Is losing our minds not part of the design?
Ordinarily, no. I’ve never understood why they turn out the way that they do. Half the time you folks just go all post-happy on me and it goes from there. The other half of the time is probably my fault for throwing something unexpected at you, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it was a well-thought-out something unexpected.

I had fun up until the day people said some rough things about my choice to let you lynch me. I made a choice that was designed to wake people up, and it did, at least for a little while.

Always a pleasure, LC and BR. ‘Tis a pity that I won’t get to play one of these masterpieces again.
You may not be playing, but please please please don't be a stranger. You can participate in Off-Topic chat, the music threads, art, etc. Don't disappear.
Oh, I’m not going anywhere. I’m just not compatible with larger games anymore. Heists are my limit. Unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to participate in future Long-Rock productions. Despite all that, you can’t get rid of me that easily! :p

There are six civilians out of eleven players. One of them is not going to off himself to prove some generic suspicion wrong. No thanks. Seinfeld gif.
Oh there's still a chance for the civvies to win without me. With me dead, there will still be two baddie factions, which means cross-kill opportunities to keep the civvies in this. It's improbable, but still possible. The civvies don't lose if I am lynched; they just move to the precipice of losing. Just like every other mislynch.

Everyone is sapped and confused, so am I, maybe that’s why, or maybe I’m just frustrated at G-Man still being alive when he’s most likely just scum and nobody is even keen to check him out and agree or disagree with me.

I’m at a stage where my most confident read is not regarded as even slight scum by anyone and how would you even react in this situation? I’m tired of having to constantly point out the obvious, of course I don’t have the drive.
tedxtr wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2020 9:01 am Like just give me one reason G-Man is town. Just one.
tedxtr wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:02 am I was talking about the first point mostly.

I mean it still goes on from D1 but there's really nobody else I scum read as hard as I do on him, but I guess the early engagement I had with him and the interest I had in lynching his slot kind of left a stain on my brain and I can't get rid of it until I'm proven wrong.

compromising with the majority would mean lynching the one dude who i have a town read on and I just can't vote him.
tedxtr wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:05 am He's just not doing anything man and as soon as we let the leash off him he's been way too comfortable, make a contrast between his early game where he had to make a whole shtick for a whole day phase in order to fend off suspicion and now when he's not even talked about.
tedxtr wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2020 2:37 pm I honestly don't know why I have to make a compelling scum case on G-Man because there is none. My point is he's done nothing. Nada. Zero.

There's barely anything for me to point out, the shtick with oompa loompa doompa dippity squeakitty ittsy bitsy thing was horrible as I saw it as his way of dealing with pressure, but my whole point is that there is nothing town about him, and there should be.

I don't know what this is called in psychology, but what you are doing is saying "There's no way JFK was assassinated by a nobody" because he was a nobody. "There's no way G-Man is scum because he hasn't done anything that outs him as scum" is a bad argument to make in general on a slot that has 10 posts and 8 were hidden behind a shtick so I couldn't snipe his scum tone.

It's as simple as there's nothing that makes him town and that's all you're having. It doesn't always have to be "He's scum because...", sometimes the lack of a town agenda or anything that can be identified as town behaviour is enough.

Hiding behind a shtick and deliberately choosing to maintain the idea of him being cursed by not refuting it only when he was in danger of being lynched and he saw the shtick didn't work - is enough of a reason to place him at some sort of scum position.

It's anti-town to hide behind shticks. It's anti-town to not call out that you aren't cursed, just trolling. Him doing it only when he's in danger of being lynched is the scummiest thing I've ever seen. HE LET THE IDEA OF HIM BEING CURSED SKATE BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE TOWN READING IT, and when people had enough of it, he dropped it.
tedxtr wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2020 3:01 pm G-man's not an easy target because for 7 fucking phases people said they don't want to lynch him.

You need to lose your obsession and your ego, and just play. If you're a civvie hunting to win, a baddie hunting other baddies, or 3P hunting to survive, you are wrong, and the only way to show you how wrong is to give you what you want. I'm not giving up; I intend to give you want you want and let you live with the consequences.

I've been doing weird crap in mafia since I started playing 12 or so years ago. Have you noticed that every single one of my posts this game begins with the letter O? That's part of a long-running gimmick quest that started on May 6, 2016. I've held to this gimmick both as a civvie and as a baddie. Not sure if I had any 3P action in there at all, but if so, I did it then too.

Why?

Because I play for fun, not pride.

I'm not a very good mafia player in general. As a baddie, I'm guilty of trying too hard. As a civvie, I'm average at best, with a few fleeting moments of competency and even fewer fleeting moments of brilliance. Part of that is that I don't play often enough to hone my skill. Compounding that is the fact that I don't care to play often enough to hone my skill. I'm here to have my fun and to try my best not to screw up badly enough that I develop a reputation for sucking. I'm here to bring a smile to my face and to the faces of others. Once you see that a few times, you'll learn to handicap around it, as some have.

You seem like a round-hole kind of guy, but you have met one mother of a square peg.

Let's do this, finally. Serve up my head on a silver platter. Then learn from it.

In the meantime, excuse me while I do my silly dance.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 7]

Over the course of the game, Ted has brought me up as a scum read. It’s persistent but not quite tunneling. I don’t believe I have ever played a game with him before, so he doesn’t know me and I don’t know him. Those of you who know me know that I speak truth when making posts like I did earlier in the game. As a civvie, I play a nakedly honest game. Even as a baddie, there are lines that I will not cross.

Several of the remaining players know this. Ted does not. This suggests to me that Ted is on his own. If he were on Team Master, he should have at least one teammate telling him that it’s unwise to keep pursuing me as a lynch option. Nevertheless, he persists. To me, that means he is either a civvie, 3P, or the Anti-Monitor.

The rest of Team Anti-Monitor was Radish, sabie, and sig. None of those three have what I would call an extensive playing history with me. That could explain why Ted has been so persistent- none of those theoretical teammates would know to tell him to stand down.

But that’s all theoretical. I’m going to look at Ted’s voting history and see if it’s Anti-Monitor-compatible. I’m also going to go back and look at Dom’s sus lists and how they developed. Civ Dom is a powerful resource, and I trust his input to help me start putting some pieces together.

G-Man, interesting facts about wombats but do you have any thoughts about the game?
Of course I do. I still have nagging doubts about Sloonei. I think he is very compatible with Team Master. But he’s not the only one. Now that we’re down to just 12 players, it should be easier for me to keep everyone straight, but I have neither the time nor the interest to go through the whole game. The last two days perhaps, but that’s being optimistic.

There were no kills on Night 1 or Night 3. Both nights were Team Anti-Monitor nights. With The Anti-Monitor the only remaining member of that team left, there’s no way for the few remaining roles capable to thwart a kill to do so on odd nights.

If Team Master does us a favor and picks off the Anti-Monitor tonight, then we might be able to stop kills every night if those few civvie roles remain alive. If Team Master chooses to pick off a top civ read, then wombat poop. If both sides pursue this strategy, then wombat poop squared.

Both sides know we’re analyzing the votes, so future close votes may not prove as revealing as D2 and D3. It all builds with each death and each reveal though. We just have to hope that time doesn’t run out before we catch a break.

One thing we can do to start sorting out the Anti-Monitor is determining which players we feel are not compatible with Mac/Team Master. If we don’t feel like anyone on the ensuing list looks damning enough to be Anti-Monitor, then it may be someone we feel is compatible with either team.

Tonight, as I said, is a Team Master kill night. While it would be nice for them to kill Anti-Monitor for us, no kill tonight would be acceptable too. That could break the game open for us again. Losing two civvies to those lynches sucks because it’s eight against four (civvies to baddies) at best, if Dyslexicon was a 3P.

On my way out the door. I’m going to keep things spicy and vote for Speedchuck. Maybe we can squeeze some information out of a closer lynch.

I’ll think about my secret vote some more, but it will most likely be TH.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 6]

On board with the Colin & TH plan based on their votes. Colin’s D2 and D3 votes look compatible with Team Master. TH could be compatible with Team Master or Anti-Monitor. I haven’t had time to add D5 to my colorized vote data. I want to consider that with my analysis of prior days.

Having not much content of value myself, I hesitate to call anyone else’s out just yet today. I’m going to try to re-read D5 at lunch today.

Now that I work in the administrative offices for a school district, it’s been interesting. There was a lot of War Room activity yesterday and there’s a state webinar today plus more war rooming. Stay calm and safe folks.

And please don’t flush napkins, toilet paper, or wet wipes! It will clog pipes and sewer plants. If society breaks down when people have to take care of their business with buckets, I won’t let you into my doomsday compound.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 5]

On my way to a long meeting in about an hour. I have very little time to make a choice here. I’m more wary of Sloonei than Jay, but I feel that concern. He’s different this game but I can’t tell if it’s just grad school distraction. Sig is a sure bet, but I feel the concern about watering down his team too much and how that might hurt our analysis of lynch wagons. Then again, his teammate is unlikely to stick his/her neck out for sig and sig is probably trying very hard not to make his teammate stand out. I don’t know how much more we’re going to learn about Team Anti-Monitor with that dynamic in play.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 4]

On Day1, we know that Team Master had it easy. It was Team Anti vs 3P. Day 2 Mac was a suspect but not as glaringly as on Day 3. I suspect that Team Master was more likely to have a member or two voting on the Mac train to stay blended in the crowd.

Unknown Day 2 Radish (Team Anti) Voters:
-Tony
-JJJ
-Sloonei
-Epi
-Juliets
-Colin
-Turnip

Unknown Day 3 Sig (Team Anti) Voters:
-Colin
-Sloonei
-Dom
-Speed
-JJJ
-Juliets

NOTE: The following was based on being stuck in a thread with only JJJ, Juliets, Michelle, Sloonei, and Speedchuck. We operated under the assumption that one of us was probably a baddie.

So if we assume that there is a baddie in our midst, then there’s a higher probability of him or her being on Team Master.

My rough vote analysis suggests to me that it’s one of Juliets, JJJ, and Sloonei because of their two-day ‘avoidance’ of Team Master trains.

Thoughts?

Other behavior to consider:

-Michelle voted for Mac on D3 when it was ‘obvious’ to vote for him. On D2, she voted away from the two lead trains.

-Speed voted for Mac on D2 when voting Mac was less of a sure thing. On D3, he hopped aboard the Sig Express.

Which is more likely- a baddie voting away from a teammate on D2 when they’re not exposed but then soft bussing the day it helps to fit into the crowd, or voting for your teammate on a day when you don’t really have to but then chasing the new hottness that might buy your teammate another day?

We ended up splitting our vote this way:

JULIETS: Michelle
MICHELLE: JJJ, Sloonei, Speechuck
SPEEDCHUCK: G-Man, Juliets

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 4]

Only going off of the color-coded votes, I made the following observations:

-JJJ and Sloonei have voted on the same train all three days.

-All of JJJ and Sloonei’s votes have been for members of Team Anti-Monitor. This makes them both compatible with Team Master.

-Michelle voted once for both baddie teams and once for an unconfirmed player. This makes her hard to read.

-Looks like Day 1 ended before Speed, Juliets, and I voted. This makes analysis hard as well.

-Juliets D2 and D3 voted were for Team Anti-Monitor.

-Speed’s two votes are split across the two baddie teams. That muddies the waters.

-I voted for an unconfirmed and bounced between sig and Mac D3. Good luck with that.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 4]

Okay gang, here's what I/we worked with in our tier 2 dreamland. It's based off of Michelle's post, but I updated some names based on recent reveals. I've added sprityo to the mix now too. One topic of discussion we were having was compatibility with Team Mac or as the Anti-Monitor given vote patterns through Day 3. Once we get D4 poll results (I hope we get to see them all, I can add those too, but who knows just yet how useful they will be.

Red = Team Master
Purple = Team Anti-Monitor
Orange = 3P
Green = Civvie

Day 1:
1 DIZZY - Tony
1 JACK - Sprityo
1 JJJ - Radishes
6 RADISHES - JJJ, Ted, SVS, Michelle, Sloonei, Dizzy
1 NANOOK01 - Sig
6 NUTELLA01- Nanook01, Turnip, Sabie, Jack, Mac, Dom
2 SPEED - Epi, Nutella01

Day 2:
1 G-MAN - Ted
7 MAC - Speed, Sig, Jack, Dom, Sabie, Sprityo, Nanook02
9 RADISHES - Tony, JJJ, SVS, Sloonei, Epi, Juliets, Mac, Colin, Turnip
2 SLOONEI - Dizzy, G-Man
3 TURNIP - Michelle, Tranq, Radishes

Day 3:
2 JACK - Turnip, Mac
10 MAC - Ted, Tony, G-Man, Jack, Michelle, Nanook02, Sig, Sprityo, Epi, Tranq
8 SIG - Colin, SVS, Sloonei, Dom, Speed, Nutella02, JJJ, Juliets
