The Syndicate

Players - There 16 players in this speed game. 12 players are civilians and 4 players are Mafia. Mafia has BTSC and kill each night.
- Civilians win if alive at the end of the game.
- Mafia when with their team, dead or alive.

Day Polls - Players will vote for one player to be "put down". Ties will be determined by drawing a name from a hat, and we all know we have plenty of hats.

Night Action - Civilians vote for a player via PM (you may not vote yourself). The winning player gets to PM the host a yes or no question about a Mafia member. Once you've asked a question about the Mafia, anonymous votes for you will no longer count.
- Acceptable question example: Does a member of the Mafia have red hair?
- Unacceptable question example: Is so-and-so a Mafia member?

Rules -
1. No BTSC (Behind the Scenes Contact/Conversation) with anyone other than your specified BTSC partners. BTSC takes place in a specific assigned chatzy. If I say your BTSC is interrupted or over, don't access it until I inform you otherwise.
2. No editing or deleting of posts.
3. No role outing of yourself or anyone else.
4. As you, the civilian, receive information about a player's avatar........ You may not use a player's avatar to discuss whether the player is civilian or mafia. Doing so will result in a mod-kill. If you are unsure about something you want to say, please PM the host before posting.
5. Be respectful and remember that this is a game.
6. Dead players should not post on-topic and should be in dead red. There is a "dead" button when posting for this function.
7. Off-topic posts should be in off-topic green. There is an "OT" button when posting for this function.
8. Posts from non-players should be in non-player blue. There is a "np" button when posting for this function.
9. This is your host's color. All host posts will be in this color. Don't use it!
10. S~V~S is the Mod on Duty. Please PM her with any concerns or frustrations you experience.

11. No posting the contents of PMs- period.
12. Votes are NOT changeable.
13. Don't forget to laugh!

Participation Score - Missing more than two lynch votes in the entire game will affect your participation score.




The room was dim. The walls were were a pale burgundy color and the air was filled with the stench of tobacco and bourbon. The guests were ill at ease as they were still getting to know one another. They knew there were some among them who could kill and the tension was a little too much for some to bear. The fear was so intense for one guest, in fact, that he had yet to show up altogether. "Sixteen!", said thellama73, "There are supposed to be sixteen of us, right? How can we begin our adventure if we are Missing a Person?"

Is one of the Mafia from Wellington?

Is this picture uploaded somewhere else? Itis too big to view on my iPad. Mobile devices often cut some ofthe pictures off in viewing, so it might be helpful to more than me.

There is no such thing as right click on the iPad. I'll get Alex to copy the picture and upload it to photobucket. I'll link it here for everyone once he does. If that's ok...

Roxy has right away hit upon an interesting point which is not set out in the rules (that I can see). Must the question be about the avatar, or could it be about the other accompanying bio information.

I played it that way once, and it didn't go well for me, either. But it was a hell of a lot more fun!

Not sure I get the "Civillians will be receiving specific information about players concerning their avatar." part from the rules. As in when a nominated player will ask a question during Nights or will there be more than that?

I have a date tonight, which is my idea of independence these days, but I should be able to make it back in time not to miss voting.

Except if maybe the evening goes really well.

Just like Llama, I too am going to disappear for Take That You Dirty Redcoats Independence Day. Llama may get my vote because I feel like he is insinuating that I don't care. I told you guys during signups that I'd be going off the grid until Saturday but I failed to mention that I do care about the game. Llama is just sucking up. :P

Just to be contrary I will be voting for whoever votes for Missing Persons bc they have not done an avatar.

I have not played with Missing yet so I am taking my newbie stance

I am just reiterating that as you get the info that you already know you will get, do not use that info to build a case on someone else. For example, "I think we ought to lynch so-and-so b/c she has green eye shadow" or "I really think one of the Mafia is wearing a hat." Be more creative. If you find out that a member of the mafia is wearing feathers in her hair, then look through her gameplay and build a real case. Plus, if you do say something like the examples above, you will be modkilled.

From my experience hiding the fact you are a nerd only leads to suffering.

Can anyone really hide the fact that they are a nerd? Thankfully my wife was friends with my sister before we started dating, so she knew full well how big a nerd I was. Even had she not been my sister's friend, I think she would have guessed it pretty quickly. I have an aura about me that screams nerd. It's probably the glasses.

It's a good idea because a person without an avatar will be immune from detection by the methods the hostess has given us. And that's terrible.

Also, Missing Person is not a newbie. She played Omerta Mafia. So Roxy's "protecting newbies" stance is mistaken at best, and intentionally misleading at worst.

I don't see much point. She is essentially not playing the game. If it stays like that, she is probably just getting replaced for being inactive, or modkilled. Sounds like a waste of a lynch.

She's not going to get modkilled, because Eloh doesn't do those things. She might get replaced, but that doesn't make her more likely to be good. It's only a waste of a lynch if she is not mafia. Right now, we can't find out whether she is mafia or not, because she has robbed us of our only way of doing so by not having an avatar. Seems like the best option to me.
