1 of 3 experimental games
This is the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was Employee 427. Employee 427's job was simple: he sat at his desk in room 427 and he pushed buttons on a keyboard. Orders came through a monitor on his desk, telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order. This is what Employee 427 did every day of every month of every year, and although others might have considered it soul rending, Stanley relished every moment that the orders came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job.
And Stanley was happy.

Looks interesting!
I wasn't sure what this was, but figured it was a game or a movie. It sounds like a really neat game; I assume it's worth trying out?

The Stanley Parable is a HL2 mod that came out a few years ago to universal critical acclaim. The guy who made the mod assembled a small team, and actually made a full fledged game with added content for Steam. It's only $15 dollars, and it's one of those games where it's better to know nothing going into it. Without spoiling anything, it focuses on choice, control, and narrative structures in video games and/or stories in general. All of this while utilizing Douglas Adams-esque hilarious writing.

It definitely sounds intriguing. I read that it was originally a mod and apparently the full fledged game just came out not long ago, right?
I might just have to make that purchase and check this out.

HOW IT WILL WORK:
The Stanley Parable is a game about choice. It's also a game about not having any choice. It is also a game about choosing whether to have choice or not.
Everyday the group will have to make a series of choices, the outcome of these choices could benefit Team Left, Team Right, certain people, or just throw the game into chaos.
If you are wondering what "1 of 3 experimental games" means, I'm planning on making a series of three highly experimental games that will increase in complexity and insanity. They all revolve around the players making choices that influence the narrative, and who those choices benefit. I'm also working on adding RPG elements into games.
Look for more info about the second experimental game in the coming weeks.

I'm not 100% if the next game really counts as mafia. It's more like Dungeons and Dragons. Each player will be assigned a role, each role has a history, an inventory, and stats on how well they are at certain things. Every round, (1 day = 1 round) the player can do two things: Interact with objects or people, and/or move to a different area. You communicate to other players by interacting with other characters. However, you don't know if the random person you are talking to is an actual player or not. You may be wondering, OK, what's the point of all this? Each player has an objective. Some are simple, some are hard. Some conflict with each other. It's also possible, in fact, for everyone to lose. So, there is an element of trying to find out who is trying to sabotage the group, while trying to further your own objective. If The Stanley Parable Mafia goes well, I'll progress to the next game. If TSP is a colossal failure, then I will not do this.

The sign up's for this game are coming possibly tomorrow, so I just wanted to briefly explain what The Stanley Parable Mafia's gameplay will be like.
The Stanley Parable Mafia is Mafia meets a Choose Your Own Adventure Novel, where each day you make a choice that impacts the storyline. The choices that you make everyday lead up to one of thirteen endings. Each of those endings have different effects for different players. Some are good for the mafia, some are good for the civvies. Almost all of them eliminate a player. The group as a whole will vote on which path to take, until they reach an ending, where a player will be eliminated. Then the cycle begins again. There is no "night" or "nightkills". You may be wondering what power the mafia has then. The Mafia has the most important power of all in this game, information. They know what choices lead to what endings, and which endings benefit them.
The civvies win when all the baddies are eliminated, the baddies win when all the civvies are eliminated.
Any questions, comments, or criticism is welcomed.

I grew up on Choose Your Own Adventure Books. This sounds quite cool.
