Scotty seems to be having wifi or phone issues, so I'm posting his post.

Coach Scotty treaded slowly through the facility, careful to step over dismembered body parts and pools of blood. Even though this was just a game in a text-based forum and none of this was real whatsoever, he felt sad.

He searched for what felt like half and hour around the building, looking for signs of life. Eventually, he pried open the door to the locker room to find SVS slouched over a bench, polishing what looked like a makeshift statue made of macaroni and sticks. When she saw Scotty enter, she smiled wanly. He sat down next to her and let the silence wash over them.

She spoke up first after a time. "Found this in one of the lockers of one of the dead. It's...it's almost like the same thing as the championship trophy."

"Yeah. I guess," Scotty shrugged. "If a six-year-old tried to draw it from memory."
They sat in silence again, and eventually SVS piped up. "You know, when they said there would only be one winner in the tournament, I didn't think someone would take that literally."

The Cindy Kates, over the course of a month in an intense training period through deserts, tunnels, carnivals, wastelands, and karaoke bars, took more than it gave in the end. Whereas other, more cogent organizations could field a full team, somehow multiple secret factions worked successfully to upend the integrity of Mafiasportsball at its core through squabbling and distrust.

"You know, SVS," Scotty puttered, standing. "Maybe next year they can increase our budget. I'd like to sign a free agent, like Benicio Del Toro or Paul Rudd. Maybe that's what we were missing the whole time- I mean, who would want to kill Paul Rudd?"
SVS squinted and looked at him quizzically. "Hollywood actors? Do they even play Mafiasportsball?"
Scotty's eyes widened. "I don't know. But a boy can dream. Isn't that what Mafiasportsball is all about? A dream, a little ingenuity, and some damned good acting?"

That got a chuckle out of her- enough that she eventually got up an threw the shitty macaroni sculpture in the trash. Scotty, beaming, put on his cape and ran out of the locker room Naruto-style. SVS got to the door, took one look back, and said to herself. "You were all winners to me, and you always will be. Even those of you that betrayed others. I'm proud of you all."

With that, she flicked the lights off, and left the facility behind to gather dust. Until next time.

Severance

It had been a long week, and WindwardAway was glad to be back home,

even if only for an hour or so. She had enjoyed her last assignment at Lumon Industries so much, she had remained her self, a human being, and her motives were clean, even though that had not ended as she would have wished. It also had paid well. She entered her home, turned on the music and flew up the steps.

This time around, the whole form business was a bit gross to her, if truth be told. She was fastidious and preferred a clean, airy aesthetic and all the legs, it was too much. She was looking forward to a successful conclusion, and the sooner the better. She had enjoyed her team, though, and missed them, but still was looking forward to getting back to work. She had just needed to duck back home to make sure she had her ID card, even though she wasn't sure it would work in her current form.

She went out onto the roof, faced into the wind, took off and raced across the sky. She came to a landing near her final destination. Just as she did so, a large plastic square came from the sky, with a resounding "swat" and smushed her flat.

Will update with pertinent info in due course but here’s my thoughts:

I want to iterate that WindwardAway fought her ass off this game, and seemingly against all odds, almost managed a win. Even though her team didn’t win, they were probably the most active participants behind the scenes- with Rico and lemon constantly working out their strategies, it was a pleasure to follow.

And I just acknowledge DrWilgy, who was without a partner for 4 whole days before succumbing to a yeet at end game also fought hard despite serious feelings of feeling like things were a bit too steep of a climb to overcome.

Every player had a fighting chance to win for their team- town had many chances to push their team ahead for advantage, and there was a lot of great play on both sides this game, which I find very fulfilling as a host. When players are participating and trying to win, that’s all I can really ask.

Many thanks to SVS along this journey, who was very adamant about the no-info-dumping rule, which I think alters gameplay in such a unique way to allow the players to shine and not rely the mech. I also don’t have any experience with multiball, and she was very integral in keeping that balanced.

Amazing performance, WWA, thanks for playing to bring it for us, against literally all odds, till the very last minute. I heavily enjoyed the teamwork, Arbiters were respected and respectable throughout and I take some final pride in that alone.

Thank you hosts for the game, real shame about the game proving a soft lock for wolves, but I'm certain you've tried your best and weathered the worst.
