No one has an incentive to lie, though.
Like I said, assuming every player wants to win, the plan makes the most sense.

BUT for Day 1, this is as good a place as any to start.
What's wrong with it?
If anything, it's completely in the spirit of the game, and I'm certain it's a scenario Llama considered.
To everyone not wanting to use this strategy, because it would be "ruining Llama's game", you need to step back and read the rules. He clearly wrote the roles and rules around the idea that everyone could win if they were honest and put faith in other people.
THE POINT OF THIS GAME IS TO SEE IF WE CAN ALL UNITE AND TRUST EACH OTHER.
I think it's quite genius. It turns the conventions of mafia based on distrust and deceit on it's head.
Can we as a group, as a community unite so that everyone can win? Or will our selfishness and distrust turn us to sabotage and ruin?
This game is surprisingly philosophical in a way that I've never seen before in a mafia game.
This is a dynamite fucking idea as far as games go, and I wished I would have thought of it first.

The mainstream way would be to play this game as mafia games are typically played.
We're doing Brian Eno justice if we can actually accomplish this win in an unconventional, non-musician-esque fashion.

Oblique Strategies - an Eno Mafia. A game where everyone can win if they completely set aside all familiar notions of how to play mafia. A game where everyone can win if they just trust other people.
This is the most anti-status quo game I've ever played, and is probably one of my favorite concepts for mafia ever.

To emphasize an important point, MP offering himself for lynch means that he only has a chance of achieving win conditions if he is an animal. So there is literally no reason for him to sacrifice himself if he is not an animal, ergo I think it's safe to assume MP is an animal. (well maybe if he got bored of the game only 1 day in and wants out...)

Has anyone ever seen that movie "The Box"? It's not that great, but it had some ideas that I found really interesting. In the movie, a couple is sent a box with a big red button. If they press the button, they receive one million dollars, but someone that they don't know dies. It turns out *SPOILERS* that the box is sent by omniscient force to see if humanity is worth saving. If a certain amount of people push the button after 24 hours, then the "force" will declare humanity as "hopeless" and destroy the world.
That's what this game reminds me of. If we as a group, as a community can trust each other and put our faith in each other, and still win the game, I'd consider it not only another banner for my signature, but as a philosophical win.
Just this once, optimism can beat out cynicism, and everyone wins.

I'm an ordinary man, Metalmarsh, meat and potatoes, I live in the real world. I'm not a big believer in magic. But this game is different. It's special. The others don't want to talk about it because it scares them. But we all know it. We all feel it. Is this dream of harmony impossible? Probably. But what if everything that happened here, happened for a reason? What if we can all win? Even if it is impossible, let's say it's not… I don't know. But I've looked into the eyes of Llama. And what I saw was beautiful.Metalmarsh89 wrote:I'm not gonna stand around and wait for this reason to show up. Let us not forget that regardless of my intentions, there is a 33% chance that I am the exact player you need lynched. Or more accurately 29% if we assume that MP is an animal.
And again, this beautiful llama you see in your dreams is not a reality. Read the Day 1 post. Your strategy is in big trouble if a player or two are modkilled.

I definitely want to see if we can pull off what would be one of the great games of mafia - everyone wins. I don't understand why there are people who don't want to at least try to make this philosophy work. Hopefully they are not the ones with night kills. I'm voting MP because I support the idea we can all trust each other and all come out on the winning side.

I don't blame anyone fro deviating from the plan. I voted with the group, because let's try it, and there's rarely a better plan this early on anyway. My skepticism remains, but I'd rather leave that door open just in case.
I had been such a Nervous Horse about my hearings for over a week, but I had them this morning and they went swimmingly.
Yesterday I feel into a full bathtub with all my clothes on, so what a difference a day makes.

I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just expressing my lack of understanding for why anyone wouldn't want to at least try this. There could be very good reasons, I just don't know what they are. I would be happy if I could understand. Anyway, since I have bought into this plan if it works with this first try I won't be voting for anyone who doesn't say they're an animal so it's not like I would vote for someone who would disagree with the plan.

And again, this beautiful llama you see in your dreams is not a reality. Read the Day 1 post. Your strategy is in big trouble if a player or two are modkilled.![]()
That's not a risk I'm willing to take. The Animal Sanctuary Squad should agree with this.
What I meant here was that if INH is a fella, he won't care if the plan fails. If it works, yay, we all win. If it doesn't, yet for the fellas, some animals are dead. Volunteering for the slaughter, yet. So if he is a fella, he would not care if his strategy works or not.

Your post in response to the quote you included sounded like you were talking about the inactive players. I didn't realize you were talking about INH.

The answer: all of them, if you are a marmot.

Re: Oblique Strategies - an Eno Mafia [DAY 1]
Night 1
And so it was that MovingPictures07 nobly offered himself up for the good of the group. Offering nary a movement of resistance, he allowed his body to be hoisted up and hurled downward towards the rocky coast of Fire Island. No one could bear to look as his body broke on the stones below.“It’s wrong to kill animals unless you eat them,” tutted Vompatti, shaking his head sadly.
“This is depressing,” said MetalMarsh89. “Let’s go somewhere else.”
MovingPictures07 has been lynched. He was Sombre Reptiles.
It is now Night 1. You have 24 hours to send in your Night Actions, and to decide where to go next.

OK, I think that "winning" by not sending in night actions and volunteering to be lynched is not really *winning*, or even playing, tbh. If i wanted to trust y'all, I would not be playing Mafia.
So I am gonna say I am an animal, and volunteer to be the next sacrifice.

I picked Tiger Mountains.
For the animals.
Speaking of Animal Sanctuary Squad -- where the heck are you? Is it just me? And Vomps, who has been extra hilarious this game, btw.
