Steep the tea first. Then add the cocoa. It works.

If you used double the tea in the same amount of water it would make the taste stronger after you add cocoa.

^ i always just use one bag or half fill a round metal tea cage (about a teaspoon) <- no idea for amount in Finalnd.
I got some plain chamomile today cause an herbalist friend told me chamomile tea ice cubes are great for teething babies. Turns out teas have gotten a bit fancy and there were onyl two just chamomiles. Everything else was honey chamomile, mint etc, etc.
Have you tried lemon chamomile yet mongoose? (Also did you see the ferret emoticon at RM? i think we need that one for you)

You want to make sure you put enough in the infuser that you get nice strong tea but not so much that it doesn't have any room to expand otherwise you won't get the full flavor anyway.
Re: Tea Drinkers of the World, Unite and Take Over!!
Bump!
So I tried a sample of Earl Grey Lady Blue from Demmers Teehaus today, which I think it's their equivalent of Twinings' Lady Grey, and it was fairly decent. Still doesn't beat the ol' Earl.
Also, my 2nd flush Darjeeling tastes the same as the autumn flush.
On the other hand, the milky oolong from Demmer's is absolutely superb.

Omg I love the tea smiley. Adding this to the smiley request list!
Mostly my tea brewing is limited to chamomile right now. Then I freeze tea ice cubes for the teething babe. He adores his ice cubes.
I go crazy sometimes when out and about and get a chai, but I hate it when I order an ice chai if they pour it from a box and add ice. lame. Also, sometimes it's way too sweet. I had an amazing chai in Portland. Nice and spicy, with just the right amount of sweet, but not so strong that my teeth rotted and fell out on the spot. They have great tea shops out there.

Drinking homemade chai now, but forgot about it and overbrewed.

I just wanted to see what they tasted like together, but gunpowder doesn't make the best iced tea by itself. The longjing is amazing hot or cold, though.Mongoose wrote:\I wouldnt have thought gunpowder would be good iced. Another experiment: iced pu-erh. Not sure if it works well but it was interesting
Experiment part 2: adding a little whiskey. Tasted sort of like how I would imagine liquified rotting wood to taste. 7/10 would experiment with again.

Re: Tea Drinkers of the World, Unite and Take Over!!
Wasn't sure which thread to put this in, but it's been a while since I posted in the tea thread so this one it is.
Since my new hubby and I both have been wiped out with The Crud Part 2: Revenge of the Crud, I decided to take matters into my own hands today. Whilst grocery shopping, I picked up stuff for hot toddy's. (Also - it's football Sunday and I've been so sick I haven't had a drink in well over a week. This must end I say!)
So - I'm a super fan of this hot toddy recipe:
3/4 cup of tea (I used Earl Grey naturally)
1 Tblsp Honey
2 Shots Brandy (I liked the 2 shots, my sweetie made that weird Hunter S. Thompson "OMG! These Drugs!" Lizard face.
Sooo....for your non-drinkiey friends:
Make it 2 tbsp Honey
1 shot brandy
Hubby liked that much better.

I'm all for the Hot version of this recipe. I think it looses something in translation when it's made into sorbet.Mongoose wrote:I saw this today and thought of this thread. http://www.jenis.com/hot-toddy-sorbet-pint/

I mean - Ice cream for cold remedies?
No. I just can't even.
I will warm wiskey and lemon and water - or brandy and lemon and tea - any sick friend. It's an amazing thing.
but I really truely don't think it translates cold. It looses everything that a HOT toddy is supposed to be.
