I don't understand why you are making this assumption.

Nobody got lynched? Bring on the Night kills on our side or whatever?

Come on.

How about this?

We get lynches and Night kills. They get lynches and Night kills.

Which lynch results and Night kill results we get may be subject to role operations and not host mechanics.
That's sort of what LC suggested.

I have no idea. It's not under my control, whatever it is.

Day 5 has ended. Long Con has been lynched. He was:
96: Michaelangelo, forger (Phenon). You may choose one player, and have them appear as any affiliation that you wish upon death. You may change the identity of that player at any time other than during the last hour of a phase. You are MAFIA and a member of the EVIL EVENS.

It is now night 5. It will last for 24 hours, meaning you have 22 hours to get your PMs in
[/center]
Long Con's second role says "upon death."
Golden wrote: Wed Mar 14, 2018 1:44 am
Speedchuck's role and affiliation has been revealed. He is:
You are TOWN. You will win if all anti-town factions are eliminated.

You are 59: The Moon (Elemental). Each night, you will PM one element to the hosts (Light, Darkness, Gas or Dust) and one player to be targeted for any effect the element may have. If the Sun is in the game, they will also choose one element out of Light, Darkness, Gas or Dust. When you and the Sun are both in the game, your element choices will combine to form one effect. Each combined effect may only be triggered once. The Sun's target will get the benefit of any positive effect, while your target will suffer any negative effect. You may not choose the same element or the same target on consecutive days. You will not be informed of the effects of your elements.
He is still alive. Carry on.
This post indicates that speedchuck is still alive (and this is speedchuck's second role). If this was the work of LC, speedchuck would be dead, no?
I think you are just playing semantics here, now THIS reminds me of the Epi of yore! But as I said, I don't expect this to pick up much traction, tbh. I will vote for him now and then, and gloat my freaking face off when he winds up bad at games end. Or slink into a corner and die of embarrassment if he doesn't. But I think he will. That whole aggressive defense of LC combined with LC's role flip, and the mysterious appearance of his role in the thread? I don't buy it.

In any case, I have to pick a vote. I was thinking of C Bob but not sure why others are voting for him?

It's not that I don't have an open mind. Long Con's role says "upon death," and the host explicitly said speedchuck is still alive. That, to my mind, contradicts the notion that LC fiddled with speedchuck's role, because speedchuck didn't die.
The post the host made in the thread at the direction of a player, you mean?

I am never gonna get any of you to lynch Chuck, much less the merged thread. Hell, if they have more people than us, I will be lynched ASAP once they hear about my role, if they have not already. If they have, first thing they will say is, "Why haven't you lynched SVS??". I am toast ha ha. Again, not sure why I got that role, it was pretty much a death sentence.

So I expect that Chuck will win this game and I won't, and am OK with that. I just want it on the record how I feel about this.

None of this helps me make my mind up about today.
We're on the same team, though, unless this is scum frustration. Why do you fear that you will lose just because you die?

Re: Pikachu Tribe - Day 7

colonialbob - coaaasssstiiiinggg

Dragon D Luffy - unlikely to be scum because of Epi POE

Dharmahelper - One of DH and Dom are the haiku-dude. I'll admit, I feel like I should have reason to scumread DH, but I'm not feeling it. His resistance of the LC lynch (more a willingness to consider other possibilities) is a good look IMO, because LC was getting lynched no matter what. DH was looking past the lynch, and considering what his townflip would mean.

dom - One of DH and Dom are the haiku-dude. Dom is not scum with LC. Revealing LC's role was powerful, and resulted in a couple of near-townfirms. Dom brought LC's slip to our attention, and was the main driver.

Epignosis - I townread Epi for working with POE to eliminate myself, DDL, and others from the running. He seems genuinely focused on gamesolving.

nutella - Nutella's partner was killed early. Why would scum handicap themselves?

Quin - mathematically town (shut up)

speedchuck - confirmed town

sprityo - cecil palmer, prolly town IMO

S~V~S - good tone all game, used her first role in a towny way, has tried not to look suspicious despite the infections that could result. She has no reason to try so hard, especially with a possible vote-manip scumbuddy to save her early if she gets too many votes. Good opportunity to kill all of the people, wasted. Also got nightkilled.

Some of these ignore 'multiple scumteams' and 'alignment changes'. Nothing is firm in this game. But I think this is a pretty good POE list, and I'm voting Cbob.

5.5 hours to go.

Cbob has been coasting all game on his invincibility. His role does nothing but punish people for lynching him, in a way that is completely outside his control and cannot be aimed at scum. If he gets lynched and the role does target someone, it serves no purpose but to waste time that could be spent hunting. A distraction.

I know that first-roles are supposed to be ambiguous in alignment. But it's the way that cbob used his role that I do not like. And I want to look at him while we have time.

Epi, I could believe number 2 on that list of yours. But the problem is number one. I suspect DDL mostly for interactions with LC, and so for game balance reasons, I'll hold off for now.
Don't think I'm writing off the idea, in a role madness game. LC's role in particular is hard to use, and I don't know how powerful town roles are. But Occam's razor, looking at DDL's roleblock role, his role number, and his role in relation to LC's role, it points to him being indy or town.

speedchuck wrote: Mon Mar 12, 2018 11:43 am The infamous D2 TIE!!!!

Here we go:

Here are a couple of before and after polls, placing LC's vote as being worth 2 (-2)
The minus 2 assumes that Quin is town. If Quin is scum, LC's vote was worth 2. If Quin is town, his vote was worth 0. Thus, 2 (with an optional -2 addition).

What actually happened:
DDL (-2 votes) - cbob, speedchuck, Quin, Epi, Nutella, LC = 5 or 3
Speedchuck - DH, Dom, SVS, DDL = 4

changed to

DDL (-2 votes) - cbob, speedchuck, Quin, Epi, Nutella = 3
Speedchuck - DH, Dom, SVS, DDL, LC = 6 or 4
What LC saw if he isn't scum with DDL:
DDL - cbob, speedchuck, Quin, Epi, Nutella, LC = 7 or 5
Speedchuck - DH, Dom, SVS, DDL = 4

changed to

DDL - cbob, speedchuck, Quin, Epi, Nutella = 5
Speedchuck - DH, Dom, SVS, DDL, LC = 6 or 4

I'm assuming DDL did not put -2 points on me, as scum or town.

. . .

Been staring at these polls for ten minutes. Some observations:

1. If Quin was scum with LC, and his vote was worth 2, LC changed the tide of the lynch. LC did so in a dangerous way, one that revealed that vote manipulations were taking place. He was also the most suspect vote in this case. That's a blow to LC/Quin.

2. If DDL was scum with LC, and Quin was town, then LC would have known what was most likely happening. He also would have seen that the guy with 4 votes (me) getting lynched over the guy with 6 votes (DDL) would have been very incriminating. So he might have vote hopped to avoid suspicion. His vote was probably worth zero anyway, and he might as well make the result look more legitimate. Also, the more he votes for townies, the more -1s he has to his vote. This would help explain how DDL avoided lynching the following day as well. LC is trying to make his vote into a train nullifier.

3. If neither are scum with LC, then LC's vote is most likely worth zero in his eyes. He may have switched his vote at the end to find out, just in case there are other scumteams. That's the only reason I can think of.

It's a difficult puzzle, but I'd say of these three, result 2 is most likely, followed by result 3. Much as I was just suspecting Quin, I don't think LC would have tried to change the tide of the lynch for no reason. LC/Quin is disproven in my book.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, the Nutella lynch on the following day:
DDL (-2 votes) - Epi, cbob, speedchuck, nutella, DH, LC = 4
nutella - Dom, DDL, SVS = 3

If Quin and I are both town, LC's vote was worth -1, two less than normal. If Quin is scum, it's worth 1. Soooo Quin is basically townfirmed. I don't know why we argued with this earlier. Quin and speechuck1 are both townfirms.

speedchuck wrote: Mon Mar 12, 2018 12:22 pm Regarding Quin being town:

Anything could have happened to result in the nutella lynch. Any kind of vote manipulations that could subtract 4 from the leading train. DDL was part of it, we know that. He took away two votes of the required four.
Long Con was on the DDL train. If his vote was worth -1 instead of 1, everything makes sense.
Sure, his vote could have been worth 1, with Quin being scum. And maybe another voter just happened to pop in and lower that vote by two somehow, though I would find it obscene. Those two things could have happened.

But I've been handed a concrete, role-based explanation for an outlandish lynch result on a silver platter. In any other game, we'd be screaming "HOW THE HECK DID THAT HAPPEN?" In this game, we have an explanation for the unlikely event. I'll look no further unless given reason.

It's like if you suddenly received a million dollars in your account. Then a rich dude contacts you and says that he did it, and shows you his bank receipt as proof. But you can't be SURE it was him, because the bank might have blocked the transfer and someone else might have done it. So you don't thank him.
That's what ignoring Quin's semi-townfirm status would be like.
I'm using Occam's razor. It is technically possible that there is another seemer-type role in this game and that LC was town, made to flip as scum. But I'm not going to throw away his flip because of that.

I didn't clear him due to my role. I cleared him due to maths.

Re: Pikachu Tribe - Day 7

I can't speak for the lynch thing.

The kills. No kills in this tribe until LC died. Why? If they could choose to kill in either tribe, why not choose this one at all?

Answer: Because they had two vote manipulators in this tribe, were confident in using the lynch to handle people until the merge, and instead nightkilled in the other thread. Now that LC is gone, and with him the advantage, SVS dies.

[VOTE: DDL] aubergine

Y'know what? The above theory is probably hogwash. I have no idea.

Re: Pikachu Tribe - Day 7

I have no idea.

Up until this point, I was certain that there was something screwy with the nightkills.

I'm developing a very biased theory. Gimme a minute.

S~V~S wrote: Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:03 am Chuck, you don't have to hit me over the head twice (although how fast you dropped Dom, in conjunction with LC's role, ugh, maybe I just hate being wrong) After your aggressive defense of LC, however, I am not sure I trust your gut. I feel the opposite of how Epi feels about me, about DDL. I think his posts sound bad, but there is that Mr Freeze thing; like DH said, why would a baddie stop his own kill? Unless they knew his role might be revealed, or some portion of it? The #32 hint was so vague I had to beat people up to look at it ha ha
Alright, so now that I can actually speak to my sort-of-meta:

As town, I am a poor scumhunter with spurts of absolute genius. You saw Buffy. The only time I suspected a scummer (aside from the one we lynched) was you, and you weren't scum yet. Occasionally, I hit genius. I did so in Phenon Origins, and also in Great Gatsby. But much of the time, I'm average-to-bad.
So not trusting my gut is A-OK.

Not to mention that Quin's activity has fallen off the past couple of days, both in post count and in content.

I'm not going to quote everything, but read the most recent page of his ISO.
I don't either.
I also don't like yours.
Justify.
I appreciate the comparison to Quin, since he's basically the towniest of firms. I had forgotten that at the time of this post.
I'm not justifying squat, though, unless you point me to the particular squat you want justified. And even then I'll probably just snark at you.
