Re: Cartomancy [Day 5]
well whatever I’ve said my piece I’m not wasting my Sunday writing posts that’ll be ignored.
Everyone should be naming off a team of 5, looking at the voting breakdown/wagon logically, and not just blindly following Lucy.
Now I’m not saying 100% Mac is mafia, but the fact nobody seems to be pushing that but me is sketchy, the fact also that 7 people are on SPF isn’t a good sign at all.
I’ll be back near end of day tomorrow and might do an iso or two, but we’ll see.

Re: Cartomancy [Day 5]
this is a pelt
i'm not a particularly influential player as everyone has seen, however the best attribute that i possess is my read accuracy and my tactical ability. i do and have FPSed successfully on many occasions and i've never fucked one up. the mech is lock. my reads are coming to fruition.
mafia has successfully powerwolfed the entire game and after today there will only be 2 mafia voices in the thread
we will find fellow townies and we will analyze spew
sorry it's taken so long everyone, you must trust me on this one and things will be go very well
everyone has to get on spf though
and i have a felling sig is outing right now because this is the last day where they aren't entirely ignored

Re: Cartomancy [Day 5]
The Death Card
The Death card is perhaps the most misunderstood card in the tarot deck. Death looks scary, so that's understandable. However, it most often does not mean literal death. It means a conclusion. There are other cards associated with the end of a chapter, a period, a relationship, or an endeavor. But Death is the only inevitable ending. When you get this card in a reading, it is unavoidable. Something in your life is coming to a close. That can be good or bad, depending on the thing and also depending on how tightly you are hanging on to it.
We have come to the inevitable end of this game. Broken host rules have put us in a position that we don't believe it is any longer possible for the mafia to win. And it is not a fair win for the town when rules have been broken to achieve it. So instead of a satisfactory ending, this will simply be an inevitable ending. The game is a draw.
Cartomancy Mafia has ended in a draw.

Re: Cartomancy [Game Over]
Mafia surely the better team and should win this 95%
But they probably could have all zero-posted after Day 3 and won because the town was that awful.
I'll take my share of the blame for stupidly getting modkilled (mostly an innocent mistake but still).
thanks for game Daisy. Ban the villagers!

Re: Cartomancy [Game Over]
A note from your host:
I understand that it is not the norm these days to have games in which you can't just dump the information you know. I know that is difficult for some players who aren't accustomed to it. I attempt to build my games with a variety of explanations for things which you may see occur. I do that because I don't like when mafia becomes more formulaic. I enjoy games with nuance that force players to use their intuition and to attempt to persuade other players of who they believe is bad. So when I create host rules, I do so in order to protect the integrity of such a game.
I don't think the setup was at all perfect. I shouldn't have allowed role claiming. I shouldn't have made the Oracle impervious to NK. Those were mistakes on my part and they honestly made the game extremely town sided as far as balance. I made other adjustments that I realized were problematic in game, all of the problems were also town sided in balance. So for the mafia to have done as well as they have, is a testament to just how good a game they played. When you play a game, pay attention to the host rules. They are there for a reason.
Finally, it is absolutely not in the spirit of the game to intentionally break these host rules in order to gain advantage from the punishment. This is not the first time I have seen this put forward as a valid tactic. So I want to be perfectly clear here, because I am putting this down to culture difference between sites. Do not ever do this in a Syndicate game. This is a major breach of our site's code of conduct. A host puts a lot of time and effort into designing and hosting their games. They create those rules to protect the integrity of the game balance. When you break them you are being incredibly disrespectful of that person's time and effort to host a game for your enjoyment. Don't do this. You are supposed to be playing against the other team, not against the host. And when you try to find loopholes in the game design to exploit you stopped playing against the opposing team and now are playing against the host. Don't do this here, just don't.
I don't believe anything that happened here happened maliciously. I fully believe that it was a case of someone not being accustomed to this style of game design and finding it difficult to know how to navigate that and also to a cultural difference. I am upset, yes. I have never had a game end like this before. I am not angry at anyone, however, because I don't believe it was done in bad faith. But I can't force the mafia to spend the rest of the game likely losing when they shouldn't have been in that position to begin with. I talked this over with them, and together we made the decision to end it in a draw.

Re: Cartomancy [Game Over]
Thanks everyone for playing this game.
I know the game ended in a draw, which while undesirable on some levels, seemed to be the best path forward based on what happened in the game.
While there were instances of rule-breaking that led to this, I want to make it clear that this is not the time to disparage other players because of that. There were misunderstandings on what was considered acceptable, and also mistakes due to unawareness as well as challenges with the setup. You do have the right to be frustrated, both at the outcome of the game, and what happened in the game to bring it there. If you do have any particular grievances please bring them to myself or another Admin, and if you choose to discuss them postgame, please do so with respect to your fellow players, Host, and community.
I will take this moment to remind everyone of our Cultural Expectations of Respect. Whether clear winners may or may not have been obvious, it is true that all alignments involved did play their hearts out and poured a lot of effort into this game. The Host did too. Please don't let that appreciation go wasted.

Re: Cartomancy [Game Over]
I polled the town to see if they felt the game should be called a draw or if they feel the mafia deserve to be credited with the win. The overwhelming response to that question was yes, the wolves deserve the win. So Cartomancy will not be called a draw, it will be credited as a mafia win.
Well played, wolves.
And town, thank you for playing despite what ended up being such a tumultuous game. Thank you lucy for trying to navigate what might have felt like a really difficult position to be in. I know you were put through a lot too, and I appreciate your effort.
