Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]
My motivation on Day 1 is to get as many people talking as I can. I want to know where everyone's head is at, even if they're having trouble formulating thoughts; I want to know where they're getting stuck, or whatever else. If something comes along that I particularly like or dislike, I'll put it out there and see who bites.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]
I'll never have all the facts about a game that I'm playing in, and the best that we can do is make the most of what is observable to us. The more that is observable, the stronger our foundation will be, so I like to make people talk. I like to think that I'm an avid pot stirrer, and my means are in the interest of solving the game, so I certainly feel justified in prodding people.
How do you feel about my vote being on you right now?

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]
My point about Pirates wasn't meant to be central to what I had to say about kyle. I just wanted to note that he was hanging back more in this game than in that one. We started to veer into discussion of his play specific to that game, and I don't think that's relevant or constructive here.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 4:34 pmKinda unfair to say you suspect someone because of a difference in Game A and Game B, then say you don't want to discuss Game A anymore, no?Sloonei wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 3:31 pmI don't want to discuss another game any further in this thread. I mostly like his answers to my interrogation so far. He seems composed and eager to work toward a solution. I still don't know enough about his gameplay to say that that's a definitive town-tell and I still would like to hear more diverse thoughts from him.

My final Day 1 vote is not the same as a Day 1 pressure vote. I like for that one to be reasoned and informed. All the other ones are just me poking people with a stick. I was saying that I hadn't been convinced that Epi was deserving of a final vote, but that the door was not shut on it.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]
Yup, that's how I play. I had a very slight ping on Day 0, I was anxious to get the game started, so I mentioned it so that we'd have something to talk about. It was never a serious suspicion.Spacedaisy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 1:55 amI don't think Glorf is going to show.

See you say "pressure votes" but did I ever even have any votes at any time? And also, did anyone other than Sloonei ever say they actually suspected me? Because this is what troubles me, Sloonei indicated he suspected me strongly, on a couple of occasions actually. And the response from everyone seemed to be meh, we don't see it. And Sloonei dropped it like a hot potato. He never indicated he found my explanation plausible. He never seemed to give me so much as a "not sure I buy it, but I'll let it go for the moment," Nothing. I woud normally dismiss Sloonei's early actions as trying to force conversation, but this didn't fee like he was really looking for conversation, looking back at it now it feels to me like he was throwing the spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. That concerns me. Especially since he never even voted for me that I am aware of. If he was so suspicious of me, why did he drop it without a peep? And why did he never actually vote for me?

The honest answer is I felt in my belly that Long Con should be bad while I was working so I put my vote on him and expected to give a good explanation when I got home. But then that didn't happen til after midnight and I'd lost my train of thought, but the lynch looked settled, more or less. I tried to get caught up but that was a dumb idea. I still haven't read pages 10-15.

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 1]
With regards to your reason for voting me specifically: you definitely are reading too much into my early poo fling at you. I was never strongly suspicious of you. I did vote for you, for about 5 minutes. I wanted to create an avenue for discussion and tried to do that through you. Instead, other avenues picked up. So I dropped it. Your response was good. This response is also good. I see nothing but a strong spacedaisy who's not tolerating any of my crap. I have a philosophical disagreement about vote application, but that's not a reason to be suspicious.Spacedaisy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 1:10 pmBecause I believed Nutella to be civ (though she has fooled me before so I wasn't 100% certain) and though I am tinfoiling LC and Epi, it's nowhere near solid enough a suspicion to place a vote there. So basically I voted the person I lost suspected at the time. Hello Mesk, pleasure to meet you. I believe our strategies may be completely different. I've highlighted the interesting portions. How do you go about solving the game without passing judgment on player interactions? And why would a hard working townie want to hold their tongue for the first cycle? Day 1 is the point at which we will have the highest number of townies, so it's the best time to let all your thoughts fly.Mesk514 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:25 am uh no. that would require too much effort and we're all still getting to know each other first..jesus i just realized this game is already 700+ posts in.... Which is a rule I intend to keep, especially given it's 2:30 am.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]
This seems to be the post where Jack went full throttle on his nutella suspicion, and from there the rest of the votes trickled in. I expected a more substantive case somewhere along the line. My reaction to nutella's post in question was the exact opposite of Jack's: nutella is approaching this game completely fast and loose and is exuding confidence in the ideas she puts into the thread. Jack waves his hand at it and calls her bad. But I don't see why. I don't see what the bad girl strategy of this post is.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 7:53 pmI take back what I said about lynch Epi first. Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 1]
I am the person Epi allegedly tried to intimidate on Day 1. He was not trying to intimidate me.
I was also the first person to bring up what has been dubbed his "buddying" of two players. I do not think this is a valid line of suspicion. It is on par with my Day 0 Daisy prod.
The case against Epignosis is a silly one.

Are you more inclined to look favorably on either one of them than you were before?Spacedaisy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:34 pmThis makes a difference in my view of my previous tinfoil of Epi/LC actually.Sloonei wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:23 pm I am the person Epi allegedly tried to intimidate on Day 1. I'm heading to work, I'll check in occasionally but don't expect much out of me for the next seven hours or so.

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 1]
I meant "bogus" both in that his statements do not make complete sense and that he may not always believe what he says. I'm unclear on where you stand on these issues, particularly as they relate to this post.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:50 pmI guess we're using "bogus" differently.
I think LC is being truthful and wrong in regards to that slip.
LC seeming to not actually believe his case is an LC tell.
Make sense?

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 1]
I think the questions about LC "knowing" certain players were civ was Epi throwing LC's logic back in his face. LC built a case where he makes broad assumptions about Epi, so Epi returns the favor. That's just how I saw it and he can tell me I'm wrong.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:55 pmWhat about the bits regarding bad handwaives of noncircular reasoning as circular reasoning and junk about "how does LC know those players are civs" etc?Sloonei wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:23 pm I am the person Epi allegedly tried to intimidate on Day 1. Do you think Epi was being dishonest? Do you think any of that was alignment indicative?
I don't know what else you are referring to here.

Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 1]
LC and Epi have a history of this sort of thing. It's within LC's meta to go after him like this. And LC is also one of the boldest scum players we'll see, according to legend. I get the impression that he's willing to do just abot anything.speedchuck wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 6:23 pmLC would not have, as scum, taken one of the danciest, hardest-to-lynch targets and formed a stupid argument to try and lynch him. My meta on LC says this sincere, earnest, and suicidal lynchlust comes from a town headspace.speedchuck wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 7:53 pm (Basically I would think LC is scum but following such a stupid argument if he didn't genuinely see something in Epi is suicidal)
(And that's a town meta read on LC for me)
And seriously, who would target Epi as their easy D1 lynch?
Motive-wise, it makes zero sense for LC to be scum outside of tinfoil land.

Yes. Why make an accusation if it's not really directed at anyone?Dragon D. Luffy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:18 pmYou guys really like names don't you.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 8:56 pm @Elohcin

Who kind of wants to vote for Epi?
People that think Epi is scum but are voting for someone they also think is scum don't count. Who are the vultures?

But your defense of Epi implies that other players are being shady. You can't have the defense without any accusations.Dragon D. Luffy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:22 pmBecause the point was not to make an accusation. It was to defend Epi.Sloonei wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:19 pmYes.
