I believe Ricochet was being deceptive in his Day 0 questions. I think he was pretending to be clueless. He is not clueless. He is very smart. Ricochet, Turnip Head, spacedaisy, and FZ.
Turnip Head? TH has been boring beyond belief. Also I think he is tied to another player.
spacedaisy voted Day 0 and didn't say why. I think spacedaisy is bad with FZ. FZ. also has been absent. I think these two are unsure of what to say.

I get Ricochet and agree. I get TH and haven't landed anywhere yet myself on it. I get SD and to a lesser extent FZ, but would have to question how those 2 make the list and MM, Snowman, DP, Ace, and Boomslang don't when SD (and sort of FZ) are probably being placed on the list for the same reasons.
So, that makes me think either MM, Snowman, DP, Ace, and Boomslang are being left off because Epi is bad (or I suppose could have civvie BTSC since in this game it looks like we're just starting with 2 baddies and 2 civvies having BTSC) and one of them is his BTSC teammate, Epi could be any alignment (I'd still be leaning bad) and wants to lynch Rico or TH but just threw SD and FZ onto his list to round it out, or Epi reached putting SD and FZ on his list in a different way than I did that didn't allow for the extra 4 I have to also be on his.
That stopped seeming like a question for Epi at some point... but anyways Epi, thoughts?
Also, I notice your post above, how it started as a question to Epi, but stopped being a question. I also noticed this other post from you directed at Epi. I see quite a resemblance.

No, I was questioning it. Either he got 4 of the same people using the same reasons I did, but cut a bunch of other ones the reasons those 4 are worth mentioning for reasons I don't understand, or he reached 4 of the same people I did in a different way and I wanted to know why.
Nah, mine wasn't intentional. It was the paragraph of considering the possible alignments that threw me off having the question asked how I had initially wanted to, but that bit became more important than the actual question.

No, I got bogged down dealing with some mod related stuff which tbh is more important to me anyway, and had to vote quickly before I left. I wasn't even caught up since the last time I posted actually, I had already expressed that I liked both normal and light/l and just decided to cast a vote for the second because I was ok with either and decided to even it up a little more. I'm catching up on the last seven pages right now...boo wrote:Oh, a potential 3/9 actually, since spacedaisy voted without actually posting, but maybe her post got eaten or something.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 1]
Epi this doesn't make sense to me. I said quite a bit in my analysis of the options earlier in the day and explained where I was leaning. I just didn't say it at the moment of my vote because I was in a rush at that time. Had I been caught up maybe my vote would have been different, I don't know. Probably not because I still liked the idea of trying out something new. I didn't say as much as you did, no. Because I was busy playing mod this morning/afternoon and I wasn't in a pissing contest with DH like you were. I can understand your suspicion, but your reasoning for including me on the short list seems hollow to me.Epignosis wrote:I believe Ricochet was being deceptive in his Day 0 questions. Epi, how do you know that the other, non-Kira members of the baddie teams cannot become new Kiras if they get their hands on a Death Note? To me, it seems safer to get rid of them all, but I agree that exterminating the Kiras first would be optimal.

Sorry, I'm just not in the mood to play, and at this point, the only reason I'm playing is not to disappoint MP. And this is a shitty reason for thinking I'm bad.
You are right about me not knowing what to say, though. With my lack of enthusiasm and the posting diarrhea that's been going on here, all I'm reading is DH blah Epi blah blah etc'. There is only one person making sense to me at this point.
I'm not familiar with the theme of this game, and did not thoroughly look at the list of roles, just saw a lot of secrets and figured not much point.
At this point, I think the discussion going on is hindering real baddie hunting because I can't keep up.

Yes, Epi and DH tend to be quite talkative and combative, and they will continue to be that way until one or both of them is hanged or maimed. It has always been this way, and it will forever be this way, going on and on and on. If you think of it purely as entertainment, it's not any more offensive than Jersey Shore.

Playing catch up again. Will post thoughts on the whole Boo/DH/Llama/Epi when I get to the end of it (1 page to go) - but first
2) You know Made, I didn't really put a lot of stock in it when I first read that post. But now that you bring it up, it does kinda look like someone was perhaps given info ("snatched the lynch vote from the player currently holding it.") - It also looks like maybe the lynch note may come back at some point. Definitely something to keep an eye out for though! Good job!

That said, yea. While the start of the day phase has been very talkative, it seems like DH is being DH, Llama is being Llama, Epi is being Epi. I am curious though Epi if beer was involved in your posting tonight. I this read felt like "drunk Epi that I would prolly get into another argument with if I were drinking too even if we actually agreed on things.

I actually find myself agreeing with lots of what Boo has to say. His posts read like the sound voice of reason to me in lots of respects. Though his thought process is usually one I find agreeable so dunno that says much more than boo is being boo too.
Not sure what to make of Zomberella or Ricocheet yet. (I will find cutesy nicknames - give me time. We already have a zombies and a rico...) They are newish to the game and new to me. I don't want to pass judgment on them on D1 before I've had a chance to see them play. Welcome to the games and TS btw. I'm sorry I'm so late at getting the hello to you.
FZ - I know the back and forth was hard to push through for you, but you said the back and forth felt like it was distracting from baddie hunting. Do you think they are both civs or might one of them have a point? Who would you like to look at today? You've got a pretty sharp eye when you are in your civ game, I would love to hear your thoughts.

sorry, quick snip here

I did notice in a non-game discussions thread that you use the nickname Rico for a different player (Enrique), but since he's not playing here and most players so far have used the nickname (well, except some I'm making first contact with in this game, like DH, boo, and others who prefer not to nick me, like Epignosis), my friendly advice would be to use it as well. Ricochet is fine, otherwise, too.bea wrote:

And I totally agree with the Tarzan Theorem re DH & Epi. Alpha male chest pounding and circling and swaggering.
That said, mystery win conditions, potential future BTS based on the role descriptions, and a Kira with a possible death note don't sound like a civvie group, Epi.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 1]
Starting to wonder, personally, if this game is too much to cope with. I'm glad to see some interpret this as me actually being very smart, but nah. Slow reader, slow at processing, slow at replying - that's me atm. I slept through most of the D1 discussion, so far, and I barely managed to finish reading the three (3!) new stuffed pages before finishing my breakfast, let alone interpret them or have to reply. This is a whole different level than the Film game I'm playing and I may have picked the wrong game to try to do that - and I currently have to juggle both, too. Of course, I've been sucked in by the theme and its design, but since I'm currently (partially) being hunted for having done too much theme-based speculation, welp, there goes my mood, too.

If I would have to make some ironic remarks to some of the charges, they would be thus:
The player who accuses me of pondering too much on my voting option and being tactical about it (even if I was consistent in deciding to reflect more on it, but he's not the kind of player to care for such details, anyway) is someone who started the game by saying he'll wait for more opinions, waited a whooping 13 minutes, then simply voted for what he wanted anyway (or went along with DH's explanations), only for the rest of D0 to have more and more doubts, especially after hearing reasonings from boo, SVS or Epignosis.
The player who accused me of extravagant speculation has just opened a new line of speculation about secret win conditions and alignments.
On a more serious note, here's pretty much everything* that I have to say on what people are bringing out about me (*everything as in, if you won't find anything reasonable in it or it won't change your mind, then consider my defence concluded as well, because I've wasted time, neurons and temper before trying to reason and defend, without leading anywhere):
I decided to vote for the Normal-type option as much as I decided not to stick with the L/Light-type option after all, because I did not manage to build a satisfying reasoning (especially in the context of the extensive reasonings done by many others) to support my belief that L/Light would work and also because much of the counter-reasoning (boo, Epi) made me reconsider. Voting for the L/Light-type would, thus, not have been too well-argumented from me, nor would I have been able to vouch that the downsides of that voting option would be minor.
The issues players are having with the theme speculations I've done lies, I believe, in a difference of attitude towards playing this game. This is quite the second game in which I am disheartened to see that as soon as game properly starts, the theme is ditched and the rabid pure mafia-gaming is all that matters, but maybe I still have to adapt to that. Picture Llama and me on the complete opposite sides of the spectrum: he wants only facts, evidence and strict gaming. I still truly believe that a key to understanding the plethora of secrets (especially along the way when actions might happen and we all might be left wondering what the hell happened) will be to relate to the theme/story/character traits; that made it easy for me to assume L/Watari BTSC is certain to happen, even though I did realize I made a logical leap and apologized for it. DH's arrived to the conclusion the better, non-speculative way, whilst my view, even if it doesn't differ much, is now being seen as dishonest.
---
I don't believe that the Normal-type option is purely civilianesque and the L/Light-type purely anti-civilianesque. That makes me currently wary of everyone who is trying to antagonize the other side of voters. That leads me to Trice the most, because all he's done on D0 is show zero tolerance for the L/Light option, try to push the tactic on hunting down the L/Light voters once we start D1 business, ride on the coattails of Epignosis and boo all day long without saying much himself.
Aware of Turnip Head's on-off game and watching him closely myself.
I'd be inclined to add Epignosis on my list too for starting his own speculation game after shooting down the one played by others (and intending to lynch them for it, too), plus being (or pretending to be) oblivious to the fact that Spacedaisy was in fact among the people who made an analysis of all the vote types, so her vote is actually supported by her preferences, not at all unaccounted. But I'm not fully sure how serious these charges are to be regarded.
As for more suspicious D0 voters: Bass (simple hello, then simple vote for Normal, towards the end of the D0 show), Snowman (popcorn reactions to the D0 game, votes for an odd option, then has to be begged a bit to reason his option) and DisgruntledPorcupine (very late odd option, no reasoning). MM sort of saved himself along the way, because he started poorly by voting early and for a jokey reason, more jokey reactions to what happened along and only late in the day starting to question or reply to some discussion or theories.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 1]
I'd rather not be called Chet, because given the way the "ch" is actually pronounced in Ricochet, it's one letter away from Shit (even if that perfectly describes my level of gaming right now).
Also, bea, it's past noon here right now, so that's why.

Zombra is good too! and Chet seems to be the winner then! ( I read Chet in my head as Shay btw)S~V~S wrote:I have been calling Zomberella Zomba. And yeah, Rico Suave! So I do like Chet.
And I totally agree with the Tarzan Theorem re DH & Epi. Alpha male chest pounding and circling and swaggering.
That said, mystery win conditions, potential future BTS based on the role descriptions, and a Kira with a possible death note don't sound like a civvie group, Epi.
And yes SVS - I agree with you and boo about all that. Not sure if you are on to something or if Epi is just being stubborn to be stubborn.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 1]
I don't necessarily think Epi is bad, quite the opposite at this point~ lots of what he says makes total civ sense to me, and it is too early to tell with all the chest beating going on. But I am somewhat wary of him not so much for drawing a conclusion re The Yotsuba, as for being so adamant that anyone drawing a different conclusion is so very obviously incorrect. I thought the status of that group was rather vague, and open to interpretation. They are led by a Kira, start with not-necessarily-BTS just like the clearly labeled baddies, and have those ??? win conditions. They COULD be a loosely connected Indy team, or they COULD be a ninja assassin squad or, knowing MP, almost anything.
Plus that whole discussion last night, what I saw was this:

I think I am going to reread a few people later, in isolation from the Testosterone bath.
@Ricochet (won't call you Chet since you don't want to be called that), generally the theme is secondary to the Mafia. Otherwise people who were unfamiliar with the theme would not play, or would be unable to follow if they did. There is still lots of theme to go around, but you don't NEED to know it in order to effectively play. That can be a bummer if you are way into the theme, but sometimes it does transcend and you get the real feel of the theme. The Harry Potter game here was like that. Although that could be because HP is a theme with which most people are familiar. That said, lots of hosts work theme appropriate mechanics into their games, and MP is one of them. So your speculations could be spot on. I think it was a reasonable thought re BTS, and one I also considered and I don't know anything about the theme. L/Light seem to be point/counterpoint in the set up, so I could see them having parallels.
Also, I used to think Llama was bad ALL THE TIME for his ideas about how the game should be played. His tendency to wade in, see something that pings him, grab it and not let go EVER doesn't always help. Maybe it is seeing more of you, but so far, you are not on my reread list.
i am not seeing the Snowman thing as you are. Sometimes when people are putting on a good show, you have to grab the popcorn & watch. Plus this was a VERY unusual Day 0; generally Day 0 is a full day of that sort of thing. That would apply to bass & DH as well. MM is a hard one for me, he always seems to misconstrue what people say to the point that it seems intentional. So not sure there.
I think if Daisy was bad, she would have said something when she voted. I can see brisk civ Daisy being busy and thinking, I laid out my reasoning earlier, gotta vote; then voting and running. Bad Daisy would have been more worried about appearances imo.
There is a lot of "too early to tell" going on here, with too big a helping of testosterone vapors.

Re: Death Note Mafia [DAY 1]
How about Ricky? I like it and it's easy and not to closely associated with rico but still sounds like your name and isn't in any way associated with Shit.
Also - fwiw - the very reason I asked what your opnions were was because I felt that jumping on you for being "weird" when you are new is an easy out in the chest pumping and I like to hear what new people have to see. Sometimes they see things differently.
I'll echo SVS here -Bass is always pretty cold in the beginning of games and hopefully opens up.
DP's vote for low posters with only the
smiley - was about PERFECT for a DP post. He is always one of the lowest posters. Like ever. OF course he voted that option. Of course he said it with as few words as possible. I actually really did LOL when I read his post and saw his vote.
Says nothing about DP's alignment like AT ALL. I have no idea at all what allignent he had, but flags would have been raised in my personal hed cannon if he voted any other way than the way he did.
linki -lol svs.
Also- past noon? it's lkke almost 5 am here. Where are you located? This helps me read you too.

Thanks for your input, SVS and bea. I'll keep in mind what you are saying about DP, but Bass' behaviour on D0 just adds to the profile I already have on him from another game. Of course, I am far from wanting to push any lynch on them for this (I never really quite embraced voting odd and/or low D0 posters at any point, in any game so far), but just wanted to name all the voters that stood out in an odd way to me.

A little more to East (and the same time more to the South) than that. Sorry for being mysterious about it. :Pbea wrote:Fair enough Ricky - and I did ask for your opinion. When we get to exchange ideas like this at this time - please know - it's at the end of my night. More likely than not - I've had beers.
I figured (the late night part, not the beers). So far you and SVS are the only players I notice staying up this late, in your case.

It's all good Ricky - you are not the only player that keeps their location on the vauge. I respect that actually. I'm in Arizona which means twice a year I float time zones.Ricochet wrote:A little more to East (and the same time more to the South) than that. SVS is up because she is on the east coast and it's currently like 8:28 am there. So she's waking up for the day and getting her coffee and starting her work day.
I tend to work nights. Which means, I'm up late even for my time (I typically get done beween 1-3 am my time) - which means it's not unusually for me to be 6 beers in at 5:30 am my time, 8:30 am SVSs time - and noon:30 your time.
When I posted early during the Day 0 poll is when I tend to be "coffee bea" - just waking up - etc.
