Civilians (9)
Win Con: The Inmates and Moloch the Mystic are Dead. Be alive.

Bernard the News Vendor
He posts his unsolicited opinions in the thread via the Host.

Joey the Cab Driver
She purchases a Hustler magazine from Bernard each Night; during this time, she tells Bernard the name of a person she isn’t.

Derf
This Knot-Head intimidates someone each Night, silencing that person and making him unable to vote the next Day.

Hollis Mason
The first Nite Owl can use one of his successor’s utilities one time only.

Sally Jupiter
The first Silk Spectre will snoop around her daughter’s personal life; if her target has had BTSC with Laurie, Sally will learn the role of the target.

Dr. Malcolm Long
Walter’s psychoanalyst, in attempting to convince Rorschach that there are good people in the world, can each Night remove someone’s name from the list of people Rorschach needs dead to win.

Janey Slater
Dr. Manhattan’s ex will search each Night for Dr. Manhattan. If she finds him, she learns his identity and his secrets.

Detective Steven Fine
Tracks on Odd Nights. Bourquin gets the result too.

Detective Joe Bourquin
Tracks on Even Nights. Fine gets the result too.

Watchmen (6)
Unlike the Civilians, Watchmen have superior abilities, but have an additional win condition. Also, unlike the Civilians, Watchmen do not need to be alive at the end to win.

Image

Walter Kovacs / Rorschach
"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout, 'Save us!" And I'll look down and whisper, 'No.'"

Whenever a civilian or Watchman is lynched, Rorschach will investigate, and track one of the guilty voters on odd Nights. On even Nights, he may choose to kill or spare the person he tracked.

Win Con: Rorschach does not compromise with evil. Anyone who participates in a civilian or Watchman lynch must be dead for Rorschach to win.

Image

Danny Dreiberg / Nite Owl II
“What happened to us? What happened to the American Dream?”

Nite Owl has an impressive array of technological wonders at his disposal. He can:
  • Apply his advanced polygraph to lie detect one statement.
Use his sonic amplifier to deliver an anonymous message to the thread through the Host.
Reinforce his owl suit to protect himself.
Activate a projectile shield to protect someone else.
Airlift from the immediate area, taking all but four people off the poll.
Scan the perimeter and make an alignment check.
These may only be used once.

Win Con: Nite Owl needs Hollis Mason alive to win. If Hollis Mason is dead, then he needs Derf dead.

Image

Laurie Juspeczyk / Silk Spectre II
“I used to be a masked avenger too, remember... I mean, I’m used to going out at three in the morning and doing something stupid.”

The Silk Spectre will gain temporary BTSC with her target. Her target must claim a role. She cannot gain BTSC with Rorschach, whom she despises. She starts off knowing who her mother Sally is.

Win Con: The Silk Spectre must correctly identify Nite Owl II, Dr. Manhattan, and The Comedian before the end. She can begin with a cold guess, and may update her list at any time until either she is dead or endgame.

Image

Edward Blake / The Comedian
“Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the Comedian is the only thing that makes sense.”

Has one Night kill.

Win Con: Get Night Killed.

Image

Jon Osterman / Dr. Manhattan
“Everything is preordained. Even my responses.”

*Secrets*

Win Con: Presence

Image

Adrian Veidt / Ozymandias
“Do it? Dan, I’m not a Republic Serial villain. Do you seriously think I’d explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago.”

Using his vast wealth and intellect, Veidt can manipulate many things. *Secrets*

Win Con: ???

The Inmates (3)
Has BTSC
Kills each Night.

Win Con: Must eliminate the Civilians, the Watchmen, and Moloch the Mystic.

Big Figure
Intimidates someone, buying that person's silence and preventing him or her from voting the next Day. Inherits the kill from Larry or Mike if either of them are dead.

Lawrence
Blocks on Odd Nights. Kills on Even Nights.

Michael
Blocks on Even Nights. Kills on Odd Nights.

Moloch (1)
???
Win Con: Last man standing...maybe.

Edgar Jacobi / Moloch the Mystic

I may or may not sign up, but if I don't sign up, the least I can do is Watch.

Then that question will have an answer.

I happened to browse the profiles of the Watchmen on wiki last evening, for no good reason I can recall.

It must be a sign that I have to play. :noble:

That, and the fact that I'm dying of mafia dehydration.

Oh cool, win-grab roles. My favourite.

:dark:

Ricochet needs a baddie role if he wants any sort of chance.

It can be the Mother Teresa of roles, as long as it says "Does not need to be alive to win". :workit:

Players with any P-score are welcome to sign up. :)

If you sign up, however, you will be expected to vote and use Night actions, if applicable (you may pass on using a Night action, but I need a PM saying so, or it will count as a missed Night action).

Anyone who misses any combination of votes or Night actions three times will have his or her P-score affected appropriately.

Ahhhhh!

This HAD to be the game that went into Speed Game sign-ups right now, didn't it? This is the only one of three Speed Games in the list (the other two being Daisy's Psych Mafia and G-Man's 1, 2, 3 Numbers Lover Game) most apt to tempt me out of my "no mafia until after the honeymoon" break.

Okay, so as I said in Frisky Dingo, my schedule has really been kicking my ass, but I might actually have some time to play mafia for a week or two max in late July after some major deadlines come and pass. My window is restricted to roughly July 21st to August 1st or so, sadly, and that's only assuming I manage to completely knock out my replication by the deadline (July 20th). If I knock it out before then, then I might be able to start sooner. If I don't knock it out by then, well, I need to get it done before I leave, so I won't be able to play.

Also, the game almost has to be 24/24, since 48/24 will probably be too long of a game for me, unless I die early or the game falls right in my mafia window (even then, still would have to die somewhat early). So... is it 24/24 or 48/24?

That first week of August is pretty much the cutoff, regardless of how much I knock out my PhD workload, since I'm leaving San Antonio on the 5th and getting married on the 8th (for those of you who don't know by now, it's to the lovely Spacedaisy, and I'm a very lucky man). :)

So, for now, I'm "Maybe", only because this game looks freaking amazing and it's tempting me real bad.

You can always just ignore most of the thread, read the last 5-10 posts, and blame one of those posters for your uninformed vote. Either that or just commit to drive-by voting for a full game?

Not my style. :slick:

I feel absolutely terrible enough as is when I miss one vote or can't analyze all of the thread. I'd be seriously bummed to miss the game, but I'd rather miss it than sign up and not play, since I can't stand the idea of flaking on a game.

If I do even play, I will very likely play a relatively more light-hearted, less posty game. There's no way I can play up to my most posty (Economics) and probably not even my normal posting level (Roger Rabbit) either.

Join us, MP, to speed up the process. If I'll be the Comedian, I'll help with out with a quick exit if you can't play anymore. :slick: :feb:

It's very tempting.

Let me see how the coming week goes and I should be able to make a decision one way or the other.

Mmmm, as appealing as possibly getting dog-peed in the face by you again may be, I think I'm going to sit this one out. I've already signed up for Frisky Dingo and I'm going to try to stick to a 1-game-at-a-time limit.

I usually find complex games overwhelming and too fussy (translation: I'm neither clever enough nor attentive enough for hard and layered games) but in this case the individual win cons look incredibly cool to me, and I read Watchmen a few years ago and found it super compelling, so I'm very tempted by this. I am being super strict with myself about my "one-game-at-a-time" rule, and I'm beginning a cross-country drive on Saturday, so I reeeeallly shouldn't sign up.....

But if I die in BOB or it ends before this starts, I will definitely play. :)
