have been an SK for a longer game. Really so many Peter Lorre roles could be independant/baddie. He tries to play both sides so often. Sigh, love him.
Great game idea and I cant wait!

M isn't film noir it's German expressionism. Duh!

M kind of straddles both genres, but doesn't quite fit either one. Outstanding movie, though!

I'll remind him!
RE: M - Fun fact: I prefer M to Metropolis, which I also love. Has anyone seen the Restored Metropolis? It really is worth your attention. I saw it at Tampa Theatre, and someone played the Wurlitzer (pipe organ) live in time with the movie. I'll never forget the experience as long as I live.

Metropolis is just... an experience. And the restored version is even better! To watch it with a Wurlitzer? Wow, I'm jelly.

Right?!?
We saw it at the historic Tampa Theatre. If you are ever this way, make sure you visit it! It will change your life.
Wow. That sounds awesome. Small town downside is our artsy theater just closed. The megaplex with stadium seating is driving everyone out of business. I do like stadium seating though.
Ok, fine llama. Then next do a German expressionism mafia and include Peter Lorre! Oo what other movies fall under that? Might have to look that up later.

Cabinet of Dr. Caligari immediately comes to mind. The Golem, Nosferatu, Student of Prague, etc.
