Civilians (13)

Shawn Spencer – Solves clues to Yin and Yang puzzles in an attempt to save their kill target from death. At any point, Shawn may reluctantly ask his father, Henry, for help. In exchange, Shawn must offer an item; if Henry accepts the item, then Shawn’s upcoming lynch vote is worth 2 and Henry’s is worth 0.

Burton "Gus" Guster – Every night he attempts to crack the safe. If he correctly cracks the safe, he keeps the items inside.

Carlton Lassiter – Conducts a polygraph test every night on a player of his choice. (Secrets)

Juliet O'Hara – May arrest or release one person every night. Only one player may be held in custody at a time. That player may not post, vote or use their ability, but can submit one message that will be included alongside the night post. In addition, any items they possess are confiscated and given to Buzz McNab.

Chief Karen Vick – As Police Chief, she can stop one lynch of her choice, unless she is the lynchee. If any player votes for a lynchee that flips civilian, that player is added to the Chief’s list. Once they vote for a lynchee that flips baddie, that player is removed from the list. Every night, she may select one player from her list, and that player is alignment checked by Madeleine.

Henry Spencer – Shawn’s father is a former policeman and detective. His vast experience gives him knowledge other people don’t possess; he knows what every item does. At any point, Shawn may reluctantly ask his father, Henry, for help. In exchange, Shawn must offer an item; if Henry accepts the item, then Shawn’s upcoming lynch vote is worth 2 and Henry’s is worth 0.

Madeleine Spencer – Conducts a psychological evaluation (alignment check) of a player if ordered to by the Chief.

Buzz McNab – He confiscates all items held by any arrested player.

Abigail Lytar – If she votes the same player in a lynch as Shawn, then her vote is worth 3. However, if she votes the same player as Juliet, then her vote is worth -1. During one night of her choice, she may ask the host what her vote was worth the previous day.

Woody the Coroner – Whenever a player dies, he picks their pockets, taking their item(s).

Marlowe Viccellio – She shares BTSC with whoever is currently in custody. If alignment checked, she appears as a baddie.

Mary Lightly – If Shawn saves any player from Yin and Yang, Mary is made aware who the intended target was. If he ever votes for Yin or Yang, then his vote is worth -1. During one night of his choice, he may ask the host what his vote was worth the previous day. If alignment checked, he appears as a baddie.

Frank O'Hara – If alignment checked, he appears as a baddie. (Secrets)

Cool crossover quasi-reference: The Yin and Yang roles from Mafia: A World Apart:

Yin – White twin, has BTSC with Yang. Looks good on odd nights, bad on even nights. Seeming alignment becomes permanent if Yang dies.

Yang – Black twin, has BTSC with Yin. Looks good on even nights, bad on odd nights. Seeming alignment becomes permanent if Yin dies.

If both Yin and Yang are alive, they may discover one player’s alignment each night. Yin and Yang do not join a team while both are alive. They can win by being the last players alive, but if one dies, the other’s alignment is stuck (if evil, the team they join will be decided by a coin toss). Yin and Yang can kill one another on any night they choose.

These roles worked out SO WELL in that game... Yin killed Yang one night, and told people he did it because Yang was going to kill him and turn evil, so Yin had to pre-empt it and kill Yang, becoming Civvie.

The truth was that Yin killed Yang on a night that Yin was evil, and he joined a baddie team and really threw everyone for a loop, becoming a trusted Civvie at the same time he joined the baddies. It was epic.
