Day 2: A Tragic Day

Muslin led the good fabrics through a chase after seeing a scrap of Terrycloth. The group ran into a parade of pennyfarthings.

"Wait, is that llama?" asked Brocade.

"No, I think it's just a guy with a mustache," said Taffeta.

"Wait, what is that ahead?" asked Tweed.

The group slowed behind a tractor trailer. The tractor trailer slammed on its brakes to avoid the mustachioed pennyfarthing cyclist, which caused the truck's contents to dump all over the road. Everyone missed it except Muslin.

Lucy has been lynched. She was muslin.

It is now Night 2.

A contest will be announced momentarily. Playing is optional but that prize is a doozy!

CONTEST: Haiku 4 U

Rules:

  • Each player may submit ONE haiku in the traditional 5-7-5 to Mod @Seanzie by the end of Night 2 (go by the deadline of the Night Poll).
  • Mod Seanzie will compile all the timely-received submissions and will submit them to me without the authors' names attached.
  • Do not send them to @Spacedaisy as she may be needed to break any ties.
  • Haikus should be vaguely Syndicate or Mafia themed. If you mention other players in your haiku, make sure you are abiding by the site's rules and guidelines.
  • The Winner will be announced in the middle of Day 3. The prize will not be announced. It is up to the winning player if they would like to tell the group what they received (this is a noted exception to the ban on info-dumping in this game's preliminary post).

That's it! Have fun! Or don't, I'm not the rulemaker around here. Non-players and dead players are welcome to each post a haiku in the thread if they wish.

Falling leaf, cascading
Softly drifting to the ground
Nature's tapestry

Mafia smoke cigars
In the shadows, plotting deals
Power and influence

Spinning skirt, a blur
Twirling, swirling in the breeze
Graceful, elegant

Chaos theory reigns
Order, disorder, intertwined
Nature's complexity

Cosmos, vast and grand
Endless stars, swirling galaxies
Mysteries abound

Difficult math, a maze
Numbers, equations, confusion
Frustration grows strong

Tooth pain, sharp and raw
Throbbing, aching, never-ending
Agony and woe

Absence of freedom
Chains, shackles, oppression reigns
Hope, a distant dream

Is suboptimal planning
Effective in achieving goals
Or just a hindrance?

Rondo and the twink had always been a bit of a mischievous pair. They loved nothing more than pushing the boundaries and breaking the rules. So when they heard about the opportunity to steal the Mona Lisa, they knew they had to take it.

They spent weeks planning and preparing for the heist, scouting out the Louvre and studying the security measures. They knew they had to be careful, but they were confident in their abilities.

Finally, the day of the heist arrived. Rondo and the twink slipped into the Louvre under the cover of darkness, their hearts racing with excitement and nerves. They moved quickly and quietly, avoiding the guards and making their way to the Mona Lisa.

It was a risky move, but they knew they had to do it. They carefully removed the painting from its frame and slipped it into a bag, grinning at each other in triumph. They had done it – they had stolen the Mona Lisa.

Now, Rondo and the twink were on the run. They fled to Italy, where they knew they would be safe. They spent their days exploring the beautiful country, tasting the delicious food and drinking the finest champagne. They were in love and they were free, and they knew that they would never look back.

As the years went by, Rondo and the twink became champions for gay rights. They fought tirelessly for the rights of others like them, and they made a real difference in the world. They were happy and free, and they knew that they had each other to thank for that.

As they lay in bed together, sipping champagne and enjoying each other's company, they knew that they had found their happily ever after. They fell asleep, wrapped in each other's arms, knowing that they were exactly where they were meant to be.

Quick tutorial for all the dead. In order to post in the dead red color, we have a handy “dead” button. Just make sure you are in the full editor and preview and you should see the button that reads “dead.” If you click that, it automatically generates the dead red code for you without needing to fiddle with font colors yourself. If this button won’t work for you for whatever reason, just use the brackets [ ] with the word “dead” inside them (minus the “”) at the front and use “/dead” inside the brackets at the end and it will have the same effect. Feel free to reach out if it still isn’t working for you

The mongoose's heart was pounding in his chest as he ran through the trees. He had never been so scared in his life, and he knew that he had to keep moving if he wanted to survive. He darted through the underbrush, his paws pounding against the ground as he tried to put as much distance between himself and the cougar as possible.

He could hear the cougar behind him, its claws slashing through the air as it closed in for the kill. The mongoose knew that he couldn't outrun the cougar for long, but he didn't have any other choice. He had to keep going, no matter what.

Finally, the mongoose emerged from the trees and found himself on the banks of a river. Without hesitation, he plunged into the water, his paws paddling madly as he tried to swim to safety. He could feel the cougar's hot breath on his tail as it closed in, and he knew that he was running out of time.

But the cougar was too fast. It lunged at the mongoose, its jaws snapping shut around its neck. The mongoose let out a final, pitiful cry as the life was squeezed out of him, and then it was all over.

As the cougar dragged its prey back into the trees, it was clear that the mongoose's fear had been well-founded. Its life had been cut short by a predator that was much faster, much stronger, and much more deadly than it could ever hope to be. The cougar was a master of the hunt, and the mongoose had been no match for it.

In the end, the mongoose's bravery and determination had not been enough to save him. He had fought with all his might, but he had been no match for the cougar's strength and speed. And so he had met his end, a victim of the circle of life that plays out in the wild every day.

Epignosis had always been a bit of a jester. He loved nothing more than to make people laugh, and he had a particular talent for poking fun at the things that others took too seriously. Whether it was the pomp and circumstance of the court, the vanity of the nobles, or the foibles of the royal family themselves, Epignosis had a knack for finding the humor in any situation.

And for the most part, his jokes were well-received. Everyone enjoyed a good laugh, and even the King and Queen themselves were known to chuckle at Epignosis's antics from time to time. But as with any good court jester, there was always a line that Epignosis knew not to cross.

That is, until the day that he went too far. Perhaps it was the wine that he had been drinking, or the fact that he had been performing for hours on end. Whatever the case may be, Epignosis found himself making jokes at the expense of the King and Queen's marriage, and even going so far as to make light of their own personal sins.

The laughter in the court died down quickly, and a hush fell over the room as everyone realized that Epignosis had gone too far. The King and Queen looked at each other in shock, and it was clear that they were both deeply offended by the jester's words.

Epignosis, realizing that he had made a terrible mistake, bowed deeply and begged for the royal couple's forgiveness. But it was too late. The damage had been done, and there was no going back.

That night, as Epignosis lay in his bed, he knew that he was in deep trouble. He had made an enemy of the King and Queen, and he knew that they would not forget his insults easily. So he did the only thing that he could think of - he poisoned himself, knowing that his death would be attributed to the royal couple.

The following day, when the news of Epignosis's death spread throughout the kingdom, there was outrage. The people were fed up with the King and Queen's corruption, and they took to the streets in protest. And when the Prince, who had always been a fan of Epignosis, saw the opportunity to seize power, he took it.

In the end, the King and Queen were ousted from the throne, and the Prince took their place. And as for Epignosis, his legacy lived on as the jester who had helped to bring down a corrupt monarchy.

Spoiler: show
DrWigly had always been a bit of a problem child. From a young age, he had a knack for getting into trouble, whether it was stealing money from his parents or breaking into the houses of his neighbors to pilfer some jewelry. Despite his mischievous ways, DrWigly was a bright and curious child, and he excelled in his studies. His teachers praised him for his intelligence and his eagerness to learn, and he consistently ranked at the top of his class.

But even as he excelled academically, DrWigly's penchant for trouble persisted. His parents tried their best to discipline him and set him on the right path, but their punishment only seemed to fuel his rebelliousness. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't seem to get through to him.

Eventually, DrWigly graduated from high school and set his sights on attending a prestigious medical school. He worked hard to get accepted, and after several years of intense study, he graduated at the top of his class.

As a surgeon, DrWigly was highly sought after, and he quickly rose through the ranks at the hospital where he worked. He was charming and well-liked by his colleagues, and no one suspected that he was capable of any wrongdoing. But despite his success, DrWigly couldn't shake his desire to cause harm.

Over the course of five years, DrWigly intentionally killed 50 patients, using his position of power and trust to cover his tracks. He was careful and cunning, and no one suspected a thing. He seemed like the perfect surgeon - competent, confident, and compassionate.

But eventually, DrWigly's luck ran out. A nurse stumbled upon some incriminating evidence, and the truth about his crimes was finally revealed. The hospital was rocked by the revelation, and DrWigly was immediately dismissed.

He was arrested and charged with murder, and at his trial, the full extent of his depravity was laid bare. It was a shocking revelation, and DrWigly was sentenced to life in prison.

In the end, it was only by sheer luck that DrWigly's crimes had been uncovered. He had gotten away with murder for far too long, and the thought of all the lives he had taken was a heavy burden to bear. DrWigly would forever be remembered as a depraved and dangerous individual, and the world was a little safer without him in it.
