Wait hunny, weren't you the one who was raped by David while cleaning your cooch on the roof or something? If you need to talk, I'm here dear.

Agreed. I'm not surprised at this behavior when people can hide behind socks. If people choose to answer the questions, then so be it

The only thing I see this being useful for is determining who all of the newer players are. Especially since we have new players coming in from the Game of Champions stuff.

For the moment I shall ignore the question, and move on. Though I do wonder what the benefits are to knowing who is new here. It seems like most of the newer people arent coming in with no mafia experience so it isnt likely you would be able to catch a rookie slipping with that information.

Thank goodness Day 1 didn't start yet. It would have been unfortunate for a social person such as myself to be late to the start of the game. Not that starting on the weekend is any better for me. Having re-read the thread, here are some observations...

Nicodemus wrote:Random voting sucks. You're much more likely statistically to find a baddie Day 1 by actually making an effort than you are by randomly voting, particularly en masse.
This man speaks truth. Random typically favors the ne'er-do-wells because it allows them to spread out but it often happens that Day 1 suspicions are more often than not stretches unless an honest to goodness slip-up occurs. Since this is a sock game, it will be nigh impossible to pick up on other player's tells until/if we figure out who they are.

Absalom wrote:well this is already getting interesting and it's not even day 1 yet. And people say there is no evidence this early. Pfft.
Care to share or are you waiting for Day 1 to start?

Ruth wrote:This is a test:

There are two sets of baddies in the game (unless you think The Four Horsemen are civ?). I find it interesting that instead of saying "only the baddies know" you said "the Heathens". Is that because you are a Horseman and thus you without realizing it subtracted your group from your comment? Or maybe you are both Heathens and only said the one baddie group for that reason?

I don't disapprove of meta in sock games, but I hardly expect great results from it either. It is indeed far-fetched to think that players can fully and precisely out themselves in such circumstances or that, instead, a full and precise profiling of a player can be achieved - and I myself am not pursuing any of this. However, if meta crumbs or trails surface, I will make note of them. That being said, I also think Ruth is pushing it a bit.

First Mafioso
Chapter I
1In the last year of the reign of King Mooby, everyone did what was right in his own sight. 2The city of Mafioso, in the region of Sin-d’kaht, was filled with evil, for many wicked people sought refuge there, hiding their countenances, as was the custom in that place. 3Their transgressions were an affront to the Lord. Among their sins was covetousness, idol worship, murder, fornication, and grave infodumping. 4When the Lord’s anger waxed mightily against them, He sent His servant to warn them that judgment was at hand. 5“This is what the Lord says,” the servant declared. “Purge the wickedness from among you, and then you shall know peace. Your fields shall be fruitful, your vineyards will yield the choicest wine, and the nations will tremble before you. 6But if you do not do this day what I have commanded you, you will not know peace. Your fields will spoil. Your vineyards will yield the bird of thunder. And the nations roundabout you will look at you and call you rekt among the earth.”

I did read his posts; no need to condescend. I even replied to one of his posts. Perhaps you missed it while you were busy inflating your post count.

I took Samuel's post as I did everyone else's so far- at face value. You do realize that his threat about bears is a biblical reference?

I fear you wasted your vote by casting it so early.

I'm glad it's day 1. Now we can get moving. Despite Paul's early vote, I actually feel good about him. I also feel good about Nicodemus. That leaves.... a lot of other people. I don't know, maybe it's just his name, but Cain dropping in with only two posts, one of which was an accusation and a vote threat is something I noticed. That, and Balaam seems to be coming off a tad hostile.

I could see Paul getting a lot of votes... I'd consider voting that way. So far not much has stood out for me. Paul has, very much, with posts and practices which seem designed to set himself apart. So has Ruth - what with the apparent fishing for finding out where people are from and then waving it off as a joke.

Out of curiosity, I wonder if anyone felt that their vote in the poll yesterday turned out to be worthwhile. I, for one, do not - at least I have no reason to believe it was for now.

I'm not sure what you mean by a wasted vote on day 1. Many people randomize or self vote on day 1. Paul at least has an actual suspicion. How is his vote any more wasted than everyone else's?

I agree with this. I don't think you should vote for someone just because you notice them. Isn't the whole point of being scum trying not to be noticed?

My vote had no effect as far as I can tell.

I'm just getting a vibe from Paul I don't like... It's not only because he sets himself apart, it's the way he is doing it... like, my practices are so different from yours, how could you possibly lynch me until you've gotten to know me... I don't easily buy that he has an actual suspicion of Samuel... the vote feels like a tactic.

I agree with Balaam. A very early vote is a wasted vote, because 48 hours is a lot of time for something real to happen.

I agree with Balaam. A very early vote is a wasted vote, because 48 hours is a lot of time for something real to happen.
While the vote feels like a tactic to me too, it can easily be a valid tactic. Samuels' post seemed scummy to me too, especially the ridiculous question in the end, but the first part felt like him trying to convey: "I'm cool, I have nothing to hide". One way to try to push Samuel is by voting him and doing it fast. Nothing like pushing someone to the corner to get him talking. Worst case, Samuel comes in, eases his mind and he wasted a vote which has a high probability of being wasted anyway.

We'll see.

I'm in a bit of middle ground on this. Samuel's "I'll call some bears on you" (Elisha reference) was very odd. But not enough for me to call him guaranteed scum yet like Paul has.

On that note, Pauls willingness to do that right out of the gate rubs me the wrong way as well. A lot of jumping the gun going on here. That method of pressuring him with a vote is pointless at the moment, seeing as it's the only vote on Samuel for the time being. One vote does nothing in a game this size unless there is a tie, and I question that technique being employed at the very beginning of day one.
