Would you take a leap of faith and add this to the poll without knowing what it will be?

The Submission Period for the Third Poll starts now. It will end on June 9th, 3 weeks from today. The poll will go up the next day. As soon as one of the two last games finish, the winner of the poll will go into immediate signups.

We have some new players from different Mafia Cultures than ours~ we hope some of them will consider submitting a game to the poll. Some of their home forums do NOT post roles (closed set up); otherwise, all submission must have at minimum a role list and a basic mechanics outline to be submitted to the poll. They must be ready to play, within the three week timeframe, so that if you win, you will be ready to start immediate sign ups.

Sounds like this would be a really closed setup. :scared:

I'd even sign up!

I actually said in the Poll Announcement that if it was going to be a closed set up, roles would not be required.

Is it a closed set up? Or all secret stuff? If so, we would probably say yes, especially if you had a cohost who has hosted before to reel you in if it's too ambitious.

If I had to put any confidence in anyone running a [potentially crazy and ambitious] game solo, it'd be Ricochet.

He was, after all, head of the Eclectic Prog Team at one point. :sax:

Well, if it's serious hats on time, then no, it won't be closed setup and it won't be a fully random and athematic mystery game.

I'll unveil the basic details tomorrow or so, but by basic I mean to say I'd still find it preferable not to spoil everything about mechanics and such.

It is pretty crazy and ambitious and I'll be shit scared of running it, which is why I already pitched it to a co-host, who will either be that or just Mod of Duty, depending on when it will take place and how confident I'll be not to screw everything up. That person has told me to go ahead with it, btw.

Sounds awesome, give TH & I a bare bones set up by (you need not reveal all of your secrets~ just a basic outline) by next Tuesday and you are good to go :)

And a ModOnDuty would be fine, since it is not a closed set up. If you want to host sole, more power to you~ it's a lot of work :srsnod:

Here is a silly intro, until I actually manage to write the game post.

And so, with the Wall Street building burning in the background, the Central City pulverized to dust, the Syn-d'kaht region devastated by plague and war* and the silenzio stampa period cancelled, our players return once more from their intense game projections, looking to unwind for a few days, ahead of new challenges.

*these storylines do not reflect any real future outcomes in currently on-going games; except if they'll turn out to be true. The dialogue that follows does not reflect real alignment of these players in those games either.

MOVINGPICTURE07: Man, Death and Taxes was hands down the best speed game ever!
SPACEDAISY: You say that after every new game you play.
MOVINGPICTURES07: But this time it's true, it absolutely rocked! And I was so close to breaking TH's record.
TURNIP HEAD: Yeah, like 300 posts short.
MOVINGPICTURES07: So close!
TURNIP HEAD: It goes to show how much you need MM alive to banter with throughout the whole game, in order to achieve such a high post count.
METALMARSH89: It also requires me to be invincible, apparently. :sigh:
TURNIP HEAD: Wait, Spacedaisy! Why are you even here? I didn't notice you play any of these.
*brwwwwwaaaaaaaaa!*
...did you guys hear that?
SPACEDAISY: Yeah, well, who do you think is supposed to drive MP home after he gets wasted at the Four Winds Bar?
MOVINGPICTURES07: The day I got rezzed sealed the fate for the mafia, ha haa! And I was so wasted!
JAGGEDJIMMYJAY: I told you I always think it's time for a nap when MP gets to post. And then, I got to put to sleep permanently.
FINGERSPLINTS: Yeah, well, you were still acting way too excited for my taste, MP, no wonder the mobs decided to shut you up. Reminded me of that Vuvuzela dog...
MOVINGPICTURES07: That was the goal. :feb:
METALMARSH89: Acting like a dog or...?
RICOCHET: Omelette au fromage.
BARNABAS: Man, I could go for some omelette right now.
GOLDEN: How are the rest of us supposed to get home, anyway, this late at night? Darn these late deadlines.
BALAAM: Does anyone know where I parked my ass?
METALMARSH89: Y-your what?
MOVINGPICTURES07: Man, I can't wait to get home and see my lovely kids.
SPACEDAISY: Well, at least I remember parking my car right next to- wait, your what?!
MOVINGPICTURES07: Huh?
SPACEDAISY: What kids?
*brwwwwwaaaaaaaaa!*
TURNIP HEAD: Seriously, what is that?
MOVINGPICTURES07: Mallory, darling, don't be silly. Our children, Phillipa and James. We haven't seen them in years, but now that I won a game and we get to go bac-
SPACEDAISY: WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? WHAT KIDS? AND WHO IS MALLORY?
MOVINGPICTURES07: Wait, whoa. Wha... Oh.
EVERYONE: ...
MOVINGPICTURES07: Ooooh!
*brwwwwwaaaaaaaaa!*
TURNIP HEAD: Argh, it's getting louder!

At that moment, MP collapsed on the street and vanished. Everyone looked at each other in a panic.

METALMARSH89: What the hell? Is this Death Note all over again?
DHARMAHELPER: Aw hell no.
EPIGNOSIS: Aw hell yes. :feb:
RICOCHET (starts playing Non, je ne regrette rien on his smartphone): :tunes:
G-MAN: Wait a sec...
EPIGNOSIS: I wonder if Simon has anything to do with this.

G-Man pulled his tablet, opened the forum and began to write a post on it. At the same time, buildings started blowing up in front of everyone in slow motion and the entire boulevard, from a couple of blocks in front of them onwards, started rising and twisting till it hovered completely above them.

A PERSON: Oooooohhhhhh myyyyyy goooooooood!
VOMPATTI: I was totally expecting this, if you know what I mean. :mafia:
G-MAN: This isn't good...
RICOCHET: Most interesting development, indeed.

They all looked back at him and shrieked at the sight of his face having turned into a giant cheese omelette. The second after, Ricochet also vanished before their very eyes.
*brwwwwwaaaaaaaaa!*
G-MAN: I can write.
METALMARSH: Cool story, dude.
G-MAN: No, I mean I can write in words. I'm not supposed to do that in reality. I can normally only post using pictures. But this... this can only mean... we're still in-
*brwwwwwaaaaaaaaa!*
TURNIP HEAD: In what??

Here's my impression of INH:

In my new game, no one who signs up will actually be a player. Instead, they will be shadow players manipulating the actions of a second set of players, whose identities will remain secret, from behind the scenes. There will be no lynch polls, but if a player (or shadow player) utters the secret word, they will be moved into a holding cell where they will have to solve puzzles until the current Twilight Period can be expressed as a product of two primes. The winners are the team that manages to accumulate the most star rubies before Gotterdammerung (a secret event that will occur suddenly and without warning).

This probably would probably work out better than the Innocence Factor that I tried to implement in Secret Mafia 2.

"So do you want to take a leap of faith, or become an old player, filled with regret, waiting to die alone?
Image
Host: Not INH
Co-Host/MoD: Sockface
This game will experimentally incorporate aspects of full, speed and maybe even micro mafia (in terms of the span of the day/night cycle), as well as regular, map and possibly sock mafia, too (in terms of role play).

Players signing up will be advised to be open-minded and prepared for varying gameplay timespans and intricate dynamics. The number of players required will probably hit our usual top ceiling of 34-35, maybe a few more. FYI, my co-host and I considered slotting this as a Special Game, but it would require the intense focus and involvement of a regular game, so it probably wouldn't work very well running in addition to the usual 2+1 games. Deaths will also have either a regular or an intriguing connotation.

This game will mix up canon content of the movie with regular mafia gameplay. Normal mafia gameplay will not be altered in its essence, but its regular objectives (eliminating the mafia team / eliminating or overwhelming the civilians) will be secondary to other (let's call them primary) objectives, based on canon, and very likely will not be enough to fulfill the win condition of any particular faction.

Civilians (9)
Primary: Achieve inception. Also, *secrets* [until the game begins, don't worry]
Secondary: Eliminate the bodyguards.

Dominick "Dom" Cobb - The Extractor - His vote against any teammate counts as 0. Tracks* the Mark every Day and Night. No other role is revealed to him. If he finds the Mark, *secrets*.

Ariadne - The Architect - Cobb's guidance through the operation as well as through the labyrinth of his own subconscious. If she ever votes for Cobb, her vote will count as 0. Designs the architecture (map) of the dream level and decides where each player is positioned at first. *Secrets*

Arthur - The Point Man - Can modify, at the beginning of the game, the established architecture by placing several traps.

Eames - The Forger - Tracks* the Mark every Night by impersonating a person close to it. No other role is revealed to him.

Yusuf - The Chemist - *Secrets* [some of them for the time being]

Saito - The Tourist - If Saito is lynched or night killed, he will be seriously wounded instead and will die within 3 Days. *Secrets*

Nash - Former architect in Cobb's team who betrayed them after a failed extraction, but now wants to redeem himself. Needs to survive the game or *secrets*

Stephen Miles - Cobb's mentor and father-in-law and Ariadne's professor, aiding the team to realize their objectives. Vanilla civ, can win with the team if the win condition is achieved.

Tadashi - Former help during an extraction job that the team hires again to aid them with the operation. Vanilla civ, can win with the team if the win condition is achieved.

*Tracking successfully will count as both role searching and the tracker and the mark ending on the same spot on the dream level map. As far as the latter is concerned, all other cases of players sharing a map spot will probably result in a temporary session of anonymous BTSC. (idk I'll need a tutorial in map dynamics before fully deciding)

Fischer Morrow (3)
Browning & Maurice Fischer share the bodyguards' (mafia) win condition. Robert Fischer's win condition will be later determined by certain events

Robert Fischer - The Mark - Heir of the Fischer Morrow empire. Trained in anti-extraction techniques. Role block. *Secrets*

Peter Browning - Robert's godfather and legal counsel of Robert's father.

Maurice Fischer - Robert Fischer's father.

Dream bodyguards (3)
Have BTSC
Primary: Prevent the civilians from achieving inception.
Secondary: Eliminate the civilians.

Kill nightly. They cannot target Robert Fischer (attempt fails).

Mallory "Mal" Cobb
*Secret*

The Shade - Dom's deceased wife and haunting projection of his subconscious and guilt. Cannot be night killed. Lynching her might not drive her away for good, either. Will constantly try to convince Cobb to reunite with her in "the real world", otherwise might attempt to sabotage his and his team's operation. *Secrets*

Well, this seems two or three games away, which is terrifying (then again, that probably means three or four months from now, at the current TS rate), because I haven't worked on polishing it in a long time, so I'd say the game is in disaster mode right now. Besides, I feel I should host this when I have full time to control everyon- thing! Everything! I initially thought summer would be good, but current RL seems to disagree. Idk, maybe if it'll be in October.

That's the beautiful thing about our queues here: Flexibility. If the time comes around and you find yourself too busy hiding real life bodies, you aren't obligated to host, and you can drop back one or two places, and I can host again there's always something there for people to play. :)
