I've never run a Mafia game before, but I imagine that when I do, I'll put us right smack dab in Judea-diddley.

Merry Christmas, you filthy animals.

Eons ago on Lostpedia we had an apolcalypse game, that was loosely biblical (it had God and Satan). Also happens to be one of my favorite games, even though I lost:

http://forum.lostpedia.com/showthread.p ... highlight=

I've always thought a Bible themed game could be fun...

I'm going to start developing this, and refining it as I play more Mafia games. I'd like to have done two or three before launching it. Seems like a lot of "moving parts" involved in between days. But I'm keen on getting the story and roles started.

By the way, I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm calling dibs on the upcoming Masters of the Universe Mafia.

Of the 33, only 8 are evil.

You know the hardest part about finding the bad guys in the Bible?

They're the same people as the good guys.

I was going to point this out as well. It makes a great opportunity for a Recruitment Mafia style of game if you should so choose to go that route.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this one.

The Ten Commandments

I. Thou shalt not speak privately with thy neighbor without my permission; I am the Host.
“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” (Matthew 12:36)

II. Thou shalt not edit nor delete your posts.
“And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.” (2 Peter 2:3)

III. Thou shalt not publically identify your role nor the role of thy neighbor.
“Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.” (Proverbs 11:13)

IV. Thou shalt not post private messages the Host sends to thee.
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29)

V. Thou shalt not double target.
“Do not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people.” (Leviticus 19:18)

VI. Thou shalt not use thy Host’s color.
“For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God.” (Isaiah 14:13)

VII. Thou shalt speaketh in red if life hath gone out of thee.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.” (Ecclesiasties 9:10)

VIII. Thou shalt use off-topic green and non-player blue as appropriate.
“And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.” (1 Timothy 5:13)

IX. Thou shalt ask your Host or the Mod for any assistance you may require.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

X. Thou shalt not be an asshat.
“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.” (Ephesians 4:31)

His novels are a total mystery, but James Joyce's Dubliners is one of the greatest short story collections. Simony (along with paralysis and gnomon) is a major theme.

"Counterparts" is one of my favorite short stories ever.
