Least Favorite Songs
We all have those songs that we just love to hate. One of them for me is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. And basically anything I hear at the gym. And definitely "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon5. Also, anything by Maroon5.
I seem to not like nonsense songs. Sorry, Oasis fans. There's no such thing as a "wonderwall" or a "champagne supernova."
This is why an oldie is my least favorite song "Da Do Run Run" by The Crystals is perhaps my least favorite song of all time. It doesn't make sense, it's a classic earworm, and it's just all around ICC-level heinous.
What songs irritate you the most?

Most 70's pop is ultra irritating to me, like "Playground in my Mind" and "Seasons in the Sun" and "Loving You (Is Easy Cause You're Beautiful)" and "Color My World", but the number one most irritating song for me (at least right now) is "You're The One That I Want" (The Grease theme song, you know "I got chills, they're multiplying").
Every time I hear it I want to ...KILL....PEOPLE....GRRRRR
For more recent, I can also live without Maroon 5. Yeah.

Ahh yes, good call. A lot of those have been abused by Burger King and Auto Zone and various car company advertisements.
I have Grease in general from beginning to end, so I'm glad to find an ally.

The one that leaps to mind is Damaged by Dannity Kane.
It came out just as I got a job at Virgin Megastore, and I had to listen to it about 10 times a day. By the time they finally stopped playing it I was about ready to gauge out my own eardrums.

Pretty much how you feel about songs sung by people with mohawks, braided beards and heroin habits, lol.

Re: Least Favorite Songs
I agree with pretty much all of these listed except Bohemain Rhapsody and Superfly (seriously WTF? those both are fantastic songs).
I listen to so many eras, genres, subgenres, and kinds of music, but there is definitely certain music or "music" I can't stand. I have to say, one of my all-time least favorite songs is "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears.

I was talking with an 18 year old today about Miley. She said one of her songs was good, but not the music video. Damned if I remember which one was supposed to be good. I did learn a lot more about the Fall of Miley aka Hannah Montana than I knew before.Mongoose wrote:The new Mylie Cyrus 'song' was on in the school cafeteria.

Re: Least Favorite Songs
^That reminds me that everyone pretty much flipped their table when the second trailer for Suicide Squad was a montage featuring excerpts from Bohemian Rhapsody, yet I rather liked said montage. I'd say I like the "noooo we will not let you go" up to "for meeeee" segment of the song, because of nice harmonies and choral layer (although now that I see that the actual lyrics also contain the words "Beelzebub has a devil put aside", I feel ashamed
), but otherwise yeah, that song is like four songs trying to stick together.
I feel like I could never come up with an example in this category. I don't really pay attention to the most obvious faux-pas or cringe schlagers in pop/rock, even when others are riding hard the negative hype train. If I can't stand it or doesn't interest me, genre-wise, I will pay no attention. If it's a stinker of a song inside an album I am interested or listening to, I'll survive. But all in all, I'm quite the awful conversation partner, when it comes to recommendations or counter-recommendations. I listen to so much, yet I can't tag it in my head in order to pinpoint at it during talks. It's like my mind locks itself on the inside, with me having no spare key to it.
As a music fad / trend / meme, I could perhaps single out that the Harlem Shake thing from two (three?) years ago was pretty much the most obnoxious thing humanity has come up with, as of late. I'll accept two minutes of Happy bullsuit togetherness dance exhibitions over a single second of this song....
...ok, one minute. Then I'd stab you for doing a Happy moment, just as well.
