Not just Colin, people in general.
Is this just one of those philosophical debates we have?

I am good at reading people generally. There’s a reason I have my supatown rep to begin with. It’s not because I’m loud.

But also, as a general rule, I don’t think it’s possible to claim people cannot be read. Glorfindel may be at one end of a spectrum, but few people are truly neutral.

No.

I wasn't denying you, it's just that you said "let's vote for people we can read" and my reaction to it was "eh... I think I'll pass"

Then I waited to see if anyone did.

This post also gives me bad vibes, seems overly worried with how others will view your votes.
Bingo.
Dragon D. Luffy wrote: Mon Aug 06, 2018 4:33 pm Epi is only voting for people who have zero votes and being silent about it.

Why?
This is a spin on "Epignosis is being quiet, and is therefore bad."

He doesn't say that, but that's the spirit of the post. DDL states a fact that should seem incriminating and waits for someone else to fill in the blanks.

It's subtle: He is talking about me rather than talking to me, and thus inviting discussion about me rather than engaging me directly.

Moreover, what am I supposed to address? That I'm not posting more about the fact that I clearly voted for the people who had zero votes?

DDL is mafia.

I agree it's a bad look for DDL. His votes are completely arbitrary, you can't expect a lot more from a Day 0 poll, but he still awkwardly emphasizes the completely normal ways in which nutella and Epi voted.

So I particularly noticed the nut thing too. But to add to that, I didn't particularly love the way he went about challenging my reasons for voting who I was voting. By not being clear and specific, it felt like he was undermining the idea of electing captains who were readable - it seems to me that reducing the value in objective criteria for voting and increasing the scope for 'I'm voting for people that I feel like voting for' increases the scope for mafia manipulation. I was aiming to create somewhat of a consensus about both approach to voting and people, but that hasn't happened. For instance, I don't love THs votes at all - maybe it's biased because he has essentially removed me from top 4, but they also feel manipulative to me - and it's possible to do.

Does it really make that big a difference who the captains are, though? Won't you still have to read them in the same way as any other player? If anything, and using your logic, if you want to be captain and you're voting for people you know you can read wouldn't you necessarily be placing them in opposite crews where you get less access to them? The voting strategy confuses me. @Golden

Why do I get less access to them? They are still in the thread where I can read everything they say, right? I might not get to pull the trigger on a mutiny if one is bad, but I'd only be one vote in any event. The idea is giving us the most and best info about whether a mutiny is a good idea.

If Glorf doesn't show up or if he shows up and doesn't want to be captain I will do that. But if he shows up and does want to be captain - I think he's legitimately the best choice on the board.

Enrique wrote: Mon Aug 06, 2018 9:23 pm Does it really make that big a difference who the captains are, though? Won't you still have to read them in the same way as any other player? If anything, and using your logic, if you want to be captain and you're voting for people you know you can read wouldn't you necessarily be placing them in opposite crews where you get less access to them? The voting strategy confuses me. @Golden
Why do I get less access to them? They are still in the thread where I can read everything they say, right? I might not get to pull the trigger on a mutiny if one is bad, but I'd only be one vote in any event. The idea is giving us the most and best info about whether a mutiny is a good idea.
Makes sense, thanks. I don't think we should undervalue our "just one vote"s too much though, crews are small.

When I read this, I chuckled to myself and thought, "If I were bad, I'd be going after nutella for looking like she cared how she looked."

I'm sold

changing my ddl vote to epi.... unless we think it would be productive to have someone we suspect as a captain so we can mutiny them right away? :ponder:

This is what I was thinking as well. Say we elect DDL as a captain, then whoever is on his crew plans a mutiny. It looks like the best thing that could come from this (assuming DDL is scum) is the "Captain will be forced onto the lynch poll with +1 to vote tally."

If DDL is still a major suspect, he can be lynched without a +1 vote. Verdict: Not Worth.

For what it's worth, I prefer to be given a task, know exactly what's expected of me, and ten get er done.

I also have extensive Faster Than Light experience.

I'm crew through and through.

Apparently I can vote more than one person. Cool. Gonna try that.

Epi's case on DDL is a solid case, or, as solid as I've seen on D1. "People caring how other people see them" is one of those "tells" that people say is scummy... but it actually isn't. The correlation is not strong. DDL preyin' on that.

Epi's megapost is literally the only thing I've read in the thread. I'm gonna make some blind votes and then skim.
