that's good to know Matty. Twinnings is my fav Earl Grey. I thought about trying Tazo as I love the passion tea so much, but I won't try it now.

Thank you for being the sacrifice the island demanded. :noble:

A couple of earl greys I've had were like that, they have this sort of bitter aftertaste I can't describe well. I used to drink Tazo Zen a lot when I was first getting into tea, and I still like that. I've also had their loose leaf green at a Starbucks and that was good too. I think it's the bergamot flavoring that messes with me. I've not had Twinings' Earl Grey but I have had Numi's and that was good, so I'm not sure what causes it. :S

Teavana has an Earl Grey creme that makes me so happeh!

However, I do try to govern myself as a lady (a few of you won't believe this), and therefore I favor Lady Grey.

Theoretically I should like Lady Grey more than Earl Grey but I've only had it once and it wasn't very strong so I dn't have much of an opinion on it yet.

I am drinking Allegro Earl grey with almond milk right now. I feel so decadent. It's a little weak, since I over brewed the first cup, by forgetting it, but I don't care. Yum!

Mongoose, you are such a lady. Now drink your tea dear. :slurp: :pinkiesout:

LOOK AT THIS!!! HE POSTED IT IN THE WHAT ARE YOU READING THREAD!!!
thellama73 wrote:I just finished the little-known Herman Melville novel "Pierre." Possibly the weirdest book I've ever read, including House of Leaves.
I admit. I fell for it and posted behind it, but then I realized what llama was doing. He is trying to steal our TEA thunder!!!

I made this thread with the pun of the song:

But I feel it. Don't let llama get us down. Tea drinkers - we can post in other threads - but we must always unite and take over so we are always at the top of things! Mostly because it makes llama somehow cranky and I'm ALL about that. :p :haha:  :fiesta:

I've been drinking Rooibos red tea most mornings. I enjoy it very much- so much so that I have even substituted my last beer of the night for a cup. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is saying something.

For me, it smells of sweet pipe tobacco. I do not smoke, but once upon a time I did enjoy a pipe or a cigar two or three times a year when the weather was perfect and the mood struck.

It's like that, in a cup.

I just bought some pear caramel black tea and I'm super stoked about it. It smells sooooooo good! I'll relay the details when I can find a tea strainer somewhere in this (not my) house. Might have to use a coffee filter.

That reminds me, there is a kind of bagged oolong I sometimes get that, when steeped, reminds me of the smell of the tobacco my mom uses to roll cigarettes for some reason.

I went MacGyver on the coffee filter this morning - put the tea in the filter, twisted it, and stabbed the top with a bamboo skewer so I wouldn't burn myself (there's no kitchen twine or string of any sort here, which I'm sure would've been easier). It worked quite well! Metal tea strainers, thankfully, are not terribly expensive, so if you ever do get one, it won't break your wallet. Just make sure you get a mesh one unless you want big chunks of leaves and whatnot (not tasty in my opinion).

Now That's improvising!!! Though it seems odd to me there's bamboo skeweres and no kitchen twine. Man, you buy a package of kitchen twine for one turkey and your stocked for like a year.

I learned how to make my own cold brew ice coffee this year. The hubby and I are trying to quit drinking soda so there's been more coffee and tea around the house these days. We have 4 of these ice tea pictures that have the strainer just down the middle of the pitcher and you pop the tea bags in there. He says "I'd love to get one of these defuser pitchers. I say "why don't we just pop the fruit and junk in the pitcher we already have? It's pretty much the same thing. He looks at me like I'm a genius.

One of us read the instruction packet that said "you may also use this as a fruit defuser for your tea." Guess which one of us it was? :D

Everyone at my new job (I'm a big fancy lawyer again!) drinks coffee all the time so I hardly drink any tea! I need to rectify that.

I had forgotten to mention the tea mongoose sent me for my birthday, it was good and helped me find a brand of herbal tea that I really like. Lately I've not tea'd much either because I am still using up the coffee I have, and it goes stale faster.

I just ate quite a lot of chocolate peanut butter soymilk ice cream and it felt pretty hedonistic. Now I want tea! Have I told you all about a local company that makes Profani-teas? They sell varieties called Chill the F*ck Out, Calm the F*ck Down, etc. I want them to make a "Go the F*ck to Sleep" one next. :coffee3:

For Christmas, I got lapsang souchong, longjing, and jasmine tea. I also got a golden eyebrow (Jin Jun Mei) sample. They are all amazing, especially the longjing and jasmine tea. All the other jasmine tea I've had before has had a sharp taste to it. If not steeped carefully, it would be very unpleasant. This however has a smooth, flowery taste and I rather like it. The longjing is wonderfully grassy in that longjingy way, and I love the color of the tea and the look of the steeped leaves. The lapsang souchong is great too, nothing unexpected from it but still smoky and delicious. I have only sampled jin jun mei once before and it was hands down my favorite black tea I've tasted, so I look forward to tasting that again. It has a naturally sweet flavor that needs absolutely nothing added.

nice! I love jasmine, and the other ones sound awesome too.

My aunt gave me a Manatea infuser :D:D and three teas from Medley in Portland to go with it: Rose City Blend, Hawaiian Blend, and Honeybush. The first one is a rose petal black, which of course I love. The Hawaiian one seems to have hibiscus and ginger, and it is wayyy too fruity/strong on the hibiscus for my tastes. The Honeybush is a rooibos I think, and is ok. Mostly I'm really happy about the infuser, it's awesome :D

Honeybush is actually different from rooibos, but it's another herbal tea from South Africa. I think it's a little sweeter than rooibos.

Thanks to a friend I have lately been making with this lately. It's so nice! It makes me want to drink tea even more. I also have been drinking coffee puerh thanks to that same friend. I mixed it with coffee grounds and it is pretty good. The tea has a mainly puerh flavor and it mixes well with coffee. I tried mixing lapsang and coffee the other day and that worked pretty well too.

Have you guys conquered Serbia yet? Y'all are doing great in the "drinking tea" part, but seem to be total slackers when it comes to the bit about "conquering Serbia".

You guys need to step up to the plate, the Serbian plate :nicenod:
