Loosely based on the John Carpenter's The Thing, the purpose of this game is to create a sense of paranoia within both the good guys and the bad guys. An deadly alien creature crash-lands in the barren wastelands of Antarctica, only to be discovered by a team of American scientists. When a massive storm disrupts communication with the outside world, the scientists find themselves completely isolated. Unknown to the scientists (for now), the creature infected one of them and it will infect others. If the infected members of Outpost 31 are not stopped, they will be able to spread this alien infection across the globe.

ROLES:
There will be up to 19 players possible. The number of infected players will depend on how many people sign up for the game but that number will not be made known. Scientists will need to be on their best game in order to flush out the baddies, who will not have BTSC. Can the infected players find a way to discern each others' identities and coordinate their kills in order to win? Can the scientists band together and spot infected players on tone and gut alone, with little to no teamwork behavior present?

SCIENTISTS:
No special powers and no BTSC. They win or lose based on their ability to analyze the words and actions of their peers.

THE INFECTED:
The number of infected players will be chosen at the start of the game and players will be randomly selected for these spots. One of these players will actually be infected at the start of the game. The others will be told that they will eventually become infected but they will not be told when. The initial infected player will have the Night 1 kill if they are not lynched on Day 1. After the Night 1 night post, one of the other prospective infected players will be activated and granted the Night 2 kill. In this way, the infected players will rotate through killing.

LYNCHES:
If a prospective infected player is lynched before they are activated, they will flip scientist when lynched. (For example: if, on Day 1, the scientists lynch the prospective infected player will will be activated after Night 2 and kill on Night 3, that player will appear as a lynched scientist because the infection hasn't taken hold yet). When players lynch an infected player who has already committed their first kill or is scheduled to kill during the next night phase, that player will flip Infected. If/when an infected player is lynched, they are removed from the kill rotation.

NIGHTKILLS:
If an infected player tries to kill a player who is also infected or will become infected, the kill does not go through and those two players will learn each other's identities but they will not gain BTSC.

WIN CONDITIONS:
The scientists will win if all the infected players are lynched. The infected players will win when they kill all the scientists or outnumber them.

I just watched the remake of The Thing and it was quite terrifying being set up in the dark antarctic. This sounds pretty cool! (nyuck)
