Warcraft Mafia [FULL GAME]

#1

Post by Turnip Head »

World of Warcraft Mafia
ALLIANCE VS HORDE

For 26 players.
Game Features:
  • Alliance vs Horde faction warfare - Unlike most games, Warcraft Mafia will require you to work as a team against an opponent with equal numbers and abilities in a war of attrition.
  • Choose your own role - choose the class or character that best suits your style.
  • Dying does not mean losing - As long as you are on the winning team, you will qualify for a winner's banner. Even if you get lynched Day 1! There's also more than one way to come back from the dead.
  • Infinite ways to play - a dynamic set of abilities allows you to play the game however you want
  • Lots of shenanigans!
Choose Your Class
There are 11 different classes and two players for each class: One for Horde, and one for Alliance. Choose the class that most interests you.

Passive abilities are always in effect.
Active abilities can be used each Night.
Special abilities must be specialized in and are generally one-time-use unless otherwise specified, or unless you respecialize ("respec").
DRUID
Image
Passive Abilities
Shapeshift - transform into a bear, panther, dryad, or Moonkin. If a member of the opposing faction is lynched, a druid can shapeshift into a new form.
Bear - Guardian
Bears cannot be lynched unless a majority of their votes are from the opposing faction.
Growl - Redirect a player’s action onto himself or herself. You may use this ability on one Even night and one Odd night.

Panther - Feral
Prowl - Learn a dead target’s class.
Maim - Once in the game, switch a lynch. You must first have shifted from another form before using this ability. The player you switch to must have a visible vote from you. You cannot shapeshift or use any abilities the following night unless the target was a member of the opposing faction.

Moonkin - Balance
Lunar Guidance - learn how many players are left in your faction.
Soul of the Forest - Once in the game, target a player. The target will brought before a tribunal of 3 players; two from your faction and one from the opposing faction. If all three vote unanimously, the target will die.

Dryad - Restoration
Mark of the Wild - send a player a message. Will first be approved by the host.
Lifebloom - Once in the game, grow a lifebloom mushroom. Any player who targets you will target the mushroom instead. Success rate while in dryad form is 100%, except for kills which are 67%. Success rate while in other forms is 50%, except for kills which are 25%. The mushroom absorbs up to 5 actions. The druid may use the mushroom again at any time to release its spores.

HUNTER
Image

Passive Ability
Tame Beast - If you use no other active ability, you can attempt to tame a beast. 50% chance to tame. If successful, every night you can choose to make your vote worth 2 OR you may use 2 active abilities, until your pet is killed. Your pet dies if you take at least half as many votes as the player who is lynched. If you are the lead vote getter, your pet will absorb the last two votes and then die. If you are targeted for a kill, your pet has a 25% chance to absorb the hit. Limit 1 tamed pet at a time.

Active Abilities - use one each Night
Tracking - Learn target’s class. You must use all other active abilities before tracking again.
Explosive Trap - Set a trap to be applied to the thread (come up with a secret trigger). The first player who breaks the trap receives 2 votes that Day. Successful trappings will be announced in the thread by the host. The second player who breaks the trap (after the announcement) receives 3. Traps disappear after 2 Days if they haven’t been sprung.
Trueshot Aura - Make your next vote against a member of the opposing faction count for 1 extra. Stays in effect for up to 3 Days.

Special Abilities - choose ONE to specialize in
Beastmaster: Frenzy - If you die at night while your pet is alive, your pet will attempt to avenge you. You have three chances to guess the identity of your killer. If you guess correctly, and the killer is not a member of your faction, the killer will die.
Marksmanship: Kill Shot - if a player has more than 6 visible votes (or 5 and your pet’s vote or a Trueshot Aura), automatically lynch that player.
Survival: Feign Death - can only be used at night. If you take the most votes in either of the next 2 lynches, there will be no lynch.

WARRIOR
Image

DEATH KNIGHTS
Image

Passive Abilities
Starts the game with 2 runes of each: Blood, Frost, and Unholy. Each night, 1 random rune will regenerate.

Active Abilities - use one each Night
Rune Tap (2 Blood) - votes cast against you have a 50% chance of not counting the next Day.
Plague Strike (1 Unholy) - cast a disease on a player. Set the terms of how the disease affects the player. Players will be punished for not complying with the terms of their condition.
Anti-Magic Shell (2 Frost 1 Unholy) - choose a player and make a list of eight living players. That player may only target the names on your list. (If there are fewer than 8 players remaining, the list goes down to 6.)
Appeal to Arthas (1 Blood 1 Frost 1 Unholy) - appeal to Arthas to increase your chances of becoming a faction leader.
Chains of Ice (2 Frost) - Search a player. If that player is the opposing faction’s Disciple of War, they will be captured.
Death and Decay (1 Blood 1 Unholy) - check a dead player’s faction.
Dark Simulacrum (2 Blood 1 Frost 1 Unholy) - For every player that has targeted you tonight or in the past two nights, randomly redirect their power to a random target.
Raise Dead (1 Frost 2 Unholy) - summon a dead player who may post on topic and vote for one Day.

INDEPENDENT

In addition to the Alliance vs. Horde warfare, four individuals will have various win conditions.
Image
Kel’Thuzad - 24 hours into each Day period, Kel’Thuzad must predict who will be lynched that Day and which faction they belong to. Each Night, he must also make a prediction: either which player will be killed, or the killed player’s class and faction. If he is right, he raises the dead player as a lich under his command. Successfully raised liches may post on-topic for one full cycle after their death. Kel’Thuzad wins if his army of liches ever outnumber the living players. If Kel’Thuzad is lynched or night killed, he will return to the game, but will lose control over all of his zombies and they will return to the grave. He will survive the first NK attempt on his life and won't lose his followers.

Image
Arthas Menethil - every 3 Days, Arthas sends his commands for who will become the new leaders of each faction. Arthas also chooses a target Disciple of War for each faction at this time. *secrets*

Image
Nozdormu - A Dragon Aspect charged with ensuring that time always flows in the proper direction. Nozdormu can move all players in the game through time, bringing them into the past, present or future. If he brings the game into the future, whatever happens there will be fated to happen. If he moves the game into the past, the players have a chance to change fate. *secrets*

Image
Kil’jaeden - Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion. He seeks utter destruction of the universe and will use anyone he thinks can help him achieve this goal. Kil’jaeden must choose one player before the end of each Day to become his lieutenant. This player will carry out the night’s kill in service of Kil'jaeden's goals. If Kil'jaeden's current lieutenant is ever lynched, all members of the opposing faction of the lieutenant will have all cooldowns reset on their abilities; in addition, the first time this occurs, these players will also gain the power to respecialize their abilities. The "respec" can be used at any time to change one’s specialization. If Kil’jaeden is pleased with his lieutenant’s work, he may retain their services. All players will be made aware when Kil’jaeden has chosen a new lieutenant. *secrets*

No, you shouldn't tell everyone what your preferred class would be at this time, probably a bad idea. However, class claiming and faction claiming are probably going to end up becoming important aspects of gameplay, actually. Mass outing though - as in everyone claiming something at once - is going to be strictly forbidden. Other than that, the role outing rules in this game are going to be pretty lax. I think this approach will likely enrich the strategy.

It's not that bad! I picked it to represent the game because it has objectives that could line up with a mafia setup. The only other one in the running was Warsong Gulch, which is always going to be my favorite BG.

And hey I could have used Alterac Valley [insert puking emote here]

WSG is ok. I like AB more, but it wouldn't really work.

Vanilla AV would be best (I mean, it would have required 80 players and probably taken roughly 50 years to be played out, after taking an additional 30 to even begin, but still). Or Tarren Mill/South Shore, although that would just end with everyone dying of the plague, which is gross.

WSG was always my favourite too!

But, nothing wrong with Strand of the Ancients.

Although, my best individual performance came in Eye of the Storm.

I suck at PvP. Hopefully I'm better at PvP mafia...

Alpha Patch 1.1 has been released. Patch notes:
  • Warlocks gained a new ability (Unending Resolve); Soul Swap's effectiveness on target has been decreased
  • Kel'Thuzad has received several buffs to make his win condition more feasible
  • Hunter pet mechanic overhauled; all Hunter specs now have access to a pet. Beastmastery ability changed as a result
  • Several classes tweaked: Paladin rotation is less rigid; Death Knight rune regeneration increased; cost of Rogues' Deadly Poison increased to 6
  • Added pictures for the independent roles
Plans for the future:
  • Reassess balance concerns for priests and shamans
  • Improvements for mages and monks
  • Demon Hunters?

This game will be played Soon™
