The Syndicate

This is a semi-closed game (see below) for 15 players. Just like the iconic band itself, this will be a pretty stripped-down affair for a G-Man game.

POWERS:
Per Heist rules, there will be no more than three, but how many will there be? That is the part of this game that is a secret. Even if there are powers in the game, they will be pretty simple. After all, the Ramones kept it simple!


GAMEPLAY:
1. Days are 48 hours long. I will do everything in my power to keep poll deadlines consistent.
2. Nights are 24 hours long. Getting night PMs in to the host in a timely fashion helps to keep things moving.
3. Only those players who have BTSC may communicate with each other outside of the game thread but ONLY in designated BTSC threads or chat rooms. For everyone else, no game-related discussion is permitted outside the game thread.
4. Votes in the poll are the only votes that count. It's helpful but not mandatory that you declare your vote in the thread in a way that stands out to the host.
5. All votes are changeable all the way up to the deadline.
6. A tied day poll will result in no death. Votes matter. There will be no coin flips to determine poll results.
7. Standard alignment wincons are in effect unless otherwise stated.
8. Dead is dead; you don't get to come back from that. Dead players will have their BTSC rights removed.
9. Roles and any powers will be revealed upon death.
10. All powers have been randomly assigned to a role. There is no correlation between a power and a specific role.
11. Additional gameplay elements will be added/revealed on an as-needed basis.
12. I will probably end phases between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. EST for this game. Any earlier is a challenge for me with getting the kids to bed.


RULES:
1) Be kind to everyone.
2) If you feel like another player is out of line or making/taking things personal/ly, contact one or both of our delightful game mods, ????.
3) No BTSC regarding the game outside of the game thread(s). Players are told in their rolecard if they have BTSC. If you don't have it, don't engage in it. Violating this rule will result in a modkill.
4) No editing or deleting posts.
5) Self-voting is prohibited.
6) Alignment-claiming is legal, but role-claiming and power-claiming are not. Claiming a specific role or power will result in a modkill.
7) You may not post your any part of your rolecard or any other host communication verbatim.
8) Off-topic posts should be in OT Green.
9) Dead players are to post in Dead Red.
10) Non-Players should post in Non-Player Blue.
11) This is the host's color. Do not post in this color.
12) Participation is polite to everyone involved. If I feel you may not be paying attention to the game, I will reach out to you. Replacements may be employed if necessary. If you sign up, please play. If you can't play, request replacement.
13) No modkills in this game for inactivity. If you abandon your slot, then your slot will remain empty, which hurts your team. If you cannot play, request a replacement.
14) Additional rules will be added/revealed on an as-needed basis.

this might be a stupid question but doesn't this anti-self-voting rule actually incentivize self-voting because it means you can't die or be executed

Yep, this. Self-voting is simply prohibited and self-votes will be treated like missing votes.

So… it’s been a month, but GoC is about to begin. How much longer do we hold these sign-ups open before this game falls into the “lack of sufficient interest” category?

i think it's fine to stay open! there's been a lull with signups cos of GOC, but i find in a week or so games will fill up again!

This sign-up thread was launched 45 days ago and has yet to fill up. Other sign-up threads have launched just a few weeks ago and are going strong. One of them even filled and is starting, while mine seems to have lost a prospective participant in the last 48 hours or so.

While I think it would be workable to lower my game’s player needs to just 13, perhaps it is more prudent to believe the tea leaves and get out of the way of other hosts. It seems this game isn’t desired by the community.

I apologize if I didn't make my last post clear enough. The game is cancelled. Thank you for those who attempted to hype it up and gather a few more sign-ups, but I don't need sympathy; I just need to make more appealing games. I'm getting out of the way so other hosts get their chance to shine.

I think I have one more game sitting in a queue somewhere, so I'm going to take a hard look at it and maybe retool it a bit to make it something the community actually desires when its time comes. I'll need to reevaluate the games I am designing at the moment too.

Sorry if anyone feels strung along by the last few days in limbo. That was not my intent.

Fwiw I think its more a tough time for a closed setup than it is an issue with this setup specifically. If you ran signups for this in a few weeks to a month it would probably fill much quicker.

I mean, considering how well your games are tailored to the community playing them is never a bad idea, im just saying idk how much the setup specifically is the issue vs it being unfortunate timing

Sorry G-Man, I agree with Nanook, I think it really is more of a product of the GoC happening than anything else.

It's also possible that people don't know who the Ramones are.

I'll go ahead and bump this thread out since it's looking like it's not happening.
