Oblique Strategies - an Eno Mafia [ENDGAME]
This will be a somewhat unusual, conceptual game of three teams lasting six days and six nights.
The teams start with no BTSC, but gradually gain it as the days progress. When a killer dies, the power does not pass to other team members.
Roles:
Gals - Only surviving members win
Cindy Tells Me - Can send an anonymous PM to one player each Night
Baby ’s On Fire - Kills Nightly
Judy’s Jungle - Role block
Julie With... - Protect
The Fat Lady of Limbourg - Gains BTSC with one teammate daily
Miss Shapiro - Can control one player’s vote
Fellas - Kill as many animals as you can - Team wins if has more surviving members than animals
St. Elmo’s Fire - Splits Ions in the Ether
Kurt’s Rejoinder - Retaliates against any night actions used against him.
Blank Frank - Kills nightly
The Great Pretender - A Seemer role
Third Uncle - Gains BTSC with one teammate daily
Energy Fools the Magician - Insanifier
Animals - Maintain an even balance between gals and fellas - Survival not necessary
Spider and I - Gains BTSC with one teammate daily
Sombre Reptiles - Add a lynch vote
Little Fishes - Subtract a lynch vote
The Camel - Sticks needles in your eye, making you vote blindly (randomly)
Mother Whale Eyeless - Team checks. Immune to the camel
An Arc of Doves - Protect
Locations:
Over Fire Island
In Dark Trees
By This River
Tiger Mountain
China My China
On Some Faraway Beach

Day 0
"How did we get here?"The group of eighteen people found themselves on a mist-shrouded plain, bereft of recognizable features. The memory of how they got there was even hazier than the atmosphere, are there was a distinct sense among some that they might be dreaming.
But dream or no, they could not just stand around aimlessly forever. Looking down, one of them notcied a six pointed compass etched into the floor, with each point labeled by a colorful, if enigmatic location name.
"Which way should we go?"
You have 24 hours to make decision.
Votes are changeable on night polls, but not in lynch votes.

@llama does anyone have any knowledge outside of thread knowledge on this poll?

Sometimes it will naturally come out, but it can be contained if we just remember that this is a game on a message board forum that 99.99% of the population of the Earth has never heard of before. No matter how successful anyone is, it means just about nothing.

Yessss, game!
So, from looking at the roles, it looks like there is a way for everyone to win.
What about this: We only lynch Animals. This would require that the Animals reveal their team. Blank Frank and Baby's on Fire refuse to use their NK. Then, after 6 days and nights, we are left with
6 Gals, who all instantly win, 6 Fellas, who all instantly win, and 6 dead Animals, who (due to the fact that members of their team can win while dead) instantly win also.
It's a win-win-win.

INH, that's a really interesting idea! Like BR said though, not sure whether everyone could agree to that.

Likewise
Where to go...
Over Fire Island - sounds hot and dangerous
In Dark Trees - I didn't bring my flashlight
By This River - sounds safe enough
Tiger Mountain - tigers are not friendly animals
China My China - I don't speak chinese and that sounds awfully far to walk
On Some Faraway Beach - as above, sounds like a long haul to get there

INH, that could certainly work, especially since team claiming is OK, but then we would have to believe claims, and everyone would have to agree to do it.
I am inclined to pick Fire Island, i am about 5 miles away from it. It's pretty in the winter, when it isn't swarming with greasy, shiny people sporting tans. I don't know about the Eno-related aspects of the choices.
Does "hack" = pretentious poseur?

The more I think about it, the more I believe it would be absolutely awesome if we could accomplish INH's plan.
I'm curious if anyone has any problems with it, but otherwise I think it would be best for at least one person to claim Animal so that we can lynch that person tomorrow.

Also, problem with the plan is that if even 1 non-animal accidentally dies (whether via lynch, nk, host event deedly, etc) then the animals can't win. Might make them reluctant to cooperate and out themselves.

Hello. I am your mod. If you get mad, talk to me first. If you want to talk bad about Eno, well, that's too bad, because it's against the rules, and I do not condone breaking rules. Fortunately, I'm not playing, so
I bet Eno never even got through the first grade with a name like his.
Ambient means "I am too lazy to properly learn an instrument. Here, listen to me holding down an E-flat note while adding effects."
The studio is no more an instrument than a kitchen is.
Is Brian Eno even progressive rock? Shouldn't he be in Prog Related?
I bet Eno isn't even a Libertarian.
Have fun everyone, but I seriously doubt you will.

Well, that's true, but the only one of those that is completely out of our collective control is a host event.triceratopzeuhl wrote:Also, problem with the plan is that if even 1 non-animal accidentally dies (whether via lynch, nk, host event deedly, etc) then the animals can't win. Other than that, as long as everyone agrees to it, it should be possible. And as long as no one wants to win at the exclusion of others, then I don't see why it would be against someone's self-interest to agree, even if they're an Animal.

Plus, as Eno is a self-proclaimed "non-musician", successfully implementing INH's plan so that every player can win seems like the perfect way to honor that sentiment in this game.

Re: Oblique Strategies - an Eno Mafia [DAY 0]
If we could make it work, I would be OK with it. But the killers would have to not kill, and we have no way of knowing that will happen until they ... don't kill. The vote manipulators should not use their powers either.
It seems almost TOO easy, but looking over the win cons, I don't see any reason it would not work; even down to team outing being specifically OKed by the host. Although it will be harder once teams start getting BTSC, and Trice makes a good point. Plus I just have an ingrained bias against outing, even if it is allowed
But a plan that allows everyone to win is an attractive one.
I am going to vote for Fire Island.

Re: Oblique Strategies - an Eno Mafia [DAY 0]
This is true, but whether they kill or not is uncontrollable, and one would think their chances of killing are MUCH less if the entire thread is in agreement on a plan for everyone to win that seems pretty possible. What motivation would there be to kill? Unless, like I said, one team wants to win at the exclusion of others, but that seems completely unnecessary.S~V~S wrote:If we could make it work, I would be OK with it.

I think, as long as everyone is OK with it, we try the plan, and only one Animal can then come forth and offer to be lynched.
What is there to lose, really?

You know, just to show how committed I am to this and how I really think it's the best option for everyone:
I am an Animal.
Feel free to lynch me on Day 1.
That way no one else has to team claim and we can see how this plan is going to play out. I'm willing to sacrifice my life in order to pursue this.

Re: Oblique Strategies - an Eno Mafia [DAY 0]
a non-mafia game for a non-musician
That would be oddly satisfying, and likely a very unique game. Truthfully, we can always abandon that strategy if an unexpected kill throws the plan off, so it hurts nothing to start off trying this out. Well, maybe it hurts whichever animals have offered themselves up for sacrifice to that point.
(also I like Eno and consider him a musician)

Well done Alex. No point agreeing with a plan then hiding. Kudos to you!MovingPictures07 wrote:You know, just to show how committed I am to this and how I really think it's the best option for everyone:

Now that I've team claimed truthfully, no other Animals need to needlessly put their lives on the line until Day 2, at the very least. But even still, I just don't see how anyone would oppose this.

Doen't matter what i think about Eno. Simple fact is Roxy Music with Eno is far better than Roxy Music without him.

Re: Oblique Strategies - an Eno Mafia [DAY 0]
It was difficult because I LOVE ENO and I REALLY want to play this game, but after discussing it and seeing others so far appear in agreement, I'm absolutely willing to do what it takes so that we can all enjoy a win here, and I'm happy with this.Snow Dog wrote:Well done Alex. I was going to wait a bit longer to make sure the plan had no holes and that everyone was OK with it, but then I realized there really isn't a point and that the only possible hole is something totally beyond our control (host event possibility). Only other way it could not work is sabotage. Thus, it actually made more sense for me to sacrifice my life for the cause right off the bat, so that all the Animals didn't team claim so early on, just in case someone decides to go against the plan.
As Trice said, I also believe, in addition to winning, it would be oddly satisfying to pull this off.
Pacifist mafia game ftw?

Pacifist mafia game would be a nice change from me antagonizing everybody like a paranoid schizophrenic.
