Maybe, but I'm being careful about the rules this game.

A side note, another possibility occurred to me about you-know-who:
He could be fetus, trying to draw lynches while unlynchable.
If we lynch him and nobody dies again, I lean that way.

fair enough - but no one asked and usually people are on that question like shit on a shingle so to speak so it just seemed weird to me that no one had blinked twice about your survival.

also Fetus as page 1 says it to be:

Dr. Fetus - [Super Meat Boy] – The game’s antagonist, Dr. Fetus, is truly evil. Every night, he hides Bandage Girl within a level that he has engineered to confuse Meat Boy; he must choose which level by the end of each day period. If she is found, he flees and tries again. Dr. Fetus cannot be lynched until Meat Boy is successful in finding Bandage Girl a fourth time.

this also makes some sense. He wouldn't be mod killed because he's claiming to be a role he doesn't have. And also - I could see him jumping full monty into the idea of "The game's antagonist." Especially if he's unlynchable for a certian amount of time. It would also make sense that he'd have claimed to helped "Bob, "himself," and you know, the guy on the other team." - this could still be plazmid work - is that what you are thinking?

linki again - THANK YOU DOM....

this one - is especially for dom.....

I see where you're coming from with the idea that He isn't Media, but I'd say the fact a buttload of players are all cursed with variations of the same lame curse is pretty damning evidence. Nobody got as many mentions as him on day 1, so it's unlikely that if Media was someone else they'd have earned the power to curse half the game IMO.

Yea - but I think - the whole point here is "reasonable doubt" Kate please correct me if I'm wrong in the legal definition here.

He *could* be media - he *could* have dumped lots of his secrets in the thread. And MP could *not* be Modkilling him here because it would lend crecidence to the fact that he was that role.

Or he *could* be this other role - and he's making it up as he goes along.

If I were NOT him, and I were Media. I have to say, I'd be trying to make him look like me while I hoped other people just said my name. I'd try to look as civ friendly as I could. Just so people said my name. Even just to agree with me. Just say my name baby - just say my name.

You see what I'm saying here?

Reasonable doubt. I think we have it?

Also - I am not media. I just played let's pretend up there.

Waves back to bea! :hugs:

I don't have an edit button--my guess is that as Dom said, some of the permissions are a bit messed up at the moment.

Something I was thinking about as I went to sleep last night. We keep focusing on how a bunch of players were targeted with the same curse. And how that's indicative of "chaos". But look at the players who are cursed (and I think this is what Lizzy may have been trying to point out with this post). These are the players cursed with the Lou Reed lyrics:
A Person
AceofSpaces
agleaminranks
bea
birdwithteeth
blindfaeth
Boomslang
Bullzeye
Devin the Omniscient
DFaraday
DharmaHelper
DisgruntledPorcupine
Dom
Elohcin
(probably BDH too, but he hasn't posted since Night 1)

That's not random at all. That's the first half of the player list. :ponder:

I agree with you as well - it's specific.

Lizzy was really spot on for pointing it out and I can't give her credit enough - she displayed what she meant - insanified - so very clearly.

so - FH - what are you thinking? I was thinking that maybe Media wasn't him - but trying to mimic him.

You seem to suggest that this wide cursing was very specific - I'm not sure I'm seeing yet what you are seeing.

also - now that I've seen the list - I've totally missed every post elo has made. :(

I still see the edit button - but we are champions and we will not edit. :noble:

I am not going to mess with permissions during a game; those of us who remember 4EW know where THAT can lead~ and MP has enough on his plate. Honestly, we are all adults and should be able to avoid the temptation, lol.

fh - I guess it's weird to me that I see an edit button so firmly on my posts that you don't seem to have. maybe like me at first? you just assumed you didn't have it?

you just keep me hanging on
you just keep me hanging on

FWIW - SVS AND MP - WE ARE CHAMPIONS AND WE SHOULD RESIST TEMPTATION. AND ALSO - WE SHOULD KNOW BETTER. ANYONE WHO EDITS DESERVES THE MOD KILL HE BRINGS ON HIMSELF TBH.

that said - I'm still going to raise my eye a bit at the player that says she can't edit when apparently we all theoretically could ;)

The permissions are not even, which is why they need to be fixed. Not everyone has the button. That is why they need fixing, everyone is supposed to be the same and they are not.

For instance, I do not have an edit button. Perhaps having hosted changed your permissions? This is something the Admins need to fix, but not mid game.

awe Mooby. I've missed you and you make a fair point. I'm sorry - my hed ran away with me for a quick minute.

I get what you are saying - things are uneven and it's not about anything - it's something that needs fixed but not mid game - and we shouldn't judge based on who can edit and who can't - right?

I got that one at least?

I think the lesson here is that if you see the edit button - you prolly really really *shouldn't* use it. :D

Don't know then, i just checked a few of the socks, and my Test account Mooby and none could edit. So we are going to have to go through the accounts one by one to fix it, and I do not see that happening with 3 games in progress, lol. We are just gonna have to go on the honor system. Also gonna fix your quote :)

Dom is someone I also don't think would stand for that kind of nonsense. The only real players I think would tolerate or encourage that sort of flippancy are like, Lizzy/Vomp :P
Yeah, that's definitely something else I've been thinking about myself. Because it just keeps me hanging on. I've been more than willing to throw teammates under the bus, sacrifice them, etc. before. But I know I personally would flip shit if one of them INTENTIONALLY broke a major mafia rule. And the only players who I could see allowing a teammate to do that would be Vomps and/or Lizzy.

I really wish I hadn't misread what day the poll ended, because AP getting modkilled and being revealed as a baddie has given us a lot more information to work with. And instead I just rushed it because I thought I was someone else.

O my god. Usually, at the beginning of the second day I have some inkling of who I might vote for but I'm going around and around right now given the many good points that have been made by people.

I wrote out a big ol' long post about what I was thinking but then decided it was too long and boring and rambling. So, I'll try to just cut to the chase. (And by the way, in both the iterations of a role with a sliding scale fo points that I've seen saying the name of the role didnt get you anything so thats why i'm using role name)

I don't have as much of a problem believing Media got to exempt some roles from chaos night because the Media in our game got to exempt everyone on her team from chaos night. Thus, I could see MP tweaking that part of the role description to Media gets to exempt several people from chaos night. The thing i am wrestling with is would he allow exemption by role name instead of player name?

I also don't have much problem believing that Zodac has the same power he had in MOTU since the other roles that I've compared are basically the same (I know we can't tell if the *secrets* are the same too). I just think MP would have wanted to put his mark on the role and I'm not sure how he would have tweaked a role like that. Maybe the power is only usable every other night or something like that.

On the other hand, I can see how it wasn't brought up that Zodac was protected until Epignosis laid out his theory. I also can't answer the questions as to how we are going to play the game if we are fearful each time that Zodac will switch the lynch from the highest vote getter, i.e., our biggest suspect to someone else. I know we are operating under many assumptions, the first being does Zodac have the same power and the next being was he protected, and the next being would he have chosen Media as one of his two people, and finally that he was allowed to pick by role instead of by player.

I'm mashing all these things together but at the moment i'm slightly leaning toward believing that we should vote for someone else, someone who we also believe is bad, for this vote today and then if everyone wants to come back for Media tomorrow (day 3). I say slightly though. There are a lot of good points being made.

Question: did the suspicion about russti get retracted? I didnt follow the argument about the time stamps on the posts but if it is important i certainly do want to understand it.

Also, russti I have to say that the role of Media was certainly SVS's brainchild and I agree she did a heck of a job with that role.

Haven't caught up and won't have time to today, but it looks like the plan to lynch he who shall not be named is under way, so I'll default to him - no one is invincible forever, I think if we persist we can be successful.

But tomorrow I want to look at Epi/Nevin closer, after I catch up~

@Dom: I already mentioned why I think Epig is bad. I feel he's trying to keep us from making another attempt at lynching redacted. I feel like he's making an awful lot of assumptions about Zodac's powers remaining unchanged (I honestly don't believe MP would do that). While I still do wish that I had held off on voting, I can understand the logic of at least making another attempt today and seeing if either a lynch doesn't occur or if someone else gets lynched instead. Because information is power, and it's just a perfect day. I'm glad I spend it with you.

As for my vote, I honestly thought the poll ended yesterday. So I freaked out when I thought I had 15-20 minutes left to vote and 5 pages to catch up on. So I skimmed really quickly and placed a vote on redacted a minute before I thought the poll closed. When it didn't, I was confused and went and looked at the day and time it ended, and realized I got the day wrong. So yeah, I screwed up.

I do have a question for you though. Why are you willing to trust Epig so much when you've admitted that he's backpedaling? Because I don't see insistence being a good enough reason to go along with someone.

A) I think that peeps are way blowing out of proportion our fear of zodac. That said, I didn't play that game. But also - I can't let *EVERY* lynch vote I make be fearful that he will make bad things happen. Ya know? It feels like this role is built to make me paralized in voting. I refuse to let that happen. I encourage those who have more intamete familiarity with the role help us work past it and work to end that threat rather than continue to make us fearful of it.

And B) re: Media - I can see your delema. I have the issue with role name as well. from a different aspect. I think if Media wanted to be civ aliigned he had the perfect chance right there to show us he was cive aligned. But if Media is who he says he is - he did everything but be civ aligned.

C) RE: rustie - IDK -it was a nev theory that might have made sense but I couldn't make heds or tails of it - and also - nev retracted it given he was up too late so I didn't investigate farther after that.

D) Mr. Popularity has been something svs has been playing with for a long time. Since she had the role tbh. It was a major factor in our Dr. Suess game as well. We had wabbit in that role, but he was a no show so I got the pleasure of modkilling him :D . She's been tweeking that role for ages now. It's one of the many many reasons I'm so sad she was kicked out of this game so early. :( She is a champion. If anyone has a rez - it should go to her.

I'd like to clarify about my early-morning Russti case:

I thought that AP had only edited *one* post, and that he edited it from what MP posted first *to* what MP posted second.

Given that, I looked at the timestamps from AP and the consecutive Russ post and showed that Russ was backing up AP, and trying to help him hide a mistake.
But actually there were two edited posts, not one - my conclusions regarding Russti's post were incorrect, and
I have no reason to think he has any particular alignment after all.

Just a late-night mistake, brought on by lack of sleep and trying to play from an iPad.

I think our best play right now is to lynch ---- again, and see what happens.
If he doesn't die, he's Fetus.
If someone *else* dies, then we know Zodac has the same power as before (which is tactically *very* important to know).

I rather doubt MP would have left him the same, honestly.
The power was a little too game-controlling in MotU.

I know - I spent those three days sitting at this seat while my future husband was all "what the eff are you doing?" and I was all "WE MUST FIND THE FLAG!!" - fucking stockholm syndrome kicked in so hard. But in a game where EVERYONE was lms - I still think we all got to see some pretty civ game there.

Alright, a few things here! Sorry if I have been confusing or not around enough; my life got busy, and I knew it was going to get busy, but it is now even way more so than I expected, in many parts thanks to the teaching I am now doing. At more than one point this past week, I almost even wished I wasn't hosting this game, because I felt now I could not handle it, but I have every intention of continuing to host this for all of you, and for myself, and to give it the best damn hosting experience I possibly can.

Just try to understand I'm juggling a lot for the next 4 months. Maybe more than I ever have.

Kate wrote:
MovingPictures07 wrote:Hey everyone, I've had an insanely busy day and evening... I still have to compile more night actions.. I think I am still missing a few even. I'll give it a bit longer. I still need to do some more things anyway. I'll try to get to finishing my stuff here and then writing up the post as soon as I can. Sorry that life has gotten in the way; I feel I don't have near the time to host this as I thought I might since I've been balancing the new professor position, and also since I was on a Skype call with one of the PhD program directors for over an hour this evening.

So... post will come when it comes.
This post right here made it seem to me that pms were going to be accepted late. It does say some pms were missing and maybe he'd give it a bit longer.
I understand this. Sorry for the confusion. Let me lay out everything:

I did post that and did have the intentions of waiting around for say, another 10 minutes to see if I would get any of those missed PMs, and for a very particular reason (there was at least one power I should have sent an initial clarifying PM at the beginning of Night to the individual who has it, but since I was busy it slipped my mind, and as a result this person in theory didn't get to send in their power in time because I did not see their inevitable question until the last minute). So, as a result, there was 1 additional PM I accepted, but that was it. I did not get any PMs from anyone changing their power, so no powers were changed from the exact ending time.

Then after just like 5-10 minutes, I decided I wouldn't take any more powers, and then later came to the conclusion of "extending" the night period because I had SO MUCH going on that day/night. I was up until almost 2AM dealing with technical difficulties in putting up homework for my students.

So apologies for being unclear and at first seemingly indecisive; I was juggling many things and trying to figure out what I wanted to do.

Thereafter, I had NO intention of extending the night period to allow people extended time to submit night powers. It was only because I had no time and knew it was a lot for me to compile -- too much.

The summary is: Everyone's night powers were submitted before the actual 24 hour deadline, with the exception of a few. One of those few was for good reason. I ended up accepting one of those at a later time. I did not accept anything else after the official deadline. So therefore, the extra time you guys received was exactly what it was: extra time. I would not have allowed people to change their PMs during that time. Never. That would be unfair.

bea wrote: MP! Is it because we are champions and we should be able to show restraint? Or is it because I'm a nub and everyone always could edit?
No, this is because I had to create the subforum for this game in a hurry and from scratch -- and when I tested the permissions, the registered user's permissions I tested with could not edit, so I assumed it was OK.

Given I see the "EDIT" box near every post in every thread across the site, I didn't think twice about it.

Then the AP incident happened when I was away.

I wish I could say I left the button there for such a poetic reason as you described though. But it was a permissions bug, my mistake. Nonetheless, everyone here knows you cannot edit in the game. So even if all of you could see edit buttons, I was shocked to find someone did it not only once, but TWICE.

also - I so get all that and also - FUCK IT - WE ARE CHAMPIONS AND WE DO NOT EDIT. WE KNOW THE RULES.
I did do that -- and it showed that particular user could not edit. I can hop into any particular user's eyes by temporarily adopting their permissions, and considering that worked, I had no reason to believe anything was wrong.

So I don't know how this happened; it must have been some kind of permission oversight on my part, but S~V~S has apparently since fixed it.

I didn't at all mean to make you sound like you effed up in any way. I just ment that you could use me to test things and I'd be ok with that. I'm soooo sorry - my last comment sounded so bad. :(

I kind of wish I had thought of purposefully leaving it there to tempt you guys though. Sounds like way more fun. :feb:

But I guess we got what would have been the result anyway. :P

I have to go now; I'll try to be back before the poll ends in case there are any other questions, but at the least I'll be back around when the poll ends to post the result.

Linkitis with bea: Oh, no worries! I didn't take offense. :) I just have a lot on my plate, but nonetheless want to stress to all of you that my mind is 100% in making sure things run smoothly here and to give you the best hosting experience you can, so when something doesn't go the way I think it should, I feel I need to clarify as to exactly what happened. Sorry for not catching that part of the remark though (that you were implying I could use your permissions); I missed that. :p

I don't know if it's a good idea to put too much stock into potential editing, since we generally don't know all the details. While I do think that we need to broaden our search, Nevinera does have a good point.

I'll have to vote pretty soon because I've got a busy day. I have to feed animals in the zoo, then later a movie, too.
Spoiler: show
