Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [DAY 2]
I left him off because I'm very unsure. I think sig's case had merit but I am not sure that it is right either. Glorfindel plays differently than most of us and i think he is trying to find the best way to preserve his values in the midst of it, so it is hard to say if his leaving is alignment indicative or not, especially given his recent post in Star Wars. I think we all should stop putting him a position where he is required to betray those values in order to play the game. And I fully support his refusal to answer the question no matter what his alignment in all future games. His refusal to vote is what vexes me a bit. Abstaining from voting is usually considered poor form in our community, so it's hard for me to understand it. All that to say, sprityo has done nothing himself to make me think he is bad, and I'm not comofrtable enough with the case based on Glorfindel's replacement to vote him. I did that to Bubbles once, fully convinced I was right and I turned out wrong. I don't want to make that mistake again.

Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [DAY 2]
Day 2 - The Double Disturbance
Christmas, a holiday which is celebrated in many countries on one planet and in no countries on many planets, was a most un-festive day for the beachgoers. Still reeling from Scotty's death, they decided to spend the holiday in Dr. Montgomery's house, waiting out the blizzard which had arisen. Suspicions are strange things; one can be cheerful and in a magnanimous (a word here meaning "generally inclined towards giving to others") mood yet still harbor deep suspicions for those around oneself.
Once more arguments about who may be a killer erupted, and soon too suspects found themselves in the hot seat (not literally, as there was no heated furniture available during this storm). One of the two, Long Con, eyed the door and slowly edged away from the crowd. The other, an implausibly tall figure called Sprityo, loomed over the crowd proclaiming his innocence. In anger they knocked him over, revealing the one tall man to in fact be two medium women. They pushed Long Con out of the way and ran out the door, forgetting about the blizzard.
The Powder-Faced Women soon froze in an impressive running position, permanent fixtures in Dr. Montgomery's front garden.
From there the group decided to take the cars in the garage down to Lake Lachrymose, where the weather was substantially less fatal, at least in regards to blizzards.
Sprityo 2.0 has been lynched. He was the Powder-Faced Women. It is now Night 2. You have 23 hours to get your PMs in.

I don't think LC is civ anymore.
His last civilian display when he was on the chopping block he made sure to get all his last words out and not let the discussion die out. This time he pops a joke and dips?

I told you I could do Glorfs meta like the back of my hand. Also fun fact?
The Powder-Faced Women – Their vote counts for two as long as at least one other member of the Troupe votes the same way.
No teammate were on the LC wagon.

Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [DAY 2]
I already explained number 2 is because I didn't bother to check whether Glorf voted or not. I just looked at your post.Long Con wrote:Number 1: Saying I was "pushing the nearest wagon". That makes me sound bad. It is also inaccurate. I was the second vote on a low poster, I had already stated that I wanted to vote a low poster and that I would prefer to pick the same low poster as other like-minded individuals.Long Con wrote:That's not accurate, I wasn't "pushing the nearest wagon". You're straining to phrase things in a way that makes me look guilty of something which I am not. I decided to go with a low/non-poster, and sprityo was in the short list of folks that I was considering for that. Then ONE person voted sprityo, and I decided that was the best "low-poster" way to go... rather than pick a different one and split that slice of the vote up. It wasn't a wagon at that point - that's why your analysis is inaccurate. I would go so far as to say "intentionally inaccurate", but I may get back to that when I have more time to devote.Dragon D. Luffy wrote:He is around, he is paying attention at every big discussion, and he is posting his opinions, but not committing to anything. He spent a long time talking about how he didn't know who to vote for on d1, but then at the end he was okay with pushing the nearest wagon around.sig wrote:Why LC?
Number 2: He said that I was "accusing Glorf of voting for bad reasons". That's completely untrue in every way, and he's using it to try and make me look bad.Long Con wrote:Once again, you are intentionally shifting away from the real truth. I didn't accuse Glorf of voting for bad reasons. Glorf didn't vote. AND I didn't accuse him. Not in the conventional Mafia sense. I wasn't stating a suspicion of him, I was telling him that it was not cool or accurate to proclaim "vindication".Dragon D. Luffy wrote:And right after that, he was accusing Glorf of voting for bad reasons:
What if I was bad and you had "randomly" voted for me instead of spirit, LC? Wouldn't that have changed everything either?Long Con wrote:Damn, yo, what vindication? What if DDL is a baddie? Your vote would have tied them up, and maybe changed EVERYTHING. It's a scotche early to be proclaiming "vindication".Glorfindel wrote:And there you go... vindicated again!
Number 3: Calling me a hypocrite for invented reasons with, yet again, the intention of making me look bad.Long Con wrote:You know what, we're coming back to this as well.Dragon D. Luffy wrote:I just cared that you had enough commitment to the game to judge people but not enough to make more commited votes than the one you made. That came across as rather hipocritical.
If I had been accusing someone else of not having enough suspicions, or not being involved enough to make an informed vote, THAT would be hypocritical.
Me called Glorfindel out on his "vindicated" claim was a self-contained disagreement with one post. There is NOTHING hypocritical about that. Maybe if I had also made a similar post earlier somehow wherein I claimed to be vindicated in my views, and THEN put Glorf down for the same.... THAT would be hypocritical.
However, none of that happened. Your assessment of "that came across as rather hypocritical" is yet another example of DDL intentionally twisting things to make me look bad.
Reason for suspicion: DDL is playing like a baddie who needs to make a case in order to not look bad, but has chosen to contrive and twist reasons because he thinks it will be easy to make people see me as bad. The absolute weakness and dishonesty of his points against me indicate that he is not approaching this from an honest perspective, hence, he is bad.
Number 1 is probably explained for the same reason. I saw you voting for someone who got lynched and called it out. The fact you were second on the vote helps you a little, but not that much. Because if Sprit got votes at that point is because there were multiple people speaking suspicions of him.
Number 3 is like, your opinion man.
Yeah I'm lazy and I risk interpreting things wrong every now and then, but I stand by my gut read on you and the feeling I got from those posts of yours.

Nope. As of this post I'm quoting, you have a slight civ read on me, and INH thinks I'm the biggest civ to walk the Earth since Jesus.MovingPictures07 wrote:Holy fuck, INH and I are on exactly the same page right now? What world is this?
I can't say how I eel about that. Like, I'm happy someone is trusting me so much, but it's making me paranoid. Specially when that ended up almost stopping the sprit lynch.
Then again, Sig's post about no sprit teammates in the sprit wagon has merit. So meh.

I like this post. Now I actually get why INH is siding with me.insertnamehere wrote:THE CASE AGAINST LONG CON
DDL is, let's say, a kind of incendiary guy.Epignosis wrote:I am willing to vote sprityo, LC, or DDL of those three names.
I agree with the initial idea behind DDL's case against LC. LC has latched onto a few things DDL said that admittedly don't make complete sense, but are just used to augment the core of his rhetoric. LC took those things, and now is trying to completely invalidate DDL's case, regardless of the good points he made about LC.
LC was blendy and noncommital as hell, up until DDL posted a case on him. LC then dedicated himself to poking holes in that case, and trying to lynch DDL, who is an easy-ass target at this point due to how he racked up the votes on D1.
It's not genuine.
It's not real baddie-hunting.
It's an OMGUS, despite how many discrediting adjectives LC uses to describe DDL's case.

I guess... Sig? I suspected him initially, but he had a solid day 2.

Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [NIGHT 2]
Wilgy feels weirdly absent from this game and that is boethering me.
I know he posted RL reasons at some point, but still bothered.

Yes, but even he could be on the other mafia team. I guess I'm just saying the obvious here.Dragon D. Luffy wrote:Don't ask me to explain why I suspect MM. Even I don't know.

Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [NIGHT 2]
People should breath for a while and think whether their suspicions of Epi are actually concrete or if they are just annoyed by Epi being Epi.
Because this feels like the politics thread all over again. Epi posts controvertial stuff on purpose, it gets under people's skin, flamewar happens, and Epi collects enough salt to feed his family for a week.
I mean, he could be an evil mastermind in disguise, but a lot of the "scummy" stuff he says is just trolling.

That's not just based on the lynch result. I thought his case on Sprit was pretty sincere, even though I thought it was full of BS at the same time.Snow Dog wrote:Yes, but even he could be on the other mafia team. Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [NIGHT 2]
DDL, No one has been more annoyed with Epi this game than me but I have still been giving him a civ read. Because I know Epi well enough not to base my read upon his irritating game persona. I don't understand it or agree with his choices but I do think he is civ. In fact I think the only person who doesn't is INH.
Also Wilgy just came back and has engaged in the game quite well. If you said this 24 hours ago, or even twelve, I would agree. But not now, this is the most town vibe I've gotten from Wilgy in a while.

That post wasn't adressed at anybody specific, Daisy. If you don't think you are being fooled by Epi's troll persona, good for you.

I am reading Epi as civ this game and he doesn't irritate me.

Re: A Mafia of Unfortunate Events [DAY 2]
This is kind of silly. If sprit was civ, he would be his own biggest civ read. Self-defense is always justified. Unless you know the other guy is a civ PR or something.Epignosis wrote:Remaining civilians: Look at the timing of my vote post and the post before it. sprityo's only concern was not being lynched.
