Re: [DAY 1] Pet Sounds Mafia
You lose a lynch too. If we don't No_Lynch on Day 1, we get three more chances at a mislynch before LYLO hits. This is 4 chances total.
If we do No_Lynch on Day 1, we get three chances at a mislynch, then we hit LYLO where there are equal numbers town and mafia.
So the difference here is that we either lynch a player with little information on Day 1, or we put ourselves in a high risk situation in LYLO. I'd prefer the former of these, because mafia is almost guaranteed to win in the latter.

I've heard "LYLO" mentioned in every game I've played since I've been back. What does that refer to?

Lynch or Lose or something like that. Basically it means if town lynches one of their own in a LYLO round, they lose the game.

Re: [DAY 1] Pet Sounds Mafia
LYnch or LOse. It's the situation where if you lynch a civilian, the game ends and the baddies win, but if you lynch a baddie, the civilians are still alive. It's the last chance for civs to get it right. This situation can apply to any amount of baddies (3 civs and 2 baddies would be LYLO, if this is the situation for a day phase)
In a simple game with all deaths revealed, it's a situation that becomes easily evident. Most games on the Syndicate can't rely on obvious LYLO scenario because of wacky role powers as well as nightkilled players not being revealed.

I kinda figured I'd end up getting votes if it turned to be a historically bad idea, but it caught my eye and it's not like there's been a lot more to discuss, even now.
So basically we play it hardcore these games. It's pretty essential to be getting our lynches right from the start or we're toast. That makes sense. Hope to see more discussion before the poll's up.

Well you have one random vote from MM which has yet to change, and the other vote is Wilgy's, which is also random. I don't trust Wilgy.

Re: [DAY 1] Pet Sounds Mafia
The fact that votes are changeable makes me less worried. MM was just being a goof, and I don't really know Wilgy so I can't say much about his playstyle, but I feel as though he may have just been trying to get a reaction (though I don't really appreciate how much easier he's made it for people waiting to jump on a wagon against me

Because I was bringing up an idea that, as it turns out, benefits baddies the most. Added to the fact that it was the longest post so far and I already had a vote, yeah, I saw it coming. I was talking about the No Lynch option when I mentioned historically bad ideas, but yeah, voting for me isn't such a great one either
linki: umm what? Why would we want to keep posts to a minimum? This is still completely small-time, you can handle it.

Re: [DAY 1] Pet Sounds Mafia
I also wouldn't give too much importance to the votes given so far. Until it's final, it's just gonna be people messing around. Right now it means nothing.

I can see why a person new to the concept would like it though. It's essentially doing the same thing that people do when they random day 1. I admit, I was fascinated by the idea the first time I'd been exponsed to it till all the stuff that comes after this post was explained to me.a2thezebra wrote:I've never seen it work in town's favor. Ever. You're more likely to pick a random player to lynch and get lucky than lynch no one and give scum a free night kill. That's essentially what "no lynch" is, it's surrendering to mafia.
That said....I still random often on Day 1.

I don't find it suspicious this early. I'm not the greatest fan in the world of changeable votes for lots of reasons, but it seems to be the thing these days. *shakes cane* In my day we voted once and it meant something /old lady.
This early in the game, I'm guessing zeeb is voting people who catch her eye and also maybe voting lots to generate discussion. I don't see that as inherently bad. I would be far more worried about it if it were later in the cycle and she expressed any sort of non jokey reason for voting them.
Also - I'll likely respond to posts that happen while I can't look at the thread singularly like this. Sorry for all the spam.

Re: [DAY 1] Pet Sounds Mafia
too easy indeed, if I wanted to put a vote on someone early and stick to it for purposes of mislynch I'd put alittle more effort into it, perhaps by playing off someone's opportunism?a2thezebra wrote:I initially voted for DrWilgy as a joke but I don't dig this:As I said, I don't understand why you would vote for someone for showing interest in something they are unaccustomed to, whether it's pro-town or not. It seems opportunistic and too easy.DrWilgy wrote:Enrique gets my vote for now. I don't think "no lynch" has ever been a fantastic option for civilians in any game I've played.

Voting someone for showing interest in a mechanic they don't know about is fine when we have nothing else to go on, but I'll move my vote to Choutas for actually being on no lynch.
I mean... I'd rather have RVS than No Lynch, at least that way we get info. Even if I were to die via RVS, you may be able to pick out some baddies via vote patterns later on. The only times where I've seen a LYLO situation as civ (I say seen, because I was always dead at that point) were due to no lynching, so let's not do that.
Would y'all believe me if I said I was a Doctor? I don't think I've set my tempo yet... What do I do this game?

Hmm... I also don't like Luke's vote... Meh, staying on Choutas for now.
Re: [DAY 1] Pet Sounds Mafia
I really don't want to vote for Luke. But y'all better not let me die either
I'm gonna leave Wilgy a vote for now, because out of the candidates so far, he's the only one I can understand. Decent chance I'll still change it if something else comes up or if it's the only way to save myself.
linki: Wait what? You can just say that's not the case, but don't plat it off as if zebra didn't have a point. Having an early vote for the only person who's spoken up and has a vote already can be interpreted as being predatory as hell.
What's RVS? Did you guys really come up with all these new rules and names since the last time I played?
