Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
I'm leaning away from chopping nutella today.
I also refuse to chop Syn, SVS, Sean, and LC.
I'm disinclined to vote Dizzy, Thunal, or Epi. They're townleans but not srong ones atm.
This leaves me at falcon, Scotty, and Rico. I'm also not a fan of voting Rico because chopping a player with one post will give us very little to work with, regardless of alignment.

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
For the record, my initial reaction to Nutella’s handling of LC’s claim was an annoyed wolf, but I’m not sure how often nutella throws out AtE ‘game throwing’ comments as either alignment here. Since everyone else seems to be seeing it as a frustrated town, I’ll just shrug and move on.
Marmot’s reaction seems to be just passing the buck. So does Syn, but Syn is doing it in such a way that I think he actually believes in his reads. Marmot last I heard had a working theory that it was just Scotty/LC, or else LC wasn’t a part of my team. Well, if LC is telling the truth here, Marmot should find an easy mark in me, no?
But I’m one of like 5 names, and I think he’s just happy to vote someone with the crowd

To my knowledge, Epi has not answered your question.
Why are you not following up? You said...something....regarding why you didn't follow up with me (I don't believe your answer btw), but why not follow up w/ the player who hasn't answered?
Perhaps he has, & I missed it...but I don't believe so, I'm in his ISO right now

That's not where I expected to be at this moment. I had LC, nutella and scotty there last night when I went to bed. LC is locktown now. Scotty is probably town. Nutella is still kinda poe but probably town as well.
I don't have time to redeliberate. But also I'm probably going to die today so it might not even matter, but it's for the best because I'll be pretty afk day 2 anyway

You've got 9 posts left...this one hardly seems like a wise choice, given that you've said you want to be around for EOD (will be back to vote & things later), and especially as it's somewhat ambiguous
I don't want you to use a post responding to this one btw

I wasn’t trying to be snarky, and I’m sorry if I came across this way. I am somewhat disappointed that you seem to be resorting to low posters on Day One, a busy day one that has had a lot of discussion.
You pinged me early and nothing you’ve done since has made me feel better

I always try to do better, and I will be sorry if I’m wrong. You’re a person, not a “slot” imo, but I think what I think.

To put it simply, they're both kinda polarized players, and aren't in their wolf meta.
To put it more eloquently:
Sean has had a little bit of bite in his pressure (particularly on me) in this game. That's townie for him. He's made observations that look fairly believable to me. Probably the one knock on him that could be wolfy is that his signals of who he might vote seems performative, but I'm not putting much stock in that because of the locked votes mechanic in the game. Talking about votes == placing a pressure vote in this game.
Syn often plays like a background player, being overly critical of things that catches his eye, generally not engaging players in extended discourse, but rather watching stating the things as they come. He's making reads that are not necessarily consensus. These are things that are somewhat townie for players in general, as they focus more on game-solving rather than trying to appear townie. I think they're particularly true for Syn because my (probably obsolete) meta expectation of him as a wolf is that he's extremely stilted and has trouble saying things in a way that looks like he believes them. If someone has different experience with w!Syn, or one that's more recent than 2020, I would love to hear it.
---------
But tbh, I'm not interested in chopping anyone in that list of 4 towncore I mentioned, so I'm not really into talking about them beyond this unless they become a viable wagon.
Do you have any opinions/preferences on Dizzy/Thunal/Epi?

I had Nutella low then because of the pings I talked about and also because it pinged me that she suspected LC because his reads were nonsensical. I don't think she'd actively call Brad throwing and be annoyed about a potential town loss as a wolf though.

We have 4 votes in non consensus places (including Falcons). That leaves 8 of us left to vote(and Rico has been AFK) .
For me, the three people that have votes already are off the table. Dizzy and Thunal are off the table for me since I’m townreading them both in addition to agreeing with LC.
I also town read Scotty and Syn.
That leaves my personal voting pool at Epi, Falcon, Marmot, Nutella and Rico.
I think Falcons belief that making more emotionally accurate posts by using qualifying words (for a tone reader like me) is wolfy is a bit old fashioned, but I don’t shade him for suspecting me for it. I’d rather not vote for him and I’d rather not vote for Rico since the only rationale for that would be low poster.
I think Nutella’s reaction was more frustrated than Wolfy. I also think Marmots bad and don’t see them and Nutella bad together.
That leaves, for me, Marmot and Epi. I’d prefer Marmot, but I really don’t want to spread votes too much do will consider others. I will have to vote half hour or so before EOD as I’ll be driving home when the poll ends.
I am in my late 60's

I have mixed feelings on him. I was worried about how hard he was going on Marmot, but I feel like he'd have more of a plan as a wolf. If Marmot is a wolf, I don't think Dizzy would bus him like this. If Marmot is town, it's such a clear trajectory from Marmot flips town > Dizzy gets suspected that I don't feel like Dizzy would think it's a good strategy.

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
Like I said, this was not my intention, but my POE which I thought was reasonable 12 hours ago was blown to pieces after the nutella/LC discourse, and I haven't had time to piece together a new one.S~V~S wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 11:14 amI wasn’t trying to be snarky, and I’m sorry if I came across this way. I was publicly sorting where I was at in that moment, and it happened to be that falcon/Rico were left in it. It might look bad in a vacuum to you, but it's just me showing my work of where I was at. My reads don't exist in a vacuum though, they've progressed throughout this whole day.
Anyway.
I'm obviously wrong somewhere and am trying to figure out where. Or I would if I had the time and the posts for it. Also, despite my previous disinclination to not vote Epi/Thunal/Dizzy, they've fallen into my POE because they're next on my list. I'm removing falcon for now because I think his recent posts are fairly townie.
@Seanzie not really a fan of chopping a 1-poster under the circumstances. I'd rather wait for a) him to post b) him to be modkilled c) him to be replaced.

My Epi read is more absence of towniness than overt baddieness. All the people I said I would rather not vote for, I had reason to think they’re town. I also am not sure I buy the “oops I didn’t know votes were locked”,since he DID know about post caps. Whereas I think you really didn’t know when you voted. It seems more in character for you than for Epi. I’m not sure I buy that he believes what he says.
Syn just seems solvey and is engaging, asking questions and paying attention to the answers, it’s my experience when baddies ask questions, they don’t necessarily pay attrntion to the answers enough to follow up, so I’m TRing Syn more for general towniness as I see it than for meta specific to him. I don’t have as much experience with Syn as I do with most everyone else in here.

Can you take a look at what I've said about Syn re: his questions to myself & Epi?

Back to this.
Being blunt is strategic both for reactions in thread, and for myself, because I typically can't make my mind up and doubt myself a lot. Which is what has made playing town way less enjoyable for me. So I was trying not to do that. Am doing that anyway, and so it goes.
I really don't think I've been mean tbh. I hope not.
Why does this tone that you're not "used to" mean that I'm mafia to you? I actually do believe that my tone is quite alignment indicative. I've never been one to be blunt and sharp as wolf. My abilities there lies elsewhere.

Fuck. I need to go. Will follow on phone as best as I can.
Lime is town.
I do think Nut's reaction to that whole thing is more towny than not.
I think SVS is town for a few reasons, especially I buy her thoughts on me.
I'm on Marmot town now. The reaction to Scotty voting them felt natural. And also the general confusion about the game state and where he's at.
Falcon's takes are bad imo, not sure if wolfy. I don't know how to read Falcon tbh, but I don't really feel it.
Epig's only real take is that I'm wolf because I'm not how he's used to. I guess it makes sense that I'm not how he's used to, but why that is wolf, I don't get. Neutral on Epig otherwise.
Rico hasn't done anything
Scotty ...doesn't look wolfy to me.
Sean ...probably more in town meta, but maybe I'm giving him too little respect.
Thunal ...I actually think the musings and not many hard stances is more town for Thunal
Syn ...is reasonable, but I don't know if that is enough to be town.
This is why I stopped playing mafia tbh
I'd probably vote Rico or someone make a good case and convince me of someone.

This is kind of annoying with the fact that were spreading out votes and most of them are wagons I don't prefer currently.
But we gotta just start consolidating eventually.

Still catching up, but we absolutely need to consolidate votes better than this. From now on I think we should make pretend votes like we did in Grasslands before we lay down our actual votes.

The thing is that voting early is bad for mafia as well as for town, so I don't really think mafia would make an early vote on purpose.S~V~S wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 6:07 pmOK, so like nothing they say makes sense? That's the feel I got from reading on and running into your thoughts on LC.
My general feel for him was OK, but I'll read him in ISO. BUT ....
And in retrospect, doing this kind of thing, placing a vanity vote (intentional or accidental) could be a way for baddies to manipulate the poll. With only 12 players, and locked votes, three non copnsensus votes is already limiting our options.
I hadn't thought of that earlier. I still think it looks NAI mostly for Falcon most of the three. Lc and Epis vote look less benign to me than they did.

I'm a bit paranoid that Falcon scumreads LC here but doesn't want his vote to be locked on him. When I've seen Falcon he doesn't change his vote often and usually keeps his scumreads for awhile, so I think t!Falcon might not mind his vote being locked.

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
There was a period of time where he didn't make his read on Marmot clear, which could have to do with your 180 but it's also possible he's town who reevaluted becuause he cared about your input.Seanzie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 8:47 pmMy worry is that Dizzy seemed to uncomfortably partially-pivot on Marmot after I full 180'd on Marmot. Scum!Dizzy could have been hoping I would tunnel Marmot and then I would take the fall for a town!Marmot flip, and then had to pivot when that wasn't going to happen any more. I know, this read is very me-centric, but I am kinda so good at this game that Carly Simon wrote a song about me.Thunal33 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 5:44 pm Dizzy might be town actually. I was worried about him thinking people townreading Marmot was bad, but if he's wolf I'm not sure if he'd go that hard on a w!Marmot. I don't think it's a bus, and if Marmot flips town people will naturally look to Dizzy to suspect first. There's not really a need to go that hard this early.

I'm not feeling Epi mafia anymore. I caught him from spec in that game where he was wolf with Delta and he felt different there. Here it feels like he's throwing out takes while there it felt like he had a clear agenda.

Re: The Emperor's Soul [D1]
Hi I'm back for 3 posts.
I hold that it was absolutely suboptimal for Lime to claim under those circumstances and I wish it hadn't happened and I do think it is a pretty mechanically shitty situation we're in now. And I still wish he had played differently before then. I had no reason to accept his entitlement to being townread and I'll defend that position. That said I apologize for my outbursts and will be putting the issue fully to bed now in favor of attempting to solve the wolves.
It could be marmot. I don't love their reactions/progressions. On the other hand they kinda seem organic.
I did not love Epi's posturing during the shit fest either. Felt like he was bullying me, possibly from a position of TMI on Lime.
I do not know why Dizzy and SVS are being dismissed. They are both well within their scum ranges and I'd prefer if more people seriously scrutinized them rather than tossing their names to the side for no apparent reason. It would kind of be an elim out of fear but it kinda feels like the alternative is shrugyeeting the 1 poster.
Thunal, Seanzie, and Scotty I would say are townreads atm with some paranoia. Thunal maybe slightly more likely wolf meta than the other two.
I don't see myself ever voting for Syn or Falcon. (I mean, obviously I can't vote anymore today, but in the foreseeable future of the game.) I'm at close to betting the game levels on all our Canadian fellas being town.
So my preferences are something like
One of Dizzy/Epi - I would like to see these flips the most. I kind of think they are as close as we have to a Macdougall patented difference check. If there isn't a wolf in Dizzy/Epi then I recuse myself from having any grasp on this whole damn game lol. Maybe there isn't much basis for that but vibes.
And from posts in this catchup I'm leaning more to Epi now than Dizzy. Idk.
-----
SVS - I am paranoid but do not have a direct reason to want to flip first. If the above two are clean she's where I'd look next, mostly by POE, but at that point I get more paranoid of my paranoia tier too.
Rico - Coin fuckin flip idc. The back of my head is invoking the "did he just forget about the game and is that more likely town" but that's somewhat angley and not much worth weighing in.
Marmot - Meh?
-----
Everyone else I'd prefer not to die today probably.
.....Shit idk. Maybe I'm not as sure on falcon. Maybe the wolves are just all in my paranoia tier. I feel likely to 180 on just about anyone at any point. I hate this game.

This still stands btw, I don't want anyone in these 4 yeeted.
HOPEFULLY it means everyone that hasn't voted can figure out a vote target that we all agree on.
My best bet though, as sad as it is, I'm decently sure like 1 or both maf members haven't voted yet, which kinda kills that chance.
Only have a few more posts so hopefully things go right.

I don't think she'd go as far as she did though. The town loss thing felt a lot easier to tell the truth about than to lie about and I feel like you might pick up on that.Marmot wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 3:05 amThis looks like one of those posts that wolves make when they're annoyed about their push claiming PR. It's not Lime's fault if other people misread him. Sure he has some influence on it, but it's our read in the end.

I don't think it's obvious at all tbh, you acknowledged Sean's explanation of his townread, but still listed me as your probable vote for the day in your very next post.
Also, why did you just now change your mind about me? My flip on Scotty is probably my least explained read in the thread, and you think it's townier than all of the other wolfy things I've done? I don't get it.
