GAMEPLAY & RULES

Gameplay
1. Days are 48 hours. At the end of each Day, the player with the most votes will be lynched, and that player will have his or her role revealed. Before the end of each Day, you must cast your vote. A missing vote will negatively impact your Participation Score (see: Participation). Mafia do NOT have BTSC during Days.
2. Nights are 24 hours. During this time the thread will be locked. The mafia will gain BTSC and submit a kill. The civilian cop will send in the name of a player to check. At the end of each Night, one player will be nightkilled, and that player will have his or her role revealed.
3. All game conversation must take place in the thread unless you are a member of the mafia. Mafia may only engage in BTSC during Nights.
4. All votes must be cast in the poll to count. It is considered standard and good form to simultaneously post and bold your vote, but it is not necessary for your vote to count.
5. All votes are changeable. You may change your vote as many times as you wish up until the vote's deadline.
6. Civilians win if they have eliminated the Mafia. Mafia win if they have outnumbered the Civilians.
7. If your faction wins, you win, regardless of whether you are dead or alive at endgame. Do your best! Fight for your faction's win condition. Players who fail to meet participation criteria will be denied a win.
8. At the end of this game, all players will vote on an MVP. The player with the most votes will be crowned MVP of Pet Sounds Mafia and will be eligible to play The Syndicate's very first All-Star Heist Game.
9. Your Participation Score (P-Score) will be adversely affected if you fail certain participation criteria. Refer to the guidelines on Participation for more detail. In addition, upon failure of participation criteria, you may be forcibly replaced or modkilled if you have not corresponded with both hosts.
10. The Mod on Duty for this game is Epignosis. He is there for any of your questions or concerns not strictly related to game or role mechanics. Please PM him with any grievances or concerns you may have at any time, notably including conflicts with other players. Keep the thread fun and clean of emotionally-charged drama or conflicts; PM Epignosis instead. I want to keep this game as fun as possible for everyone.

Rules
1. Be respectful and remember that this is a game. Although mafia is a game of deception and can be rather heated, recognize that the game is not personal and that your friends may be lying to you in the spirit of the game. Please treat your fellow players with respect, even if you suspect or strongly disagree with them.
2. No BTSC (Behind the Scenes Contact/Conversation) with anyone. Do not talk about the game with anyone outside the thread, in any capacity, except for the hosts or the Mod on Duty or any BTSC. If you are unsure whether you have BTSC, that means you do not have it.
3. No editing or deleting of posts.
4. Role outing and info-dumping is acceptable.
5. Songs and roles are all assigned randomly. Songs are irrelevant to alignment. Everything is fully randomized. Mafia have not been given fake song claims because it isn't necessary. You may claim your song if you like.
6. Self-voting is permitted.
7. There should be no posting from dead players or non-players for any reason. If you want access to Pet Sounds Mafia's Spectator Chat, PM your host.
8. Off-topic posts should be in off-topic green. There is an "OT" code for this function.
9. This is your host's color. All of your host's posts will be in this color. Don't use it!

PARTICIPATION

The following behavior constitutes non-participation:

- If you do not post at all during 1 entire Day cycle.
- If you do not cast a vote in 2 or more lynches.

If any of these are committed, it will qualify as non-participation for the purposes of this game. Consequently, any player who commits any of these will have their Participation Score (P-Score) penalized.

If at any time you are afraid you cannot fulfill any of these requirements due to any reason, please PM both hosts immediately explaining your situation or requesting a replacement. In the case of the latter, we will then seek out someone to take your place and your P-Score will not be penalized.

Exceptions will be made for unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances.

I might have to sit this one out, but I really everyone to give it a shot. This setup is the most fundamentally balanced I've seen in Mafia -- on the 2+2 forums it has been run hundreds of times and the win rate is about 48-52 I believe (town-mafia). It's hard to get any better than that. Everyone has a fair shot to win if they play hard.

It's also a welcome way to simply get some practice. This kind of setup forces players to work with pure scumhunting tactics for the most part and that skill can be applied in pretty much any game no matter the complexity. I'm very excited to see The Syndicate giving this a chance.

Good question!

In this setup, there is no Don or Godfather; all 3 mafia members are vanilla. Since there is no doctor (protector) or blocker or anything like that, the mafia kill just happens at the end of every Night until the game ends. Hope that makes sense!

Of course! Future hosts will be free to have spectator chats as they wish in their games.

They can either use chatzy (like I did in Talking Heads), OR if they want an actual hidden thread, they can arrange that with their Moderator on Duty.

In fact, for any Hosts reading this, I would highly recommend utilizing a spectator chat in either form (chatzy or thread) in your future games. It went over really well for Talking Heads.
