I was moreover trying to find if the name literally translates into something in particular, but thanks for that as well.

Re: Random~
I went to a play at the local german theater this evening, together with my German studying group (wrapping up by B2 levels). I haven't been to a play in a really long time. I don't even remember ever going with my "ehemalige" girlfriend.
Anyway, the funny part is that teach warned us not to pick a play in which strong language or even some nudity might occur, because there are 16 and 17 yr old students in the group, so it may not be kosher. Guess which show we blindly picked to go to.
I was in charge with buying the tickets, so my only thought, when the actors started stripping and enacting an intense sex scene and even a jerk off mimicking one, was that the teach will strangle me tomorrow. Whoops.
But we had fun overall, most of us liked it (only one or two thought it was just too modern and weird for their taste or even awful); a colleague in fact was the only one in the audience to give a standing applause. She thought it was amazing. I thought the theme was pretty generic and an easy pick for building non-stop tension and soapy like interactions (existential and communicational crisis among Millenials in the Facebook era and intertwined stories of love and betrayal), plus this theater usually has the talent, but lacks the staging skills or creativity, yet this time it held up nicely. There was a moment that mixed music, coreography and narrative culmination, in which Arcade Fire's My Body is a Cage was played. Got me all wet.

Not as crazy as a friend of mine. He just told me that his professor was a half-hour late to the final, so he removed several questions and tossed in a bunch of extra credit.

Re: Random~
As a professor for the first time last semester, I started wondering, "why are students late to class", but much more so, "why are students late to a test/final"?, because I especially never understood the latter. The easy answer is that they overslept, they're just tardy and don't care as much about their grades, etc., but I always wondered if anyone had issues like that. I was never informed of them.

Re: Random~
There are definitely students who do just sleep in or miss it for other reasons, but there are always extraneous circumstances like what I encountered too. The fact that I did leave early gave me the time I needed to get there right on time too. I've never encountered a bus breaking down before. Of course it happened on my way to take a final exam. :PMovingPictures07 wrote:As a professor for the first time last semester, I started wondering, "why are students late to class", but much more so, "why are students late to a test/final"?, because I especially never understood the latter. Re: Random~
I would end up being super lenient because I can't know the circumstances the students are facing as a professor, and then I'd probably end up nto getting to teach anything. But on the other hand it would be great to come down like a sack of bricks on people who try to lie and make excuses. I can understand being late or missing assignments but not owning up to it is a different matter.MovingPictures07 wrote:As a professor for the first time last semester, I started wondering, "why are students late to class", but much more so, "why are students late to a test/final"?, because I especially never understood the latter. That reminds me, I read a crazy story about how the door of a club was acting as a filter and causing the music to be easily audible from miles away in someone's home. They had to do a whole Sherlock style investigation to figure out where the music was coming from.
