The war between the Pride Landers and the Outlanders was raging and Scar was getting restless. His takeover of the Pride Lands was going beautifully, so many killed and others had run away. He was ready to take his rightful place as King now that Mufasa was out of the way. There were just a few loose ends to clean up before he could claim his domain. One of those loose ends he came upon as dawn broke - that wisecracking friend of Simba.

Poor Timon, he knew every meerkat was on his own and vulnerable in the big, cold world. He had to defend himself, defend the Pridelanders' honor. Take revenge for Pumbaa! But when the hyenas closed in on him, he knew it was over. There was no point in shouting out of rage in hopes someone would hear him. The Lion Guard had left Pride Rock to Timon's guard, certain that the Outlanders wouldn't dare enter that night so they hid in the lands to guard the animals below. The hyenas stopped and backed away, making room for a silhouette much larger. It was Scar. Timon's legs began to shake, but he picked himself up.

His last thought, as Scar looked into his eyes declaring himself King, was how he had failed Simba. Only a miracle could save them now.

Once again morning came to the Pride Lands. The animals, exhausted from the emotion of yesterday, began to wake. They had slept soundly the night before, maybe too soundly as it soon became obvious one of them was missing. Could they be close by? Soon the Lion Guard who had been sent to search came back with the grim news. The Outlanders had struck again.

Every member of the Lion Guard had vowed to find the Outlanders responsible for the chaos of the night before. The whole day, they worked tirelessly, scouring the land and interrogating everyone from the tallest giraffe, to the smallest shrew. All to no avail. There was no trace, no clue left on who it could be. Hour after hour, they would return to Pride Rock emptyhanded, their shame arousing anger in them and their anger beginning to make them sloppy and paranoid. With tension ever growing, the disgruntled Lion Guard decided there were no Outlanders among them, it was an inside job, there was a traitor! Or so they thought...

It was a lively morning at Pride Rock, but that much was to be expected. Outlanders had made their way into Pride Lands and attacked a herd of unsuspecting gazelles, taking their young ones mercilessly. There was unrest, everyone was talking at the same time, anxiety and dread filled the air. Simba looked out to see the worry and fear in the Pridelanders' eyes; he knew a dark era had reached Pride Lands and Scar was behind it. He had known his uncle's exile wouldn't last forever, but he had to act quickly and find out where the Outlanders were hiding to put an end to this unrest before it got out of control. Mufasa's spirit had warned him that Scar's vengeance would be a lot stronger and harder to defeat a second time around. It was time to gather all the animals and work together to banish the Outlanders once and for all.
